Had my car picked up and taken to a shop by Arrowhead earlier today. The one star is literally only because my car got where it was supposed to.
The guy they sent to pick it up was incredibly rude and unprofessional despite telling us several times to "stop freaking out" because "I'm a professional". The first time we "freaked out" was because he backed down the hill to where our car was and pushed his lift under our back tires, pushing the car forward despite us telling him that the front wheel was off and the car was up on a jack. After telling us it was fine, he then put his truck in park and let off the break, letting his truck roll back a bit and pushing the car even further. When we "freaked out" again, he told us "It's a truck, it's gonna roll back!"
Now, I'm aware that trucks roll downhill when you park them and let off the break since I frequently tow a boat trailer. However, knowing this, I always stop my truck a few inches short of where I need it to be so that, when it does inevitably roll back a bit, I've compensated for it. You'd think a "professional" would know to do the same.
At this point, he gets out of the truck, points to the jack whick is holding up the car, now tipped onto only 2 of its 4 wheels, and says "See? It's fine". If this hadn't been a proper mechanic's jack, but one of those little jacks they give you with your car's spare tire, it would have fallen off the jack and hit the ground for sure.
In order to get the car turned around, he decides he's going to put the wheel back on our car and put the front wheels on a dolly. However, he tries for about 10 second to put the wheel on and says that the reason our car broke down is probably because this isn't the right wheel for the car because he can't get it to seat right. This is the wheel that came off the car, that it's driven over 300k miles on, and that Wheel Works was able to seat properly in that spot just fine when they rotated my tires 2 weeks ago. So he ends up putting it on the dolly with the wheel on sitting crooked on the bolts and only one nut screwed halfway in place.
So he finally gets the car hooked up and is getting ready to leave when he takes the brick that we'd had behind the rear tire and tosses it about 5ft downhill ONTO OUR JACK which is still pretty new and nice looking since my husband takes care of his tools. He says nothing about this until ask literally asked "Are you kidding me?" at which point he says "It's a jack, it's meant to get all dirty and dinged up anyway". Had the guy literally just said "I'm sorry" instead of making excuses for his behavior it would have been no big deal but when I got upset, he literally argued with me about why I shouldn't care! When he couldn't get me to agree that it was no big deal that he'd thrown a brick at something of ours (doesn't matter what it was, don't throw bricks at other peoples belongings!) he started telling me that he didn't even have to work today because it's his birthday so he shouldn't have to put up with me being rude to him. I don't know why he thinks it being his birthday means he doesn't have to be professional at work, but I've worked plenty of my own birthdays and was still expected to perform my duties the same as any other day I'm being paid to do so. And if he didn't want to work on his birthday (and according to him, didn't HAVE TO work on his birthday) then why is he?
He then threatened to just leave our car there and said he was calling his manager to tell him he's not towing our car. When I didn't apologize, he then stood there with his phone in hand telling me about how it's his birthday and he's gonna call his manager and leave our car where it is until I told him "Either call your manager and unhook our car or tow the car to where it's going, I don't care which" and walked away from him. When he realized he wasn't going to get me to apologize to him, he just got in his truck and ended up towing the car away.
If this was someone I'd called and was paying for myself, I would have told him to leave my car alone and called someone else as soon as he almost knocked my car off the jack. Unfortunately, the company fixing my car is the one that called/hired them and I didn't want to have to wait until Tuesday for them to get another truck out to pick up my car. read more
