I cannot recommend Arid Valley Plumbing, especially when working through a home warranty. They demanded $550 "modification fees" for my water heater, even though my existing plumbing and electrical connections were fully functional. The technician pressured me to give my credit card information, while my broken water heater was still dangerously humming with the power not turned off yet...since I had no clue which breaker it was. My house was also disconnected from the water...yet, without my credit card information on file and permission to use it, the technician could not and was not willing to proceed. Additionally, Arid Valley Plumbing never provided me with a detailed written explanation of the so-called mandatory modification charges, and later that day, when I asked my neighbor, who is a plumber, to take a look, I was confirmed that no modifications are needed. After reading review after review online, I learned that I am not the only one and that this was common practice between Arid Valley Plumbing and the Home Warranty. I decided to ask for a cash-out, and even for that, I needed to make a couple of phone calls. Do not recommend this company. They were assigned to us via our Home Warranty company. Although Angela was prompt with her initial call to me to get scheduled and understand the issue, the tech was flakey. He unfortunately came to the house, took off some drywall, claimed he needed to run back to North Phoenix (we are in far east valley) to get a Pex gun (why he didn't already have that is beyond me) and said he would be back that same day to complete the job. 5:30 rolled around and he never showed. Tried calling and it went to VM as they were closed. I called the next day around 9:30am and Angela stated that our tech was in a meeting and she wasn't sure what was going on. They gave us the run around a few times, even my husband called and it was just weird zero explanation as to where this guy was or what happened. Finally around 2pm that same day, I called our Home Warranty company and they were confused because per AV Plumbings notes, they had an appointment that morning between 8a-9a to come and complete the job- though no one ever showed up. They refused assigning a new tech/company to the job so I threatened to leave. Within an hour, it was reassigned to Summit Plumbing and he was in and out within 45 minutes and completed. I received my detailed quote from Arid Valley for new plumbing lines for a kitchen remodel. Two dedicate hot water lines were clearly stated in the quote, one for the island sink, and one for the dishwasher. The plumber worked until approximately 8:30 that night to complete this portion of the job. Unfortunately, he only ran one hot water line, and when this was discovered the next day, I contacted Arid Valley requesting an adjustment to the bill, as I had paid for the two lines, and it was not done. I was told by Jessica that she would let whoever handles the billing know, and to reach out to me. I have attempted contacting the company several times, via text, email, and phone calls, with no response to the issue. Unfortunately the plumber had to leave site a couple of times to get materials that he needed, and he did work until 8:30 that evening, however he overlooked the second hot water line. Sadly, the need to stand over and confirm every step of the job should have been done, and I failed to do my part. A simple adjustment to the bill should have taken mere minutes to correct, or even an email reply would have sufficed. I can not in good conscience recommend this business. read more

I do not recommend this company especially if they were assigned by a home warranty company. They will upcharge $450 extra under the guise of "Modification Fee" even if there is no modification. The installer flat-out admitted that, AV had to do that because the warranty company pays the labor based on "flat-rate" and therefore AV does not make as much money when there is a home warranty company involved. I had to contact my home warranty company to have the issue reviewed and examined. The home warranty company agreed with me and compelled AV Plumbing to refund the $450. In conclusion, there should not have been $450 additional for the so called Modification Fee, and the fact that the warranty company had to be involved and force AV for a refund was unconscionable. read more

