Aroom Coffee is such a gem--I'm so glad I found it next to my sister's old apartment. Coming from NYC to LA, I was craving good coffee, and Aroom delivered. On warm days, the coconut coffee is my go-to--light and refreshing. On cold days, I love the black sesame latte (less sweet, always). The seasonal pandan latte is great too, though I wish it had a bit more pandan punch. Honestly, this place is more than coffee for me--it's a little joy that helps me through tough days. I visited this shop post running a 5K and it was the perfect place to catch my breath, even though my breath was taken the second I walked in due to the cohesive and unique aesthetic. It is truly one of a kind compared to neighboring shops with lots of earthy tones, round shapes, and comforting architecture. There were no retail coffee beans to grab, but ended up ordering a black sesame matcha, avocado latte, and a pork floss house cake which was so good we had to place another order. Both drinks were amazing but the avocado latte really crushed my expectations with the balanced flavor and texture. Surprisingly I didn't find it to be as sweet as I was expecting, which is a good thing. The place is pretty small so it gets packed quick - luckily I was able to find a table to work from for a while but noticed there's also outdoor seating as well. Parking is a hit or miss as it is all street parking but nothing too bad. On the way out I decided to get the iced egg cream coffee and I found it just as good as the sesame one! There is a lot of seating, but this place seems to be very busy all the time so don't be surprised if you don't find a spot to sit at. 1. Egg coffee - 4.5/5 - I got this iced. It's really good and not too sweet. The foam on top pairs really well with the coffee. 2. Sesame latte - 4.75/5 - Not too sweet at all. I'd describe it as "고소해" or a taste that is on-par with being nutty? Or maybe like a hint of sesame oil? It's hard to explain, but it's delicious. 3. Hubby and I was wanting Vietnamese coffee while we were out and about and wanted to try a different place that sells it. I Yelped and came upon Aroom Coffee and decided to give them a try. Parking is a little hard to find, but we managed to find a spot. The place was pretty packed when we got there. There was a small line that formed for people to order and there were people who were still waiting for their order. Décor was very pleasing. I love the aesthetics of it. When it was our turn we ordered a coffee to share. I believe we got the Saigon Brown to share. Both Hubby and I thought that it was good but that we had better. It was a good experience and we enjoyed being able to go to a different places to get Vietnamese coffee. Nice interior with minimalist decor, clean bathroom and they always have good viet bop playing in the background. Parking was difficult since its street parking so its just luck if you get a parking spot that's close loll. Even tho theres a lot of people coming in and out it didnt take long for my coffee order to be ready and they were really busy so we didn't have a chance to sit down to hang around sadly. I've been to Aroom quite a few times now and basically I'm trying my best to work through their menu since they've all been hits! Anytime I have visitors come into town this is one of the first coffee shops I take them too since it's so stunning and calming inside and their drinks are such a treat! That being said, their drinks are on the richer/sweeter side since Viet coffee is sweetened with condensed milk. Regardless, I'm still obsessed and welcome the sweet decadence of their lattes. So far my favorites are their signature black sesame latte and their salty coffee. I'd highly recommend one of those if it's your first time visiting! If you haven't heard of Vietnamese egg coffee, you might be wondering "you're adding egg into my coffee??". But honestly think of it as more like an egg-nog cream top. Trust me, it's really good! Initially I was a little off-put by the number of people inside, but I was pleasantly surprised by how organized and fast the service was. Don't let this deter you! Finally had the chance to try Aroom after seeing rave reviews on Instagram and was not disappointed. I tried the black sesame latte with less sweetness and oat milk. It's located in an apartment/office complex on the first floor on Stone Way N in Fremont. There's only street parking around the area that may or may not be difficult to find during business hours. Of course, I got the Black Sesame Latte. And omg, definitely exceeded my expectations! There was sooo much flavor in this small cup of latte that I was surprised how delicious it was. The black sesame foam was definitely there and not just decoration. Mixing it together with the coffee brought some sweetness and nuttiness on top of what was in the coffee. YUM! It wasn't too sweet to my liking either. I really enjoyed my cup of coffee and wanted to continue savoring it. My boyfriend got their Egg Coffee. came on a sunday afternoon. there are quite some seats here but i had to wait for people to leave before being able to grab a seat. nice bonus: free wifi! gloomy matcha (4/5): drink itself is $7 but with +$1 for oat milk and tax, it added up to $8.83. you can taste the sesame in the drink but the matcha itself seems a bit overshadowed. i think you can still taste the matcha as well, but i don't think it's a prominent flavor. seemed to be a bit on the sweeter side as well. decently sized cup and 1/3 of the cup was ice. overall a yummy dessert drink, but would not recommend if you're looking for more of the matcha taste. would maybe come back to try their other drinks next time! read more

