    Chicken Pot Pie

If you are ever down in the KC Westport area there is a little spot called Potpie at 904 Westport Rd. It is American comfort food that is delightful. The popular dish is the potpie but they have other things on the menu. I tried the roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. The waitress was pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive. The crispness of the skin was top notch and the chicken very moist. The place could be a great date night or even a family night. This is a great spot for comfort! Oh. My. Goodness! I had some work friends wanting to go here so the first chilly day we had here we came for lunch. I had never really been a pot pie lover. Thinking of those awful Marie calendar meals. But this is on another level. I did t realize their menu was French inspired or what exactly they offered besides pot pie. I got the chicken and veggie lunch pot pie and it was absolutely perfect. The amazing crust on top was warm and flakey. The chicken inside was perfectly tender and the sauce was seasoned just right. I also got a side of pomme de fin which the waitress described as a fancy tater tot but they were SO much better! The inside of the restaurant is reminiscent of little French cafes with a dark interior and a small bar. The people who worked there were real and pleasant. I will 100% be back for another pot pie would also love to try dinner there.

Okay id like to start by saying the service was excellent. The place is small so id suggest making a reservation. Parking is also very limited so be wary of that. Personally for the price i would not go back. The portion size and the quality just wasn't all the way there. It didn't have enough flavor. The puff pastry was also misleading when you dig in there's not much underneath.

Little to none filling inside the pie, over priced, chicken was overcooked. I could have made a better pot pie. Also the service was terrible, super hot inside even though it was 30 degrees outside. Made reservations but still waited 30 minutes took the server 40 minutes to come see the table.

The food was amazing as always. Ambiance was incredible with the dim lighting and good music. The drinks were so yummy. The wait staff was super attentive and friendly. We ordered the red snapper and matzo ball soup. My mom would make me matzo ball soup when I was growing up. The soup at pot pie did lack the usual other ingredients (chicken, actual chunks of celery and carrot) even though there was very tiny tiny tiny cut up veggies part of the fun is getting to eat them. But I will say it had flavor.. my mom's does not. So that's a win! The only thing was my partner got really sick when we got home.. he threw up and I'm not sure if it was related or not but we'll still be back

The food was very good, the ambience was great, service was good! Go in expecting to pay for the quality of the food and experience, not a big meal you won't finish. I left happy and full with a clean plate. I would definitely visit again! It's a very cute and cozy little place.

Open for lunch, had my favorite must have goat cheese salad with beet dressing. Always perfect. Had the steak frites, delicious. My favorite restaurant in KC for more than a decade!

Such a cool little hole in the wall in Midtown. With nice seating options and a bay window spot, so many options. I got the chicken pot pie with the pammes das? Reminded me of home style cooking and a big warm hug. I couldn't get enough of it. Sooo good. I recommend coming here for a little lunch stop or nice dinner for a night out! I will so be coming back here. On their menu it says "Good food NOT Fast food" and yes, the food didn't come out immediately, but it took a short amount of time to make the perfect meal! So yummy, definitely stop by!

Potpie has a warm and cozy vibe in a historic building in Westport. You can dress up or down here without feeling out of place. It's a small building and gets a little bit loud but that kind of gives it a local pub feel. They have free bread service, with butter and a crusty French baguette they slice in-house. They definitely didn't skimp which we loved! We ordered two pot pies - the vegetable root and chicken and vegetable. The crust was flaky and nicely salted on both. The chicken and vegetable pot pie had a rich chicken flavor and a good amount of chicken inside. We felt that a more substantial vegetable would have been nice but overall enjoyed the dish. The vegan pot pie had a hearty feel with tender brussel sprouts and carrots, but a bit lighter in flavor than the chicken pot pie. Their cocktails were good as well - the overwhelming crowd favorite was the Tulip which was refreshing and not too citrusy. We were a table of 9 on a Friday night, so the service was a bit slow but did not effect our experience. Our waitress was friendly and our water was always full. I think this is a nice restaurant to eat at and then walk over to Westport main for a couple of drinks.

So excited to walk up and they had a table for 2 available! Bread to start, the menu is updated on the board, a selection of drinks and the smells are heavenly. The pot pies come out fresh and so hot! The soup was very flavorful and pot pies are very large - huge portions. Cute setting & atmosphere! Parking is on street.

