Had a great lunch outing at this restaurant in College Park! We were greeted by a friendly face as soon as we walked in. Our server was very attentive and patient with us since we shared it was our first time visiting. We started with Caesar salads that came out very quickly. I was impressed that the anchovies were clean and not wildly salty. As we looked over the lunch menu, our server let us know we have to option of selecting dinner items too. They're also willing to change the pasta on any dish which I really appreciated. Overall we had a great experience and will visit again soon. Wow. Armando's is a top-notch place! We had a large party - I think there were twelve of us. One person in our party lives in Armando's building, and they are regulars. We had no trouble getting reservations. The ambiance is very nice - well-decorated and spacious. The service and the food were both outstanding. With so many of us, I couldn't ask everyone to wait to start eating so I could take pictures of their food. I did get one picture of my Salmon Salad, which was great. Walked in and was immediately seated. They have a very extensive menu and drink menu. Some of the pastas are homemade. Our server was so attentive and nice. Fun little Italian place in Winter Park. I'd say that the good is the ambience, whether inside or outside it's quite nice and gives that 'small neighborhood niche' energy. Our server was super nice and offered us a tiramisu on the house unprompted. The energy is nice and chill. However, the food is quite underwhelming. The bruschetta was fine and had a fresh flavor from the tomatoes but I think it could've had more flavor. Definitely not the worst I've ever had but nothing spectacular. 5/10 The free bread was good, it was dusted with cheese and came with a delightful little olive oil. I got the Rigatoni Armando's which is essentially just rigatoni pasta with a mid marinara sauce (plus sausage n peppers which was nice). The pasta was a little undercooked in my opinion, as it was a little chewy. The sauce was kind of bland too. It tastes like it could've come out of a jar. It was the perfect time to grab a table, and enjoy a lull where the restaurant was pretty wide open. Joriath seated us and continued to lead us throughout the meal. He's been at the restaurant for over seven years and it's clear he's a fan favorite server. Below are some food highlights: - meatballs antipasti: wow- this is one of, if not THE best meatball dish I've had in Orlando. It comes with two massive balls, tomato sauce, and a dollop of ricotta. We split it amongst three of us and it was a great size. - Arancini antipasti: order this now. Do it. Immediately. She's cheesy and rice and decadent, sitting on a tomato sauce base. The dish comes with three crispy arancini balls and it's a highlight for sure. - ensalata fresca: I highly recommend ordering this side salad and adding shrimp to make it a main dish. I prefer to go heavy on the appetizers and lighter on my meal. The salad was perfectly dressed and the greens are arugula, so expect a ton of peppery flavor. I stopped into Armando's on a Saturday afternoon stroll, in need of some caffeine and a snack. Unfortunately, being a Saturday, we missed their weekday happy hour specials and Sunday brunch specials, but it was the perfect spot to grab a double espresso outside and listen to some live acoustic music playing across the street. Inside is very nice too, dimly lit and rustic Italian vibes so better for dining at dinnertime or dessert. We also ordered the Italian Pizza-nini which the waiter clarified was NOT a pressed sandwich but more of a calzone/stromboli. Not sure why they used the play on words in the name though... but it was delicious and came with a side of marinara sauce for dipping. As someone trying to limit processed meat, the prosciutto was worth the splurge! Lunch prices were very reasonable, especially pasta dishes. If you live in the college park area I would definitely recommend Armando's. I went right before the Jingle Eve craft and food truck event in Ivanhoe Park and I'm sure there will be plenty more holiday events and shopping outings in the coming weeks that require a little stop for sustenance. read more

Stopped by Armando's for lunch on Labor Day. When we arrived just before 1pm there was only 1 person at the bar and no one else in the restaurant, which seemed odd. The hostess and the server were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was very clean and the decor is the right balance of polished and casual. We ordered a pizza to share and two side salads. Nothing was bad. But at the same time nothing was memorable or great. My Ceasar salad tasted similar to a bagged salad that you'd get from the grocery store - it makes do, but not remarkable. The pizza was really bland. Didn't taste bad and the ingredients tasted fresh, but it didn't have much flavor and missed the mark. read more

I came here for dinner one night after the fine readers of Orlando Weekly voted this place as one of the best restaurants in College Park. Since I live in Oviedo, I don't get over to College Park as much as I would like to, so they would surely know better than I would. I decided to take their advice and come see what this place was all about. I made my reservations, found nearby parallel parking, and walked up to this beautiful brick building-esque restaurant that looked like I was walking into an Italian winery of some sort. It's really a stunning visual. Very impressive. We got seated and starting looking at the intimidating menu. We started off with a couple of apps, including the Insalata di Cesare (Romaine, Anchovies, Croutons, and Parmesan Cheese Tossed with Ceasar Dressing). A small salad with a fun salt-bomb anchovie on top. Well-dressed, and a good amount of cheese and croutons. No complaints. Margherita Pizza (Fresh Mozzarella, Plum Tomato Sauce and Basil). The classic pie. The tomato sauce was very fragrant. You can tell it did not come from a can. The mozz was ooey and gooey and gave a good stretch. Could have used more basil, for sure. But the crust was excellent. Held up to the toppings, not too thick, had some bite and some good chew to it. Really good. Then the mains. I got the Vitello Saltimbocca (Tender Veal Scallopini, Topped with san Daniele Prosciutto Crudo, and Fresh Sage, Finished in a White Wine Butter Sauce, served with Parmesan Mashed Potatoes). Veal, cooked perfectly, very tender. A nice umani, salty prosciutto on top to add some depth. The mash was a little much, a huge serving. But overall, quite nice, not something you eat every day. I also got to try the indulgent Ravioli di Aragosta al Frutti di Mare (Lobster Ravioli with Baby Shrimp, Mussels and Calamari Finished in a White Wine Lemon Butter Sauce). Oooh so good. Seafood everywhere, and plenty of it. The butter sauce was nice, and there were mushrooms all through, which always helps. This was clearly the winning dish of the night. It was a busy day for College Park. Lots of people and great music. We decided to have dinner at an outside table at Armando's. Melissa (the manager) worked her wonders finding us a table outside. Our server Miles took care of us. We started with Affettato Misto ( charcuterie platter) and the Insalata do Pollo a fantastic Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Topped the meal off with a Vegetali Pizza a veggie pizza topped with arugula. Very good and a great crust. The girls had lemoncello martinis and I enjoyed a Rodney Strong Cabernet. Highly recommend!! It was a rainy, slow day for my husband and I and we had a great experience. I got the gnocchi and substituted the sauce for vodka sauce at the waitress's recommendation (she was so personable!) and it was delicious. My husband has the classic lasagna and loved it as well. I came here for lunch with my coworkers. There is indoor and outdoor seating available, street parking or a 2 HR parking garage in the back of the building which is convenient (free of charge.) We were seated immediately, and our service was good. The food was good, I had the pappardelle bolognese which is my favorite pasta dish so I've had a it a lot of places. I felt this one could've used some more flavor, it's almost as if the pasta water might've not had salt in it, but it was still good. My coworkers liked their meals, so I would come back here to try a different dish, and am also looking forward to visiting the Winter Park location. read more