Not happy. Think twice before being assigned AVP as a contractor through a warranty company. After going back and forth we were without hot water for 1 month. Waiting on various approvals. The wrong water heater was ordered (by warranty company) and then I was charged an extra trip fee of $250 by AVP just to drive to my house. AVP charged me $500 for "modifications" and $350 for floor coverings (when I complained they knocked it down to $200) for a piece of cardboard and sheet of plastic. I know plumbers be pricey but come on, this was a water heater install. My total out of pocket was $975 with a warranty. I will use someone else in the future. Complete scam on work and pricing. Same situation as other complaints on yelp charging for modifications that are unnecessary and basic process of an install, also using my old original parts and charging for new. Check out the photo of the exhaust vent, all the original venting parts except for that small piece of aluminum at the top that cost me $200, seems reasonable... right?!? This COMPANY SCAMS PEOPLE!!! We had our Water Heater go out while on Vacation. Came home to a Flood. Called our Home Warranty Co, First American Home Warranty at 7:30am, and submitted a claim. Arid Valley Plumbing was the Contractor. We paid the $85 dollars and were told that they would arrive at 4:30pm for this Emergency. I asked if they had a New Water Heater on their Truck, as mine was BAD and leaking from every hole. I was told NO we dont have any Water Heaters. We are just there to Diagnose the problem on the 1st day. It was obvious the Water Heater needed to be replaced. I called First American and asked if they knew about the Diagnoses. They told me that the Plumber would come Diagnose the Problem, and if the Water Heater needed to be replaced, they would then need to Order 1 which would take 4 to 5 days. They said Arid would then Return to Install the new Water Heater. I said this is ridiculous, and told them I would Purchase a Water Heater Myself, and have it WAITING for the Plumber, so that when he sees that mine needs to be replaced, he can do it now rather than wait 5 days. Now I understand that First American probably gets Water Heaters at a Discount, and am willing to EAT the difference in Cost for the Unit. I explained this to First American and Arid. I was told by 1st American that if the unit ONLY needs to be Repaired, that they will NOT reimburse me for my other Water Heater, which is Obviously a Given. They said they needed a work order from the Plumber showing that the Unit was Bad. FINE i say. I call and let ARID PLUMBING know that I have worked out the details with 1st American with regards to the Water Heater, and asked if the Plumber coming to my Home has the Tools to do a Install if need be. They said YES. Plumber gets here, sees that my Unit is BAD, and says it needs to be Reolaced. HOLY HELL, I have a Brand New Unit waiting in my Garage that I went and purchased while waiting. The Plumber said that I will have to PAY THE COMPANY, and then I would get Reimbursed by 1st American. He then quoted me $1300 dollars to Install the UNIT!!! The ONLY REASON he quoted so high, was because he came into a Gated Community with Nice Homes! I told him I dont have $1300 dollars and he then said he would take $1000 dollars for the Install which would be reimbursed by 1st American. He NEVER SAID that if I have him install this Unit, I WOULD NOT BE REIMBURSED! So, what happens, I call 1st American to get my Money Back, and they said I SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN CHARGED BY ARID!!! I called Arid to let them know, and they said I am NOW CONSIDERED A PRIVATE CUSTOMER because I purchased the WATER HEATER MYSELF. Mind you, it was the EXACT SAME ONE that was already in there that was supposedly covered under the Home Warranty! The lower Manager named SEAN tried calling me and telling me I would have had to Pay $450 for new lines when they did the Install anyway. I said fine, keep the $450 and refund me my $550 overage. He then said HIS MANAGER SAID NO, and that I am considered a Private Party Client Now! I will be taking this to Court, so I will definitely keep you posted. I am in the Real Estate Industry, and deal with Multiple Home Warranty Companies on a Daily Basis, and this one by Far is the BIGGEST SCAM!!! I never write reviews, and it looks like they've protected their Google reviews rather well, but the truth is over here on Yelp reviews. We're on our 4th week without our water heater, with 3 babies at home because of this company's ineptitude. Here is the timeline - all of these calls are recorded and I will update here with a link for anyone interested once I've uploaded the audio files: 11/20 - Uncovered costs from AV Plumbing accepted through their customer portal at 11:08am, email confirmation received 11/29 - called dispatcher Angela for an update, discovered nothing has been done, and she said I had to have approval from the warranty company, American Home Shield (AHS) 12/6 - called dispatcher Maddy at 3:06pm for an update, once again discovered that nothing has been done, no part ordered. Asked Maddy to have Chris Foster (a supervisor I had spoken with before agreeing to the uncovered costs) call me. Called the warranty company and was told that AV Plumbing had just submitted authorization at 3:51pm, that there was no communication between 11/29-12/6, and that they were waiting for a call from AV Plumbing. Confirmed with the warranty company that AV Plumbing was the one to drop the ball. 12/6 - called dispatcher Anna, asked to have Chris Foster call me 12/7 - called dispatcher Linda, asked to have Chris Foster call me 12/9 - called dispatcher Maddy, she said