Visited ARLO for a Sunday breakfast. ARLO is part of the Town and Country Resort. I figured it would be a nice space but wasn't expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised when we walked in and were greeted by the nice hostess and immediately seated. They have a small breakfast menu but something for everyone type of thing. We ordered two lattes an Avocado Toast Grilled Multigrain added an egg and the Short Rib Hash and Eggs. Both were good and served with fresh ingredients. This place is great if you want to have breakfast in a quieter setting. I also liked the San Diego history artifacts through the restaurant. Pretty Cool. read more

Everything about Arlo's Mothers Day brunch went well. Starting off with the ambiance and reception we received as we got to the hostess, we were welcomed and greeted with flowers as it was Mothers Day. The brunch was probably one of the best I've ever hadI started with a custom omelette with fresh sautéed veggies. But then when I checked out the rest of the food stations they had set up, I got a plate full of fresh seafood including fresh giant prawns, poke, octopus and perfectly grilled swordfish that was all awesome. Now that I was getting close to being full, I went to check out the freshly sliced prime rib cut to your request. The dessert bar was amazing. Even though this restaurant is in a hotel, all food, dessert and service was world class. Loved everything about it. Our cups and glasses were always full and never had to wait for anything due to how many workers they had. Thanks Arlo and staff for one of the best Mothers Day brunches we've ever had. read more

When we arrived we were informed after asking 4 people that grinch wasn't arriving until 11:30. It was pretty crushing to our 3 year old son, we drove from a ways away just to see the grinch. Located next to monkey bar (I had previously been here and thought this was where my friend wanted to have dinner). It was both our first time dining here. We made reservations for a Thursday night, however, there was enough seating for walk in. We were greeted at the host stand and seated right away. Friendly customer service and attentive. I forgot our server's name as this review is long over due from April but I recall it being his first day serving us. He did a great job reviewing the menu and providing us his recommendations. You can order a la carte or pre fixe menus- 3 ($65) or 4 ($75) course meals. We went with the 3 course- classic + entree + dessert. The 4 course includes "seasonal." Drinks: I believe we did the lemon drop and hibiscus raspberry mule Food: Pulpo & passion Lamb meatball Goat cheese ravioli Taste of Ribeye Pork shank birria Cheesecake s'mores Cinnamon toast cremoux Food I can never pass up on the menu- pulpo, ribeye, & cheesecake. I am staying on the property and I decided to try their breakfast (to-go) I got eggs with potato's and a biscuit and bacon, your typical breakfast go to. Along with that I got a pancake on the side. They were very busy since its peak summertime right now. The wait time was 25minutes which was not bad, the food looked amazing, so good that I forgot to take pictures, sorry. The service was amazing minus the mishap of utensils and sides but overall the food was great! They had a brunch going on with a dj and side cart going around with drinks which looked amazing! I had such a great experience at ARLO. Reservations are super easy to make on Open Table. Parking is super easy, they have a huge parking structure and will validate your parking ticket at the restaurant so be sure to bring with you. The restaurant is gorgeous, large and the tables are nicely spaced out so it feels really open inside. We went on a Saturday morning and there was a DJ playing music. What was really cool was that the volume was low enough that you could hear it, dance in your seat (lol), while still totally able to hear your conversations without raising your voice. I thought the DJ was a really nice touch. We absolutely loved our server, Andrew. He was so sweet, sincere, really attentive and just flat out excellent at his job. We tried many items and all were sooo good. The Croffle was excellent and super unique, the Almond Milk Chai Pudding with Açaí was so delicious and refreshing, the Soufflé Pancakes were delicious - fluffy and filling, and the Two Eggs Your Way was a staple...it came with a biscuit that was to die for too. We loved everything!! We were celebrating our birthdays and they gave us a cake pop to celebrate. We just loved the pace of the place, it didn't feel busy/loud/crowded like some brunch spots can get. We stayed at the hotel for three nights and decided to give ARLO a try since it was right on the property and had great ambiance with plenty of outdoor seating. If this review were based solely on our first visit, it would be 5 stars. We ordered the Pulpo y Frijoles and the Blueberry & Burrata salad--both were delicious, and the service was excellent. The patio is also dog-friendly, which was a big plus for us. Because our first experience was so good, we decided to return two days later on our check-out day to try one of their sweet dishes. We ordered the Japanese Milk Bread Cinnamon Roll and a cappuccino. After waiting more than 30 minutes, I finally asked another server about our order since we hadn't seen our server in quite a while. That server said they'd send the manager over, but before she arrived, our server finally came out with our dish. The manager (I believe her name was Megan or Morgan) came to check in, and we explained that we'd been waiting a long time and were in a bit of a rush. She apologized and mentioned the server should have warned us that the cinnamon roll takes a while to bake. We appreciated the acknowledgment, but when we finally started eating, the cinnamon roll was cold in the center and the dough was hard--definitely not something freshly baked or worth a 30-minute wait. At $16, it was an overpriced disappointment. Honestly, if you're craving a good cinnamon roll, skip this one and stick with Cinnabon. We expected at least a small gesture, like a discount or a genuine apology at checkout, but our server dropped off the bill without saying a word, and there was no adjustment made. Both of us have worked in the food service industry, so we understand that mistakes happen--but this was a missed opportunity for the manager to make things right. Because of that, what started as a 5-star impression unfortunately dropped to a 1-star experience, leaving us with a sour taste in our mouth. read more