Gram & Dun was one of those restaurants. We show up for our reservations and get seated for a wonderful meal. Ambiance was surreal. The vibes inside were that of a modern Italian kitchen inside of a Southern parlor room. I know that doesn't make any sense, but it's true. And the restaurant looks out upon the quaint downtown street of this Kansas City suburb through giant, floor-to-ceiling windows. So beautiful. Service was great, as well. The server knew the menu very well, and was able to answer a few questions, guiding me to the correct thing to order. The apps, entrees, and dessert were all paced well, too. Service lead to a lovely evening. As for the food, we started off with the Not-So-Standard Potato Chips (parmesan, sauce flight: gold sauce, comeback sauce, black pepper bourbon ketchup). These were very good. House cooked chips that were just thick enough, had a good bite to them, and were absolutely covered in luscious parm. The sauce flight was fun, too. Keep the leftovers around to pair with the rest of your meal. Onto the Low Country Pimento Cheese (fried saltine crackers, candied black pepper bacon, bread & butter pickles, tomato jalapeño jam). Hillbilly charcuterie. Lots of fun to mix and match some bacon, some pickles, a little jam, all on those very unctuous Saltines. Very fun app. My main was the Brick Pressed Chicken (lemon & thyme brine, prosciutto & sausage bread pudding, caramelized cabbage, lemon & shallot cream sauce). Chicken was cooked to a charred perfection, that savory bread pudding was just an amazing as it sounds, and the cream sauce really brightened everything up. I don't usually get chicken, but I'm telling you, this was the chicken to get. I also got to try one of the nightly specials, some sort of cheesy parmesan pasta covered in black truffle shavings. It was as extravagant as it sounds. Fresh-made pastas, giant chunks of lobster, cheesy ooey gooey, and those truffle shavings add just a touch of class and umami that really made this a good pasta dish. We finished up with the Gram & Dun Bar (chocolate peanut and pretzel nougat, marshmallow cream cheese, chocolate mousse, peanut butter ice cream). Again, another thing I don't usually go for, the dessert bar, but this place did it in a way I haven't seen before. Each layer added to the dessert. Nougat, cream cheese, and mousse, all tied together with that cold, creamy peanut butter ice cream. So so good. Overall, as good as this place was on paper, Gram & Dun really blew me away. Really elegant food, found right in the heart of the country. It was a pleasant surprise, and I would come back in a heartbeat.

I'm surprised I've never reviewed this Kansas City staple of a restaurant on the Country Club…read morePlaza, I've been coming here for years. I've had some amazing meals here, with exceptional service at the bar for happy hour as well as in the dining room for dinner. However, brunch service can be a little off sometimes (especially on Holidays like Easter or Mother's Day). My last time I was here was for their restaurant week 2026 menu and it was a fantastic experience, I had never dined here for restaurant week and I'll definitely return next year. I came for the tail end of lunch and ordered the fried oysters and the burger with fries. The oysters stole the show (I believe these are also on their happy hour menu but don't quote me on that). They were crispy coated in a cornmeal batter and tasted a touch briny without being too fishy. I loved the southern style take on this dish, it was served over a tremendous remoulade sauce that has the perfect amount of tanginess and creaminess. Now onto the smash burger, this is on the happy hour menu for $10 and all I can say is just order it! It's rich and meaty, with ooey gooey cheese. It has a classic "burger sauce" that I ask for an extra side of to dip my fries in because it's that good! The sweet onion and house made pickles help cut through all that beef and bacon, oh yeah did I mention there's salty chopped bacon on this burger too?! It has everything you want from a smash burger at a sit down restaurant. As far as brunch goes, the dishes are nice, there's nothing wrong with a classic brunch menu but I've had hit or miss service. The toast trio is my go-to I've had it a few times, on the menu they have named them "planks" but let's face it they're really just fancy topped toasts. I like to do all three so that I get a mix of savory and sweet. The two Benedicts on the menu are also very good, they're unique because one has pork belly and another has a crab cake. They do some drinks really well and some of the ones I've sampled on their rotating seasonal menus just don't do it for me. But, on their classic menu they have a drink called Fly Me To The Moon which if you like bourbon and aperol you should try, I like to switch it up from an old fashioned sometimes and since this has orange bitters and lemon it's familiar while still being a nice change. Also, a lot of mocktails are offered if you still want something refreshing without alcohol. Happy Hour is king here so if you're ever shopping on the plaza, need a place to meet with the girls, or on a date I would highly recommend Gram & Dun but, be aware it's only offered inside, in the bar area and not on the patio. It's also only 2 hours (3-5) Monday through Friday so plan ahead so you can make the most out of it!