Chris Foster left a message to the office that "he just has to call the warranty company," but requested once again a callback from Chris Foster, 1:37pm 12/9 - called dispatcher Brianna, asked to have Chris Foster call me, 7:13pm 12/10 - still no callback from Chris Foster so I called again at and got dispatcher Maddy and asked to have Chris Foster call me, 11:07am, the call escalated and Maddy hung up on me 12/10 - called back into the office at 11:20am and got dispatcher Angela, who helped to try and get a hold of Chris 12/10 - at 11:43am, Chris calls me - we establish the timeline on their end, compared notes, ultimately ending in Chris will get a handle on the situation and call me back 12/10 - 12:41pm, Chris calls me explaining more of the timeline on their end and will call me back with a solution 12/10 - 1:39pm, Chris has a solution to pull from another future job and can get the water heater installed today Update: technician Jesse was great, water is installed TLDR: I'm sure a good amount of the people working here are great people, but because of a select few, this experience with this company is in the Top 10 worst interactions of any service company I have ever had. Chris, who I had tried to reach repeatedly but avoided calling me back ultimately saved the day. Problem could have been addressed much much earlier had he just called me back. He would have been apprised of what was happening and would have stepped in. After a month without a water heater (which is normally a one week process) you would think the company would come through with a discount or something to make up for it or to build back goodwill, but no, Chris said their "hands are tied." Their is a massive problem in their dispatch department and their systems. Dispatcher Maddy has one of the worst demeanors and attitudes and has no business answering phones. My advice is: there are so many options as far as plumbing companies go, save yourself the grief and choose them. If your warrant company chooses the company for you and you see AV Plumbing pop up, refuse it and get them to switch the contractor, you'll thank yourself later. read more

This company is responsible for my household being without hot water from 3/16/2023 to 4/14/2023. I went through First American home warranty who unfortunately set us up with AV plumbing. They came out 3 days after my first call, tore out my hot water heater and said they'd order a new one. Chris said it would be AT MOST 7 days. I repaired some sheet rock, painted and 3 days later gave them a call to see what the status was. It had yet to be ordered. So they had it ordered, and a week later I'd still not heard anything so i called again. They claimed the warranty company scheduled the tank to be delivered to a supplier and the contractor(AV) was to pick it up from the supply house, which AV absolutely refused to do for some reason. So, the tank got shipped back to First American, and they sent a new one to AV's facility. I called the next Monday to the warranty service, and they told me their tracking information said it had been delivered to AV. I called AV and they said "their parts guy wasn't in" and that continued until Friday they finally "found it" in the back and got me scheduled for Easter Sunday. Hector installed it Easter morning, and he over tightened the gas fitting and cracked it. He said he'd order the part with one day shipping. I called Wednesday since they apparently can't communicate with customers, and they told me it was actually coming to my house and would be there Friday. It arrived Thursday morning, and I made an appointment to get it done that night. I got a call at 5 telling me they had to cancel and reschedule for the next morning. Our line to the sewer got clogged. "Things" were backing up into the tub. Flush the toilet and it all got worse. Called our Home Warranty company . They assigned someone but only had an answering machine which didn't answer ! And they couldn't be out for 2 days ! Called the Warranty company back and they assigned Arid Valley Plumbing. Chris was here in just a few hours . He cleared the sewer and the Warranty Company had him do a complimentary camera video into the sewer. I had an emergency situation late at night and required next day attention. Chris (the agent) contacted me within an hour of my call. He gave me a next morning time and was there to change out water valves on washer/dryer that were corroded. He was professional, articulate and I found him to be a perfectionist. He said the difference with his company and another is that they believe in perfection and quality on their jobs. I may have paid a little more, however I know it is a job I will not ever have to revisit again. Candidly, this review should be zero stars. I am highly offended by the actions taken by this company and its representatives. I own a rental building in Scottsdale. Dan Prinzen inspected a drain pipe, behind a kitchen sink, and attempted to create a large homeowner's insurance claim for a minor issue. A crack was clearly