Every time I eat here I am disappointed. One time i ordered The French toast to go and it didn't come with any butter or powdered sugar and it even has an after taste of another item cooked on the grill/griddle. Today the pancakes were just dry. As you cut them they crumbled. Not moist at all. Over priced and underwhelmed. Restaurant staff were polite but unorganized. This place needs to buy more table condiments. A server took a bottle of hot sauce from my table to give it to another table before we were done with it. She was nice and polite in asking but the gesture was rude. We also sat next to an "office" table. They should have cleared it to make room for other patrons. This make shift corner office table looked unorganized and unprofessional. Patrons don't need to see all your back end administrative papers. If they read this review, my hope is they will continue to improve and make adjustments. The front desk waitress was so snarky and rude I couldn't believe it. As I've never been there before I asked for her opinion on the side options and recommendations. Eggs were rubbery and the potatoes overcooked. Frozen sausage links and generic juice. Was never asked how my food was, if I wanted anything else or if I was ready for my check, which came before I could even taste the food. And had the nerve to be pricey. Really? This establishment is typical of family-owned ventures where the principals have no experience in the food service industry. I arrived at 105 pm with my guest. The hostess/waitress greeted us but was not taking names, choosing instead to remember the order of the 5 groups waiting to be seated. We were seated at 125 pm. After 5 minutes another waitress took our drink order. Five minutes later she returned with a hot chocolate and a coffee, both of which were slightly warmer than room temperature. She took our food order (chicken and waffles and an omelet and potatoes) after another 10 minutes. Then we sat. And sat. And sat some more. At no point did any of the wait staff or the manager ask if we wanted any water, or any refills, we just sat. And the reason we sat became obvious to me as I watched the food being delivered to other tables--the place is tiny so i could see everything-these guys were making the meals one at a time. After 35 minutes of sitting I struck up a conversation with someone seated at the next table. He, too, was looking at the bottom of an empty coffee cup, and we both bemoaned the service. Eventually, a waitress noticed my scowl and said our food was coming. I told her if it wasn't coming don't bother as we had already been sitting 45 minutes. She explained, without apologizing, that the kitchen was really small. Five more minutes and the food came. The portions were small. It wasn't terrible but it was a step below Waffle House, frankly, and was twice as expensive, a deadly combination given the wait. The omelet wasn't very good, and the potatoes were overcooked. My son's waffles were decent, but it was obvious to me that the chicken was precooked and then reheated--think Banquet Fried Chicken. I had to ask for water and a refill for my coffee. The bill was $26.32. I gave $40 to the waitress. She returned with $13, apparently believing it was OK to round down at the customer's expense and keep my change. I regularly tip at 21-25%, but in this case I was tempted to leave nothing. Bowing to habit, I left her $5, plus the 68 cents she decided to keep. It was at least $2 too much. I spent over an hour at Arize, leaving at 215 pm. It took less than 5 minutes to eat. Southwest Atlanta has virtually zero breakfast options, and I look to support black-owned businesses, but this place should be avoided until it works out the problems. The portion size was definitely hefty and the price was reasonable! They were out of strawberry sauce so I didn't get to try out the famous waffle. The wait was average. The manager and staff were extremely attentive and checked on everyone often to give updates on tables and orders. The atmosphere is cozy and casual. Jazz music was playing in the background and the dine-in crowd appeared to all be enjoying themselves. This would be ideal for small groups (maybe under 6), couples, and families. I was really excited about a brunch spot in the Camp Creek area. My overall visit was just ok. We were greeted upon entering and everyone was friendly. Our waitress was extremely forgetful. We had to ask for jelly and syrup twice (for each). I actually got up and walked to the stand in the back to get my own syrup. She placed the wrong order for my girlfriend. My strawberry waffle with vanilla cognac sauce was just ok - the waffle itself lacking in flavor. I also ordered a side biscuit with gravy which was a little salty and just ok. My family and I stopped by after church and we were all pleasantly surprised. It's a cozy family owned restaurant and almost every table was occupied. They rearranged some furniture for us and accommodated our party of 6. Breakfast choices were excellent, we sampled the waffles, Cajun shrimp and Grits and the kids French toast. Orders,are taken electronically and sent straight to the kitchen. Food was out in 15 minutes. My children were very hungry so the waitress was accommodating and took their order first so that they could get their food in a short amount of time. Their pancakes, fruit, and turkey bacon came out in a matter of minutes. The presentation was good and portion plentiful for kids. They cleaned their plates! I ordered the "Veg Out" egg white omelette with grits and pancakes. My omelette was was tasty and plentiful. The grits are unique with a creamy sweetness to them. The pancakes were yummy and came with a cinnamon butter. And as a bonus, the owner Doug, is a "baby whisperer." My kiddo started crying in the middle of us eating our meals.
