My wife selected the AROMA CHICKEN SALAD and I ordered CRAB AND SHRIMP RAVIOLI. Everything was superb! The service is always great, and the menu...! The food here is creative with excellently designed flavor combinations for quite the upscale culinary experience. The price is on the high end though, it's not cheap! I have a hard time choosing from the variety of dishes on the menu, but I'm also a big fan of the chicken mole dish. Chose the Caesar salad, crabcake, Cioppino, and chocolate mousse cake for my courses. Everything was exceptional! Grabbed brunch during restaurant week at Aroma. We had a reservation, so we were seated right away, but it was very busy on a Sunday at 12:30. We ordered from the restaurant week menu, and then it took about 30 minutes for our food to come. I got the breakfast quesadilla. It was good, and a GIANT portion! The potatoes were cooked perfectly. Cute place. Me and some friends came here for lunch after goat cuddling. We got waited on right away. Food came out fast which was good. I was starving. I ordered the turkey brie sandwich. Tried out a new brunch spot which was highlighted in KC Restaurant Week. It was very good. GF had ham and cheese and I had Benedict Florentino. I was worried because the parking lot was full but we were seated promptly. Bar tender made a good Bloody Mary with a pico infused vodka that was very good. Casual atmosphere. They have a happy hour. Alas, saddened to see a favorite go to the wayside. Honestly, the last several times there were bad but I didn't want to lose hope. But tonight did it for me, probably for good :(. My family gets the kids burgers and fries. They aren't usually good on a Saturday but I feel like Friday evenings they have their best chef working. So we ordered tonight. The meat they used was rancid!!! Like the burgers actually smelled and 2 of my 4 family members got sick immediately after and threw up. Luckily my 2 youngest noticed that their burger smelled and so didn't eat it. I ordered a salad that I am now afraid to eat. I don't understand how they didn't notice that the meat was bad! For about 5 years everything was always perfect here. There was a period where it slowly but surely went downhill. I'd say 1 out of my last 5 orders was amazing. 1 was horrid and 3 were blah. Their brunch used to get me so excited and quiche is my absolute favorite food. When they added it to the menu full time I was ecstatic. But it's crazy salty and inedible 3/4 times. read more

We arrived right on time for our 6:30 reservation after driving 45 minutes. The young man hosting checked us in and then came back to ask if we could wait a few minutes and we said of course but then looking around noticed several empty tables and 2 larger full tables, we were party of 5. I asked to clarify how long we would be waiting and he said 20 minutes, waiting for one of the bigger tables to leave. I suggested that they push a 2 top and 4 top together, he said no. I asked very politely to speak with a manager or owner and was told they were to busy. This seemed crazy. Finally a server came over and asked if we would be ok adding a seat to end of 4 top which we were. (Spoiler alert, the table he was asking us to wait for didn't get cleared until 7:15 pm, so we would have been waiting 45 minutes past our reservation time while other tables sat empty. Jocelyn was was the server and she was amazing. Now for the review: Ambiance- cute but so bright, they should invest in dimmers. Drinks- we all thought our cocktails were great but we did wait a long time for them. The bartender brought them out and was very nice but seemed very over extended. The water tastes pretty bad but a lemon wedge fixed it fine. Food- all of the food was very good!! I had the plobano chicken, we shared onion rings and queso. We ordered strawberry tres leches and bread pudding for dessert. They put a candle in the bread pudding because it was my birthday but they did not comp it, not that I expected that but it is obviously not unusual and given the way our evening started I might have expected some recovery action. Overall, the food is great. Jocelyn was great. Would I drive 45 minutes to go here? No. Our bill for party of 5 was $250. You might think the owner or manager might have come out to apologize for the reservation mess and attitude of the host, he got very snippy with us. read more

May be the best eats in Smithville. This small town has a few quaint eateries but this one has some unique plates. The Ceasars salad is a nice choice for a healthy meal. This cute little restaurant is easy to miss in Smithville. It's on the outer part of town so people may not realize it's there. We went there a few years ago and were not impressed with the menu so never went back. I believe it closed for a bit and then reopened. We decided to go back and menu has completely changed! So many more options. We are greeted as we enter the restaurant and seated quickly. It may take a few minutes for the waitress to come take our drink orders, but not enough to be frustrating - plus it gives us time to look at the menu. The bartender brings the drinks out himself (maybe the restaurant doesn't want to pay for the waitresses to get their liquor license? - I'm not sure and have never asked). The food comes