They were clearly short staffed. Felt bad for her. She came over, apologized, and took our drink orders. The adults had coffee and the younger ones had water and lemonade. Our coffee was warm. Not hot, just warm. We ordered the cinnamon roll and the goat cheese sampler. Boith were tasty. For our meals, I ordered the Rye Breakfast with over medium eggs. For those that don't know, over medium is a fine line between runny yolk and cooked all the way yolk. My eggs were basically over easy. Check the picture. It was yolk all through the plate. My gravy was cold and the biscuit was hard as a rock. The only thing I ate was the bacon from my meal. My hash brown tasted like oil and was hard and cold. My kids didn't like their pancakes. The oldest said it was too doughy and was cold. I also asked for no oranges on top but, they both had oranges. The youngest one just didn't eat it at all after one bite. Hubs meal was also cold. Again, our waitstaff was doing the best she could being they were so short on staff. We won't be back though.

Nice server took care of us, made sure our glasses were never empty. The food came out at a good clips, and we got an unexpected bonus of free little beignet-like donuts with some delicious dipping sauces. As for food, we started off with a jumbo order of the Truffle Parmesan Hand-Cut Fries for the table. We got to choose two from their extensive list of aioli dipping sauces. Fries were good. Dusted with the perfect amounts of truffle and parmesan. And the sauces were my oh my. I recommend paying the upcharge to just try them all. I mentioned the time earlier, because we had no idea we were stumbling upon their brunch menu. Even more options to choose from! I got the Crispy Waffle Smash Burger (smashed hertzog beef patties, fried egg, smoked bacon, merkt's cheddar, caramelized onion, maple aioli, crispy buttermilk waffle). This thing was really nice. Perfect waffle, not too small, not too big, and no oily or anything obtrusive. A nice bun option. Eggs and bacon sometime get lost against giant burger patties, but with these smash patties, the extra accoutrements really stand out and make this burger really stand out in my mind. I also for the try the Smokestack Burger (smoked burnt ends, smoked gouda, whiskey bbq glaze, pickle relish, chipotle aioli & crispy jalapeño straws). Uhhh, as you can read, this thing was loaded with goodness. Fatty burger, smokey burnt ends, sweet boozy glaze, acidic pickles, and texture from that jalapeno. This was the perfect burger. That should be a centerpiece, and it was disappointing. There was one broccolini dish that the sign said was with lemon butter and cotija cheese, but appeared to be just steamed broccolini with absolutely no seasoning. I asked and was told they wanted to keep it vegan, but..... seriously, no salt? Pepper? Oil? Apparently not, just sad, plain broccolini. They did at least white out the accompaniments on the sign to correct themselves, so that's something I guess, but you really do expect something better from an establishment like this. The server was attentive to our drinks- the brunch was bottomless- but hard to find to get the check. The biggest weak spot both years has been the dessert table. There were perhaps five small desserts on a small cocktail table. Really not what you'd expect. The bacon was pretty good, however, you often find a lot of undercooked bacon on buffets. One conspicuously good thing is that, unlike so many other places on Easter, the tables were spaced well apart. Many places will pack the diners in like sardines, and this was not the case here- we had ample room to move about. Altogether, Grand Street needs to step it up for Easter Brunch. There just wasn't really anything special about it, and some elements were very much lacking. It didn't feel like a brunch you go to in celebration, which in my opinion an Easter brunch should. Nothing stood out, it was fairly plain [including decor] and it just needed MORE.

It was more wrap than anything. The filling was a lot of black beans. More than anything else was back beans. Hubs had the Prime Rib omelet and a waffle. He said that the slices are prime rib were very large which made the omelet seem more like a scramble with just prime rib. He really enjoyed the waffle. The teenager had pancakes which he said was good and the toddler had French Toast. The French Toast was very dough and she didn't like it and I don't blame her. It should have been cooked longer to rid that doughy texture. The buffet was nice though. The salads were good and the fruit was very fresh. One thing that happened, that the restaurant should take into consideration: hubs wanted the syrup. We had a small metal metal container that had cream in it for coffee and one that had warm syrup in it. I went to check which one was which and the syrup one was so hot and sticky, it got stuck on my finger. When I pulled my hand back, the whole container spilled all over me. Luckily, the syrup inside wasn't that hot, just the container it was in. There's no reason that container was that hot based on the lukewarm temperature of the syrup. Mark sprang into action, getting hot towels for me to clean myself up. Needless to say, I left very sticky. Overall, not a bad place. We will be back for brunch again, making sure to order different things. Mark was thw MVP though of that experience. I hope he's on task to become manager soon because he knew what he was doing.
