I hired DC Superior Plumbing for a full-house replumb as part of a major modernization remodel of a…read more1974 home and paid approximately $15,000 in full. The plumbing project was never fully completed even though payment had already been made in full. Several fixtures were still awaiting installation as part of the remodel sequence, including bathtubs and the kitchen, but they did not leave me with a working toilet. I had to have my handyman install one. After the plumbing was roughed in and full project payment had already been made, I was told the job had not been profitable and that additional money would be required for them to return and attach fixtures. Within about a year, a workmanship-related leak developed at a sink supply-line termination they installed. This was not user error, the installation itself required correction. At the time of the failure, only three fixtures in the house had ever been in use: the hot water heater, one upstairs sink, and a washer connection. One of those three failed within a year under intermittent use. None of the remaining roughed-in plumbing had yet been subjected to any use because there were no connections to fixtures. When I first reported the leak, the CEO declined to come inspect it and stated it was not their responsibility without even seeing a photo. They claimed a 30-day warranty even though the job was not finished and had already been paid in full. The repair itself ultimately took only about 10 minutes once addressed, but the leak caused water damage to ceiling framing and subflooring that now requires replacement. Because they would not address the issue promptly, I had to involve a handyman to stabilize the situation. The damage was relatively modest, likely under $1,000 during an active remodel, but because they refused to take responsibility, I requested their liability insurance information so the damage could be handled properly. When I requested their liability insurance information repeatedly, they refused to provide it. They declined responsibility without even seeing a photo or inspecting the condition, and the person who stated it was not an insurance claim has never been inside my home. I ultimately had to submit public-records requests to obtain documentation they advertise as part of being licensed, bonded, and insured. When the president/owner later came to review the leak, he brought an individual who identified herself as an apprentice but whose role has never been confirmed despite my written requests. I discovered she was recording me inside my home and my home without telling me. I had no objection to documenting the plumbing work itself, but when I told her I did not consent to being recorded and asked her to stop, she refused. I told her to leave my house, and she did not leave and while standing next to the owner. After finally exiting the house, after more than one demand to do so, she remained on my property recording even after being told multiple times she was trespassing. She continued recording and appeared to keep recording the entire time she remained inside my home and on my property despite repeated instructions to stop and leave. I ultimately had to go inside, lock my door, and state that I would call the sheriff before she left the property. As a senior homeowner living alone in a rural area, I was by myself in the house with the president, who allowed this behavior, and this still-unidentified individual whom the company later refused to identify or even confirm as an employee despite being asked twice. I did no feel safe. Because the same installation method appears elsewhere in the house on rough in connections, and one of the only three active supply connections failed within a year, I no longer have confidence in the reliability of the plumbing work and cannot recommend this company.