We asked the waitress about the salads and she said "they are over there" (on the bar). And the she ran over and brought them to us. So there we are sitting with salads and main course. Entree #1 was "Sunday in Napoli" which is a meat lovers rigatoni dish with "fall off the bone" ribs, sausage, and killer meatballs in a marinara sauce. Entree #2 was "Salmone Sorrentino", a salmon filet perfectly cooked in sauce of butter, white wine, capers and olives served over spinach. Molte Bene!!! They had so many tempting dishes that we must return to try them all! We finished the meal with an incredible tiramisu made in house-- so good... I almost licked the plate. Came here for a dinner date with my wife and were seated within 15 min. Great atmosphere and good service. We ordered the arancini, seafood risotto dish and the Rigatoni Al Formaggi. The Arancini was pretty good for an app, the seafood orzo was quite delicious; however, the Rigatoni was scorching hot to eat. I tried it 10 minutes later and it was still hot. I voiced my opinion but got the comment that's how they made the dish. It appeared like it was left in the oven for too long and it just took away from the enjoyment of the dish. We had a reservation at Armando's in College Park for a birthday dinner and it was a horrible experience. The other reviews said the service was bad and we should have listened. We waited almost 20 minutes before being addressed by our server and another 30 minutes before getting our food. The food was good but it unfortunately did not make up for the bad service. We had called ahead and made a reservation for 8:00pm. When we arrived, we were seated immediately by the host. There were a few tables with customers but a lot of empty tables as well. Two other tables were then seated after us and their server went to them immediately, getting them water and drink requests. At this time, no one addressed us at all. We waited for about 10 minutes before the host felt bad and brought us water, telling us the server will be with us shortly. After another 10 minutes, the server, Matheus, came and took our order. By the time he came around, the other two tables before us got their food already. We waited another 20 minutes with still no appetizer or bread that was ordered. I then had to flag him down to ask about the status of the food and was told he was unsure and would ask the kitchen. Within 10-15 minutes, the bread, calamari appetizer, and two entrees came out at the same time. I am pretty sure the server, Matheus, forgot to put in our order because on the receipt, it states the order was placed at 8:42pm but we have been there since 8:00pm and spoke to the server around 8:20ish. The food was good but the experience ruined it. We continued to see our server addressing other tables while ignoring us. I had to ask him to bring us more water because he never checked up on us. In the end, we had to ask another server to pay our bill as our server was once again ignoring us. I would not recommend coming here. There was no one to check in on us and it was not even busy. Even if they were busy and our server just came to let us know he was running behind, I would understand, but he did not once acknowledge us without us having to flag him down. Neither the bar area in particular nor the restaurant in general were busy. Took quite a while for the barman to even acknowledge I was there. When he did he only brought me the drink menu (and that only after I said I didn't know what I wanted to drink). I had to request that my space at the bar be wiped down and the guy looked disturbed that I asked. And the. He didn't wipe the area closest to me (farthest reach for him). When I asked for lemon for my water he brought it out with his bare unprotected hands. I ordered the filet with mashed and broccoli. Side house salad. Rum cocktail - Old Cubano. For apps, we got the calamari and the smoked salmon carpaccio. The smoked salmon was tasty. It came with bread, peppers, and olives. The calamari was nice and well fried, though a tad rubbery. For my entree, I got the gnocchi and it was delicious! The gnocchi were pillowy and soft. The sauce was bright and rich in tomato flavor. My boyfriend got the chicken Marsala and he loved it. The rest of our family got various pastas and we loved them all. The bread and oil was a nice touch. The reason I took away a star was because of the service. Our waitress was nice, but she was awkward and not the most attentive ever. At the end of the meal, she let us know that an automatic gratuity was added because we were a group larger than 6. We knew this would happens since it's customary. We didn't complain at all, but she felt the need to apologize for it and reminded us that it was management, not her adding the charge. It was awkward for her to apologize and blame management for the gratuity charge since we weren't surprised by it and didn't say anything about it at all. When she came back a second time, she mentioned tipping beyond gratuity and said she "trusted us to do the right thing" which felt like she was asking for us to tip more. We always tip really well and we didn't complain at all so it just felt weird that she kept talking about how much we tipped. It came off a tad pushy.