We started at the Monkey Bar for Happy Hour, which was super fun, but it was what we did after that deserves this overdue review! Our party of 5 decided to move up to the restaurant, Arlo, for dessert - and we sure are glad we did! Hats off to our hostess, who sat us outside where we enjoyed the San Diego breezes, sunset and vibe. Just a stunner of a restaurant, to say the least. Our server was very kind and different servers made sure our water glasses were filled the entire time we were there. We ordered one of each dessert, and every single one got an A+ in our book. All 5 desserts were gone, with each one being fought over for the last bite. We had so much fun dining, laughing and enjoying our "staycation" at Arlo, we all decided to come back to do it again, each time promising to bring more friends so they can see what we're talking about. Was at SDCC and stayed at the Town & Country. I just didn't want to drive out one of the days during my stay, especially during SDCC weekend so we all gave this place a shot. It's a solid restaurant within the resort. Our server Anthony was attentive and very friendly. Everything we ordered tasted great. The best thing though was the mussels. We had order another round because it was that good. The shrimp for the shrimp cocktail is also fire. Especially with how large the shrimp was. Arlo is located inside The Society, adjacent to Fashion Valley mall. We had heard of this place from a couple online reviews and decided it was a candidate for checking out. With a reservation we were seated immediately. The indoor and outdoor spaces were incredibly spacious and modern looking. The coastal, relaxed vibe surrounded us with the adjacent buildings and bar. The menu is somewhat limited but interesting; cocktails came quickly and were excellent. When it came to food, however...I don't know. The food just felt as though it was missing a wow factor, or a set apart reason to rush here and try it. While beautiful displays and vibrant colors can accent a dish, ultimately the food has to speak for itself, and these dishes barely made a peep. Excellent new restaurant that is hiding in plain sight. That is, it's in the gigantic Town and Country Hotel complex in Mission Valley. There is a large, multistory parking structure and 2 hrs free parking ( need to validate ticket at restaurant). Very short and easy walk from garage to restaurant. Restaurant has nice indoor and outdoor dining options. Food is surprisingly on the "fine dining" side but prices are reasonable. Presentations and flavors are great. Service was friendly and attentive. General Manager ( John) was circulating and was very pleasant to speak with. This review is long overdue. Within the past year, dining at ARLO has easily been one of the top 3 places I've eaten at. To this day, I still have dreams of their world class Bolognese. The time we pulled up to Town and Country to the time we got seated wasn't long at all. With a parking garage in walking distance, the ability to make reservations, and the incredible team at ARLO, you'll be seated and taken care of in no time. The aesthetic is really something beautiful. A whole accent wall of tributes to SD is really fitting for such a trendy, upscale place such as this. Anyplace with a tribute to Anchorman is a place I will vouch for any day of the week! The food was absolutely mouthwatering. From the House Sourdough to the Bolognese to the steak, it was all incredible. Starting with the House Sourdough, they would take the gold in a "best bread and butter" competition. So fresh, soft on the inside, crispy - not crunchy outside. The herb butter and smoked sea salt side takes an already great bread to the next level. A must spend $7! The steak was cook exactly how asked, and was juicy and perfectly tender. The real reason we came was for the Bolognese... and it DELIVERED. I had seen a short video of when ARLO first opened and they featured their bolognese dish, and since then I knew I had to visit. The portion was very large, heaping over the top of the bread bowl. It's hard to describe just how flavorful and rich this dish is. From other reviews, it sounds like they are great for more than just dinner, brunch too! My girlfriend and I made reservations here after scoping out their Instagram page & the pictures did not do this place justice! It was very easy to find upon arrival as there are clear signs everywhere. The bar and decor is absolutely stunning. Every single dish and drink my friend and I had was impeccable . Lemon drop shots, prawns, Parmesan fries, steak, (cake & ice cream for my birthday dessert) Mac & cheese-every single dish was tasty. Our server as fantastic, she was great with checking in and making sure our drinks were always taken care of. The manager is also great and checked in with us periodically throughout our experience. There is a GORGEOUS patio with beautiful views of the pool and palm trees surrounding it. They've got a brunch that has been recommended to me a few times so I will be trying that out next! 5/5 stars, hands down such a wonderful experience read more

