Early the next morning, I had a message from Adam B. Once I got to work, I returned the call and quickly described my issue and what I believed it to be. The first available appointment wasn't until Monday (it wasn't urgent, so I wasn't worried about going the weekend). I got my timeframe. I had a couple other appointments that day, so I ended up taking the day off so I could easily be available. I immediately liked that they told me who would be arriving - AND that was who arrived. I also liked that they use a customer portal that allows you to have some security if you pay online or to review your records. Christian arrived (there was one other person with him). It took him a couple minutes to diagnose the issue he believed it to be, and it took him not a lot longer to determine that diagnosis correct. He quoted the price, I agreed, and he got to work. After finishing the work, he determined the original issue I'd believed it to be wasn't quite needing to be addressed (but will be in the near future). We discussed options, including ways I could save a bit. Christian was personable and explained things in a way I could understand. The issue was likely caused by me, but he managed to avoid using the word "idiot" at any point. The repair was done in a timely manner. The price ended up being a bit lower than quoted. I appreciated his honesty as he very easily could have pointed me toward a repair not needing done yet. It also became obvious the last person I'd used had really only done half the job. Everything has worked beautifully since Christian finished. There are likely a couple more projects I'll tackle in the near future, and I won't hesitate to return to Grateful Plumber. The housecall was $59, but that was credited toward the repair once I decided to have them do the work. Friendly employees. Good follow-through. Fair pricing. Quality work. Problem solved. That's 5-star for me and another winner for Yelp's project feature.

Meanwhile late in the day someone from my Dad's church volunteered to come and look at the issue. The issue is fixed. I called the grateful plumber as soon as I had a chance , because of everything that is going on. The voice mail said that cancellations done in less than 24 hours would still require the service fee. I left a message and cancelled the appointment then I get a text that their service guy is on his way. I called back and talked with the owner I'm assuming and he said he is charging us a service fee anyway. That it was too late to call off his guys and that they had been holding this spot for me. Terrible customer service and interaction.

Since then, we have run into issue after issue, all due to mistakes that were made during the original install. Each time we have reached out to Justin for help, but he continuously ghosts us and will not show up to make things right. Beware - he will only honor the 1 year labor warranty if you are willing to wait weeks before you can finally get him onsite. We have a 7mo baby and her bedroom was up to 84 degrees last night. Still waiting on a response from Justin although it's almost been a week with constant outreach from us! I've never experience such poor communication from a business owner - it's absurd. Unfortunately, this will be the third time that we're having to pay an outside company to fix our brand new AC unit. EXTREMELY disappointed and hope others don't make the same mistake as we did!

At no point was I contacted by management, despite repeated assurances that a manager would follow up. I also made multiple attempts to contact the company by phone and email and received no response. Their reply below also references figures that are incorrect and do not align with the actual invoices or work performed, or the numbers I was told by their plumbers. I'm posting this update because the public response misrepresents what occurred. I remain open to a direct, professional resolution if the company chooses to engage. This is especially concerning in emergency plumbing situations, where customers are vulnerable due to time pressure, limited alternatives, and a heavy reliance on the company's honesty and accountability. Original Review: I don't usually leave reviews, but my experience with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing was so costly and misleading that I feel a responsibility to warn others. I hired them for a sewer blockage. They immediately diagnosed the issue as a cracked pipe outside the house, quoted me nearly $3,500, and replaced a short section of exterior line. They told me the problem was fully resolved and even claimed their camera inspection confirmed it. Within hours, the line clogged again. When I reached back out, they did not honor their warranty. The plumber left my messages on read and when I told him I'd reach out higher up he then returned my call finally. Instead of re-diagnosing the actual problem, they kept suggesting new "band-aid" fixes and charging for each visit. Their technician then recommended an additional $3,300 repair -- meaning they wanted almost $7,000 total, and none of it addressed the real issue. The worst part is that when I told the technician the repair didn't work, he simply stopped responding and left me on read. No follow-up, no accountability, nothing unless I "called the office" and told them I wanted the additional $3,300 repair. Finally, I called an independent plumber. He immediately found the actual blockage inside the house, under the slab -- the same area Benjamin's claimed to have inspected with their camera. This independent plumber fixed the problem correctly for about $1,200 with jetting(keep in mind the plumber was also trying to upsell jetting to me for $2500), which is roughly one-fifth of what Benjamin's was trying to charge for their second repair alone. In my experience, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing misdiagnosed the problem, sold me an expensive repair that didn't fix anything, ignored me when I reported that it failed, and continued pushing unnecessary upsells rather than standing behind their work. Their warranty wasn't honored and their customer service ended as soon as they collected payment. If you're considering them, get multiple opinions first. This company cost me thousands of dollars and never actually fixed the problem.

They took the time to go over everything and explain how the system worked, what to expect, how to change settings, etc. All of that and they were extremely reasonably priced! In October of last year (2025) I asked for an estimate to fix a leak in the kitchen. I had no idea where the leak was coming from. Some rep named Bobby came over and went through an elaborate explanation of the "high-tech" methods they used to find a leak. So he had me sign a form that he stated was a simple explanation of what their services offered and that I would use their services if my insurance company agreed with the estimate. He then brought in a small device that he said was state-of-the-art in detecting leaks. He put on a pair of headphones and used a suction cup-type device to listen for a leak. Shortly, he stated he found the problem. It was a leak under the slab and he offered me to listen. I told him whatever, it sounded like a leak, but I'm no expert! He then gave me a vague invoice for $3000! I told him this was going to be submitted to an insurance company that required services to be thoroughly explained. He came back with another invoice that wasn't really that much better in explaining why the services were that much. I told him I would contact them when I got in touch with the insurance adjuster. He then stood up over me and stated he couldn't leave my home without collecting $550 for the services rendered in finding the leak. I told him he never mentioned those fees to me and he continued to state he couldn't leave until he got the money. Now imagine, someone in your living room threatening not to leave unless they get some money! It was really getting ready to get nasty until we got a supervisor on the phone who apparently advised him to leave and told me to contact them when I was ready to get the work done. Later I found out the leak was actually coming from a downstairs toilet with a leaking tank that was oozing under the flooring. So then I contacted Pristine the next day to cancel the contract per Indiana law. The company has been harassing me ever since still trying to say I owe them $550 for a service that was a fraudulent attempt to extort money for a service that wasn't even correct! This was the worst nightmare that I have ever encountered with a company. I shared it so you won't have to endure what I did. I believe that high-pressure tactics like this should be against the law!
