I purchased a "Test Model" used bike in June 2025. I paid $1800 for it but paid for "fatter" seat…read moreand handlebar extender. I had it for 3 months-ish and started having problem with acceleration as soon as adjusting the level from 0 to any number. The bike was also going dead especially up hill. They took 11 days for the Nanaimo location to put a spacer in the throttle charging near $60. I bring it home and find rear tire flat next day. I find it flat again next morning after filling up air previous day. I bring it to another more local private bike shop as Pedego Nanaimo are closed Mondays. The Bike shop that fixed back tire tell me bike tires had debris in them and the tires themselves were wore out needing replacement. Ya 3 month old bike right? But it was fixed with new inner-tube to use for "now". I was testing bike and the Acceleration issues continued. So I brought the bike back to Pedago Nanaimo store. I was very specific asking for the computer to be replaced "expecting it to be under warranty and put on All terrain puncture resistant tire. Well 9 days later I get call from Pedago Electric bikes Nanaimo stating I needed to come pick-up bike as they were closing store for good. They replaced the tires with nobbies original to bike, not the tire that was on it when i bought bike nor was the replacement puncture proof or all terrain! The accelerator has been replaced despite me not asking for that nor did anybody call asking to replace tires especially ones different than asked for or accelerator replacement. Nothing is "under warranty", so I've got to pay the parts and labour to get bike back. Who buys a $1800 bike with no warranty? I didn't believe I did!!! Calling Police and they would only state it's a matter for the courts. Its not a crime to steal from customers. I wonder if the reason the person closing that store is doing so because the corporate has nothing to do with customers of each store and owners are responsible to pay for replacement parts? Coal City Cycles absolutely exceeded our expectations. Our trip could have been derailed when my son's wheel was damaged during a ride. Robin and his crew rebuilt the wheel and had it ready the very next morning. The workmanship was excellent, and the wheel has been flawless ever since. While we were there, they also fitted my son with a new saddle, and he says it's the most comfortable saddle he's ever ridden. They didn't stop there--they helped another friend with a broken wheel, diagnosed an intermittent electrical contact issue on another friend's e-bike, and even set us up with rental bikes so everyone in our group could keep riding and enjoy the day. The customer service was exceptional from start to finish. Robin and his team are knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely care about keeping people on the trails. They went above and beyond to save our riding trip, and we couldn't be more grateful. If you're riding on Vancouver Island, I can't recommend Coal City Cycles highly enough. This is exactly the kind of local bike shop every riding community hopes to have. Five stars all the way!

I cannot recommend them enough! today was icing on the cake when we walked in with my daughters flat tire (she is 11) and she asked them to teach her. I wish I caught the guy's name - he has helped me before and is always so nice. He patiently taught her and she walked out of there with a fixed tire and beaming smile so excited from that experience.

This review is about business ethics & just straight humanity. I decided to take a trip from…read moreAnacortes over to Orcas Island on my personal E-bike to ride the island and up Constitution Mountain. About 2 miles from the top of Constitution, my motor seized up and I was in a really tight spot. I coasted back down to the campground and started putting water on the hub to cool it down, but it was already shot. The problem was, I was solo and didn't know anybody on the island. I called multiple businesses and taxis, but no pick up or responses. I left a message with Wildlife Cycles, thinking they may have a solution for a way to get my E-bike and I back to the ferry terminal, which was about 16 miles away. Hell, the closest hotel was in East Sound, a couple of hours walking a bike on a narrow road. With the sun getting lower on the horizon, my last resort was hitchhiking, to which a lovely local couple, and fellow bike riders, picked me up and gave me a ride all the way back to the ferry terminal. Within that time, Wildlife Cycles texted me back!!! Mind you they were the only response that I got from the entire island. The gentleman explained that he was off island, but asked me what my current situation was and what my plans were. I informed him about the ride I had got and how I no longer needed his assistance. Think about it, I didn't do any business with Wildlife Cycles, as I had my own E-bike, but yet they still reached out to help a bicyclist in need. I have no doubt if I still needed a ride, they would have 100% figured out a way. This small interaction speaks VOLUMES about how they run their business and who they employ. Hats off to Wildlife Cycles!