Went here for breakfast on Saturday to try it. There was a dj and music was very cool. The entire place is completely new with a modern vibe to it. The place was not crowded at all and no waiting. The waiter was super nice and attentive. I had the plain 2 egg breakfast with chicken apple sausage. The entire breakfast was very good. Best part was the biscuit it comes with. It's really big and I felt like they made the biscuit there (very fresh). Coffee was decent as well with refills. The parking was super easy and the hostess validated it which was very cool! I've been wanting to try this place for a bit. We went on a Tuesday night right when they opened and were seated right away. We stayed a few hours and the place had consistent traffic, but not crowded. A lot of convention/meeting goers it seemed. Service was prompt and friendly. We never had to wait too long and whenever we needed something, she seemed to show up. The place has a contemporary vibe, with an open-air feel. The acoustics are great for having conversations and being able to hear each other. Food was also incredible. Only minor complaints that can be easily fixed. The oysters were a bit tiny, but I think that's a seasonal thing. The only other complaint we had was our pasta was under-cooked, again an easy fix. The shrimp that came on the pasta were huge and the flavor was spot-on! I live close by, so I would definitely come back again! Wednesday seem to be a good day, half-off bottles of wine! read more

ARLO is such a cute brunch spot! They've recently renovated the area and it reminds me of brunch in Miami next to the pool and all the palm trees. My group decided to get together for brunch since it was DJ hosted and the music was pretty good! The drinks were strong and the food was ok. I came here for Saturday brunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. With the rainy weather, it was not as busy as I expected. I thought the ambiance of the restaurant was nice and appreciated the music from the live Dj. However, foodwise, I was underwhelmed by the brunch menu. I ordered steak and eggs with a latte while my friend had a salad with salmon. Taste and presentation were okay, and I would say the prices are fair. The service was also mediocre as we kept having to call the waitresses' attention for drink refills and request the desert menu ourselves. I also thought they might offer something special for the bday celebrant since it was noted in my reservation but they did not sadly. Overall, I did not feel that there was attention to detail in the food and service. But the views of the hotel were beautiful and parking was a breeze. read more

Came here with my sisters and cousins for Sunday brunch. This place is a really nice spot located inside town and country hotel. Parking is free with validation so make sure you bring your parking ticket cause you'll be parking inside the garage. Honestly what made us pick this spot is that it said DJs would be playing some 90s-2000 throwback music. Immediately we were drawn to that and made a reservation online. We got there, the DJ was on the other side, music was whatever but oh well. We all ordered drinks, and service was pretty slow. We ordered food, that took a little bit too. 3 out of 5 of us got the arlo benedict. Flavor was okay, not much flavor in their pork belly and their hollandaise was thick. The restaurant has thoughtful San Diego themed decor and beautiful furniture with comfy seats. This restaurant is located inside of the old Town & Country hotel which was recently renovated. We've come to the mOnkey Bar in past and liked the vibe. This time we met friends for dinner and hit up their restaurant bar and prix fixe menu. The cocktail I ordered is my goto Amaretto sour but instead of making it on the rocks , the bartender Tom? made it "on the top" served in a small circle shaped martini glass. (Egg white included). It was delicious! Prix fix menu allowed us to try a little bit of everything including the desserts. Btw-if it wasn't for yelp, I wouldn't have noticed there was an offer for a free dessert here. My husband and I loved Arlo. We came during restaurant week where we got three course meal. The restaurant is stylish and swanky. There's a fun outdoorsy area with tables that would be fun if you had kids bc they can run around while you eat. Our waiter was extremely weird. He didn't offer us any tap water but just offered us sparkling or stilled water. We saw the table next to us get tap water so we asked for tap water after that. It felt like he was trying to pad our bill. My favorite part was the smoked s'mores. It was beautifully presented under smoke. We had to pay for parking in the nearby parking garage. read more