visible and above a plumbing junction. Instead of completing a basic repair, Mr. Prinzen manipulated the situation and spoke (in a loud voice hoping to disturb my tenant) that the crack was "definitely in the building's foundation causing substantial damage." He "recommended" restoration companies that would charge thousands of dollars to my homeowner's insurance and told me that he would "help me collect the most from my insurance company." This company works with home warranty companies and attempted to take advantage of a situation. Turning a repair that should cost a couple of hundred dollars into a tens of thousands of dollars homeowners' claim is incredibly unprofessional. I was forced to use this company by my home warranty and will never use them again. Mr. Prinzen attempted to tell me what my home warranty would cover and what it would not cover. He must have never read coverage policies because pipe leaks are clearly covered (as well as unobstructed access through walls). He then told me that my home warranty company was "incredibly difficult" to deal with, as was my homeowners' insurance company and that he should lead any and all conversations with them. Regretfully for Mr. Prinzen, I handle insurance claims regularly and knew the game he was playing. Had I not had experience in this field, and a reliable plumber that gave me a second opinion, I may have been manipulated into this company's scheme to baselessly increase the cost/scope of repairs. Initially, I was told that this repair would be completed same-day. Once I informed Mr. Prinzen that I did not want an unnecessary re-pipe, his demeanor completely changed (like an individual selling timeshares and is told no). He then told me my tenant would have to wait several days (even though his company had already cut into the walls of the apartment in question). Thankfully, I obtained an opinion from an independent plumbing company that verified the leak was not in the building's foundation and that the repair needed was minor in nature. This situation was analogous to the stereotypical mechanic that attempts to take advantage of customers. I cannot speak to the normal practices of this business; however, my experience was negative, unprofessional, and manipulative. My mom is elderly and physically disabled and appreciated that Chris arrived within an hour of the call which was thought to be a hot water heater leak but turned out to be a burst in the main water line. I was referred to Arid Valley Mechanical by my brother in law. I have been very satisfied with them as I have now used their services twice. They have repaired both AC units in my commercial warehouse. Patrick gave me a very fair price. He also was quick to respond to my inquiries and actually came to service our units the same day I called which was clutch because I have to have good, cool work conditions for my employees. Hot Water heater went out on December 15th and had the home warrantee people send out Arid Valley Plumbing 4 days later. The plumber walked up before I even opened the garage door and told me our pressure was too high and the water heater was damaged due to the fact we did not have a pressure relief valve. This house is 24 years old and he saw no valve and smelled blood in the water. He told me they would charge $1,600 to install the new water heater (that was under manufacturer's warrantee) and a PRV. He also refused to show me the actual pressure of my house. So I think think Arid Valley Plumbing and First American Home Warrantee are in on the scam together. They said if I did not do it on that day then he could not come back until Dec 29th. I had a house full of guest and my 92 year old Father with no hot water. I had to go pick up the new water heater and Hire Lions Den Plumbing (The best by far) to come out the next day and then I paid them $745 to install the heater and the PRV. So it cost me less than half of what Arid wanted and they came out the next day. Bottom line is Arid Valley Plumbers are frauds!! Do NOT use they because they will screw you! read more

Typical warranty work with Oneguard, cover the item, but not pipes they claim had to be replaced, that mine were less than 4 years old, in PERFECT SHAPE. Warranty work techs oneguard sends out ALWAYS find extra uncovered work, this cost me $609 for warranty work on a suppose covered water heater, that was replaced under the 6 year manufacturer warranty that I had to pay AV plumbing $159 for an exchange fee, plus $225 for each 16 inch pipe that was less than $100 in parts, including a valve that actually works worst than the one that was already installed in perfect working condition, do not use these scammers for your home warranty as they will always find uncovered out of pocket costs and that the latest scam that involves home warranty and techs they send out. would not ever recommend. Took exactly 1 week without a water heater, that they took out that was actually working but just slightly leaking, before they finally brought a new one back. read more