The staff was helpful in showing the sizes and helping me decide if I preferred a hot or cold option of the drink (sometimes that affects flavor so I like to ask). I also had a croissant, which they warmed for me and that was good as well. I came here to try their drinks and do some work, and it was a good spot for both. There's lots of natural light even on a cloudy day. It's clean and there's several tables and a little area with little stools and such in the corner. This place was a huge disappointment. I got the iced gloomy matcha (black sesame cream matcha) with oat milk and no sweetener. It tasted sour, dusty, and dry. Initially, I thought it came from the oat milk since some brands of oat milk can taste sour, so I went back and asked if the barista could remake it with whole milk instead. Despite having a sign up front stating they're happy to remake drinks to customer satisfaction, the barista gave me an odd look when I mentioned the sour taste and asked if I still wanted it made without sweetener. I confirmed yes, then realized the drink was probably sour precisely because it lacked sweetener. If you are familiar with matcha, you would know that quality matcha shouldn't taste sour, and it certainly shouldn't rely on sweetener just to be palatable. I found it particularly ironic that the barista seemed to judge my request for a remake when they literally advertise that service. Unfortunately, my second drink was even worse than the first--I can taste chunks of matcha powder in it. For a cafe supposedly famous for their matcha drinks, they couldn't even properly whisk the matcha. It appears the cafe uses cheap matcha powder and tries to mask its poor quality with creative cream toppings, hoping customers won't notice the underlying product is nearly undrinkable. The interior perfectly captures that textbook Instagram aesthetic, but the experience of actually sitting there tells a different story. The tables and chairs are clearly chosen for appearance over function--they feel wobbly and cheap. The space isn't designed for people to linger and enjoy themselves, but rather to snap a photo, sit for maybe 15 minutes, and leave. Overall, this isn't an enjoyable place to spend time. The drink quality, customer service, and atmosphere all need significant improvement. read more

This coffee has a black sesame foam on top and wow! Taste just like black sesame. The coffee is the traditional Vietnamese coffee and was amazing mixed with the black sesame foam. This drink reminds me a lot of the Chinese black sesame balls (mochi balls with black sesame filling). Delicious all around! The avocado coffee was very interesting. This has smashed avocado at the bottom and coffee at the top. It's a mixed of a smoothie / coffee. It wasn't my favorite but my bf had enjoyed it as he liked avocado smoothies! The sup mang cua was very good! It was my first time trying. There were a lot of ingredients inside, from stressed chicken to quail eggs to mushrooms, and even some lobster or crab? It was very flavorful and great for a cold day. They only offer this item on Saturdays and Sundays. I also got a sesame latte with oat milk. However, the Seattle cream used still has dairy (just fyi for other lactose intolerant people). The sesame flavor was there, but not too strong. And the latte is more on the sweet side rather than coffee-forward. They have outlets for charging, but wifi was a bit poor. Get aroom... in Vancouver, please. Aroom is one of my favourite coffee shops and has become a staple in my Seattle itinerary. It was so nice that I had it twice in my two days there. So far, I've only tried the Sesame Latte ($6.75), Gloomy Matcha ($6.75), and Galaxy Drink ($5.50), and the winner by far is the Sesame Latte. Yes, it is on the pricier side, but it is truly tiered perfection: the top layer is the creamy sesame foam, which has a subdued sweetness; the middle layer is the nutty Vietnamese coffee; and the bottom layer is the sweet condensed milk. Separately, the flavours all work, but together is *chef's kiss*. If you're lactose intolerant, there are milk alternatives available. I requested mine with less ice, but less sweet is also an option. What might be sweeter than the drinks is the service itself, which is very friendly, professional, and efficient. Once your drink is ready, your buzzer will go off. Aroom has a sign which explicitly says to let them know if you are unsatisfied with your drink so that they can make it right. Coming in solo, I've also asked to leave my drink behind the counter while I use the washroom. If I lived in Seattle, I can imagine myself coming to Aroom on the regular to catch up with friends, grab a quick pick-me-up, or just to hunker down and get some work done. The space is modern with high ceilings, natural light, and plenty of seating, both indoor and outdoor. For now, unfortunately, I shall wait until my next trip to try more of their delicious drinks. read more

We ordered two Gloomy Matchas-matcha and oat milk topped with Aroom's signature sesame cream and light ice! While we requested light ice, it felt like that did not go through because thirty minutes later, there was still a lot of ice in our cups. The default cup size for this drink is a large 16 oz and it was 10% sesame cream, 90% matcha which was disappointing as I was looking forward to the sesame aspect.