When I travel I prefer to sample from local eateries. My wife and I were in San Diego, and decided to eat at the restaurant at our hotel. Arlo has a subdued, but upscale feel. The window looking out on the hotel grounds is wonderful. We decided to share a plate. We settled on the Bison accompanied by black garlic mashed potatoes, and a fresh fig. I believe that, (generally speaking) the serving size is smaller in California, than in Texas. Once I got over the 1/4 cup of potatoes, (in a tiny cup just above the main plate in the picture) I began to eat. The potatoes were very good. The Bison was awesome! On the outside; there was a slight char. On the inside of the cut; the meat was soft, and rich with flavor. The steak stood on its own, but was made even better by the sauce. The fresh, sweet fig was the counterpoint to the rich, savory tastes of the rest of the plate. read more

Since there was a group of 5 of us, we decided to order three 4 course pre fixe menus and two additional entrees, so we can share appetizers and dessert. This gave us the opportunity to try a little bit of everything! For our visit, we shared Snow Crab & Squash, Wood Fired Oysters, Pulpo & Passion, Lamb Meatball for appetizers. The standout were the lamb meatballs, which were juicy, not gamey, and leaned towards a Japanese curry flavor profile. For my entree, I ordered California Lamb Rack with Smoked Potato Purée, Gruyère Panna Cotta, Purple Cabbage, and Swiss Chard. The lamb was cooked to a perfect temperature, and the smoked potato purée was creamy. I tried the scallop on my boyfriend's plate, and while it was well cooked, it was overly seasoned and salty. What a great hidden gem! Tucked in hotel circle, this restaurant was such a treat with great ambiance, fantastic service and the food was amazing! Listen, we all know how expensive eating at a good spot can be and Arlo offers a 3 course meal for $65!! There's also an option for 4 dishes at a fixed price. The pulpo and tartar were mind blowing, definitely recommend trying them. The duck and steak were perfectly cooked and so flavorful, I want to go back and try the rest of the mains. And the dulce de leche creme brulee was also super delicious. A wonderful experience and so refreshing not having a good meal in a loud and overcrowded restaurant. Ate here while visiting SD for a few days. I was very happy with the meal. I did not know about the resort area at all. So I was pleasantly surprised by the entire facility itself and the restaurant location within the resort was really nice. The restaurant validated for parking in the garage which was good. The place is really spacious with nice open seating area with good separation between tables. The service was good. We had Patrick who was a knowledgeable server and pleasantly talkative. We tried drinks (well I did) appetizers, entrees and a dessert. I had the spicy margarita. Regular spicy then asked for a slightly spicier one. Both good no complaints. We ordered the beet salad. Wood fired oysters and the raviolis for apps. All good but the wood fired oysters were the star. Highly recommend. The beets were great and made the apps feel healthier. I got the pork shank barria for my main. The other mains were the tuna and the steak. Everyone really enjoyed their dishes but I loved the barria. It was so tender and flavorful. I honestly can still drum up the flavor profile in my mouth Now. It came with a fluffy polenta that honestly i didn't understand. There was no substance to the polenta. That was definitely disappointing as I am a polenta fan. Next time I would sub out for mashed potatoes. For dessert we got the smoked crème brûlée. Which was good and the smoke presentation made the dish. But it wasn't a great crème brûlée. But I'm not complaining about it at all. Four stars because it's a small menu but it's definitely offering something for all flavor profiles. Would definitely recommend if you need a solid meal. The space is very large and aesthetically pleasing with a trendy California coastal vibe. There is indoor, outdoor and bar seating. Great selection of wine, beer and cocktails and the food is all very tasty and creative. We took advantage of the Wednesday half off bottles special with a bottle of Pessimist and paired it with the pulpo and passion, which was very good and a unique take on octopus.
