just want to give a shout out to the team here at Arrowsmith bikes shop Nanaimo, I bought and…read moremountain ebike off them last year on my 65th born day as i wanted to start rideing again in the forest, not knowing anything about them walked into the shop and was greeted with a big smile and was given the utmost respect right from the start, They took the time to walk me threw all sorts of different pay grades of bike and gave me the understanding of the differences, they never once tried to push me toward a more expensive option, I went with the treck rail, and all i can say is (o my God) what fun. They gave me a full year with free tune ups and any time I came in they have gone out of there way to help me with all things, since my year ran out in march of this year I have had to bring my bike in a few times with some small problems, and they have fixed it right there on the spot, they let me watch so I can learn how to do, which is awesome, today I brought my bike in as I was missing a small screw in my gear changer, and they took my bike to the back and 10 min later back out with screw in and also tightened up and tweaked some small things that I didn't even see, I asked what do I ow you for that, and all i got was a big smile and have a good ride don't worry about it. I cant say enough good things about these guys and gals that work there, so nice to see that it isn't always about money, They give me hope that there are still good things happening out here. Thank you so much Arrowsmith bikes costumer for life...

I rented a very decent Rocky Mountain 10 bike from Oceanside outfitters in July 2019. The ride around Lasqueti is very pleasant with a couple of beaches to stop at and relatively car free hilly dirt roads . There is a hotel /pub at fakes bay where the ferry lands You need a mountain bike or a hybrid or gravel bike with 32 mm plus tires . Suspension is useful for the sweeping corners that are gravel covered with washboard in some spots. I called Greg at Oceanside outfitters about one minute after closing to try and get a bike for the 9:45 ferry the next day. Greg kindly offered to open the store at 8:30 the next morning and I made the ferry with no problem. He also let me drop the bike off after shop closing time , at his beach rental spot. A really nice guy and I appreciate the above and beyond service and the great bike as well. Stefan

We were visiting Vancouver Island from California and honestly didn't expect to find a full-service…read morebike shop of this caliber in Nanaimo. Coal City Cycles absolutely exceeded our expectations. Our trip could have been derailed when my son's wheel was damaged during a ride. Robin and his crew rebuilt the wheel and had it ready the very next morning. The workmanship was excellent, and the wheel has been flawless ever since. While we were there, they also fitted my son with a new saddle, and he says it's the most comfortable saddle he's ever ridden. They didn't stop there--they helped another friend with a broken wheel, diagnosed an intermittent electrical contact issue on another friend's e-bike, and even set us up with rental bikes so everyone in our group could keep riding and enjoy the day. The customer service was exceptional from start to finish. Robin and his team are knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely care about keeping people on the trails. They went above and beyond to save our riding trip, and we couldn't be more grateful. If you're riding on Vancouver Island, I can't recommend Coal City Cycles highly enough. This is exactly the kind of local bike shop every riding community hopes to have. Five stars all the way!

I cannot recommend them enough! today was icing on the cake when we walked in with my daughters flat tire (she is 11) and she asked them to teach her. He patiently taught her and she walked out of there with a fixed tire and beaming smile so excited from that experience.

It is truly amazing. I think that the owner buyer Elaine has such keen eyes for unique, beautiful, whimsical shoes which are very comfortable. I have been at her store with local friends as well as with my out of town women friends from Vancouver, Paris, Seattle, Palm Springs.... Some of them are very picky fashion forward women of all ages. They all loved the store and brought some unique and very comfortable shoes back with them. Young people visit the store naturally, but for us, mature women, the shoes can no longer be please the eyes but need to fit our often misshapen feet from the years of hard work, and be very comfortable. It is quite a feat to satisfy all the requirements. I think that it is great that Elaine seem to understand it all very well. Of all the places, tucked in the corner of our sweet Old Town Square. We are very fortunate indeed. And some of us may have changed clothes size over the years, but shoe size remain pretty constant. We can enjoy the unique colors and styles of shoes at any age. Thank you Elaine.'