out quickly and the waitress always checks on us soon after that. It is a little out of our way, but when we want to have something different, this is our go to place. I had never been to the Aroma Bistro before, but I was taken there by family to celebrate my birthday. Upon walking in you get the sense that the restaurant is cute, very clean, and quaint. The waitress was very polite and attentive to our needs. I decided to order the Aroma Burger which was on the Brunch Menu. The burger was AMAZING and the fries that came with it are my favorite kind. My only slight complaint is that the burger wasn't as Well as I requested, however, it was still fully cooked and delicious. However, I went during restaurant week, and it took first place amongst all the places I tried. A complete disaster! Menu offers salmon with risotto, advertises tiramisú as well... they said they didn't have any and I had to buy a side of risotto, so I did! First of all risotto is a very rich side, I rather quality than this huge bowl of regular rice mixed with canned mushroom soup and cheese... everything in this rice is disappointing, please... No tiramisú, so I picked 3 leches... please again! Go to costa Rica or Nicaragua and have a real Tres Leches so you can offer something better than that cake. Salmon picatta... it wasn't dry which is great, you can tell is farmed though. Potatos and capers extremely salty no good, roasted tomatos ok so basically I just ate the salmon and tomatos Someone needs to take cooking classes in order to have guests coming back. I had heard fantastic things about Aroma Bistro and was excited to try it except I was not sure if I should try brunch or go for dinner. Saturday morning and I asked my wife if she would like to try brunch so off we go. First the menu has a lot of variety so many things to try like the Tres Leches French Toast, chilaquiles poblanos my only option was to pick a dish that I normally do not make at home so I chose the Carnitas Fritatta. My two favorite types of food Mexican and Italian mixed together. It was a very good choice it turned out. House made carnitas, eggs, potatoes chihuahua cheese so much flavor and a great portion. Met the owner Mario and learned about the history of his restaurant which he opened at the start of the covid pandemic this proves the hard work and dedication he had to put into his restaurant in order to survive. I could go on about what a great place this is but you will find the best thing to do is study the menu as I did and just know you will not go wrong no matter what you choose. The food is always amazing at Aroma Bistro. I usually get the Carbonara but, on March 15th, I changed it up and had a steak. It was so good. We had a party of 9 and everyone was very happy with their meal. Of note was the service. We had a reservation but, there was some confusion among the staff and our table was given to another party. The host was very apologetic. We waited about 30 minutes until we were seated. This was no big deal especially because we had access to the bar. As soon as we were seated, we were presented with free apps and enough for a party of 9 to enjoy. Visited Aroma bistro for the first time today. I was looking forward to it BUT I was greatly disappointed. Let's start with service. The waitress seemed extremely uninterested in being at work. She didn't even bother greeting us or introducing herself. We waited for 40mins before she returned to refill the coffee. She did not bring us silverware for a good hour. We were there for over 2hrs, she came to the table to take our order, refill drinks once, bring food and bring the check. That was it! Then there is the food. An hour and a half wait for 2 brunch entrees is outrageous. The food itself was good (and the only reason why this place gets 2 stars), but under no circumstances should anyone wait this long. I think customers need to be warned if the wait is that long. The menu is too long for a small place with limited staff. Here is a tip - limit the menu items so food can move faster. Smithville was seriously lacking in adventurous restaurants until recent years. The location sits on the "border" of Smithville, and you just might miss it unless you're watching for it. The interior is painted in calming colors ,and gives off a very grown up café vibe. The waitstaff is great and just the right amount of attentive. Their steaks were unexpected in the best way possible. The chimichurri should NOT be missed. The Chipotle Sweet Potato Mash..... so good. The pastas seem handmade, not sure if they actually are. Vianney was our server and besides also being classy, she was both pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere is light, calm and quiet. Easy to carry on a conversation which is unique given the popularity of industrial style restaurant designs that don't do much to suppress background noise. We both had the avocado BLT which was fresh and delish with a slightly spicy taste. It comes with fries which have a unique coating. We both thought they were excellent. We were offered desert and I couldn't resist ordering the Tiramisu. It was a perfect end to a very enjoyable lunch. I asked to look at the dinner menu and while limited I have no doubt about getting an equally enjoyable meal.
