In mid-November 2019 I unexpectedly (as it always happens) had some bad flooding/wet carpet going on in/around the utility closet in my home (where my stackable washer/dryer and water heater sit). Since I have a home warranty and there was what they consider significant flooding, I was put to the top of the emergency list for Alan's to come inspect the issue. Since it's been awhile, I can't recall my plumber's name but he was certainly a huge help in what started as a few months of stress. He gave me the 30minutes heads up as I needed to drive home. Basically within a few minutes of inspection he told me my tank had burst and he'd need to replace it. Totally makes sense as it was about 13 years old. Having a home warranty meant all I was out was for some pipes (~$120) and the service call. He's been thru this situation many a-times so while I was calling my home insurance company to set up the claim & get someone to come give a quote on repair work, he made a call to a friend's company to also give me a quote so I'd have more than one option. I had a slab leak in my main bathroom. I called my home warranty and was sent Alan's Plumbing. After the initial diagnosis call (if you have a home warranty, you know what I'm talking about), they sent out a supervisor named Manuel and his assistant Derick. Manuel found the leak and recommended a re-route of the plumbing to save time and money. I appreciated his expertise. He had to come back another day to do the work, and it took 5 hours. Manuel was phenomenal! He told me up front that he doesn't repair drywall but gave me a recommendation to get that done. Most importantly, the hot water is back on, and the slab leak is irrelevant. I used Alan's Plumbing through my home warranty company. The plumber, Steve, came on time, and let me know when he was coming. He was very polite and friendly, and fixed the kitchen leaks promptly. One leak was in the ice maker tubing, and he said it was really an appliance issue, and not plumbing. He was still able to cut out and fix the tubing leak. I really appreciated that as I didn't have to make another call to the warranty company and spend money for another house call. I would use this company again. read more

Plumber came out on behalf of my warranty company. I called about guest bathroom shower. First he said the handle isn't broken at all and one of the parts being completely loose and unattached was "aesthetic" so there is no coverage. When I showed him the handle comes right off he accused me of breaking it in front of him and that he saw me mishandle it. Then he said there was no coverage because the fixture isn't original (it doesnt have to be original for coverage to apply). Then he said the wrong joint was used for the shower head so that wasn't covered and for the same reason that it also wasn't original. The house is over 20 years old why would it be original?! Most items included in warranties are not! Then he said well only shower head is included in his order and not the handle so I have to submit a different work order and pay again. No, I called about the guest shower and the guest shower needs to be fixed. He was getting upset because I countered each of his claims that it wasn't covered based on the my contract in hand. The plumber was very aggressive when I countered back until i told him be needed to stop shouting at me in my home. He lingered in my garage on the phone for another 20 minutes before I told him he needs to leave my premises I'm very uncomfortable with his conduct. read more

I can't thank Alan's Plumbing enough! We were originally paired with them by our home warranty company to correct stoppage in a guest bathroom. They completed the work timely and efficiently but also found a leaking pipe. Turns out the pipe cracked down through the foundation on our old home. I didn't know it at the time but when I called back a day later to report that it now had a big leak the only anwser I could get was "just call the warranty company again". Called my home warranty after discovering a leak under my kitchen sink. Mary called me within 1-2 hours to schedule an appointment she was kind and professional. She asked me if it was ok to called when the tech was on his way. (This is always welcome) The next day during our scheduled time frame Mary called me and 20mins later Tony appeared. Tony was professional on time and he found the issue and got right to work on change out the disposal. Everything is working great! I had a poor experience and maybe it was an off day. Problem: Sticky toilet valve and leaky base. When the tech arrived I showed him the valve and I was told 'We don't stock those parts, will have to be special order'. Ok, I thought, I can do that myself but its a really common Home Depot Kohler toilet...? Moving on. Then we started talking about the leaky base and 1st thing, the tech tells me "As a company policy" they don't do the solicone base after resetting the toilet. Really? Ok, but everyone else caulks around the bottom of the toilet after they reset. But fine again so we move on. Remove toilet and he "discovers" the base flange is corroded and nothing can be done (I already knew this and tried to explain over the phone when I made the appointment). He said there was nothing he could do except cut the concrete and replace the pipe for $1K. Really? He said everything had to be to "Code". Toilet code? So he left, I had to pay $100 bucks and got zero service except a removed toilet. I went to Home Depot and bought the gasket for $4.89, Ring for $12, the flange repair sleeve for $26 and a tube of sealant for $4.00 and fixed it myself in 20 minutes. read more

Threw out a tweet asking for a good plumber, got a buddy that mentioned he had used Alan's before. I called him on a friday afternoon and he asked when I'd like the new hose bibb installed... I said now if you got time.. jokingly... and he said hold on I'll call you back in 5min. 4 min later he calls and says I got a guy (Mike) that will by in 30min after he finishes a job by your house, does that work for you? Heck yes! So Mike calls to verify location, shows up, super nice dude. We talked the whole time he did the work about random stuff and he had the thing done in a jip and put a nice new on on with a thread so I can remove it in the future unlike the crappy old leaky one that was sweated on. So on a friday evening at 4:45pm they got a guy out to me quick and had the job done within about an hour and a half of my first ever calling them. That's a win in my book folks. If you value your home and time don't use this company. Do not let your home warranty tell you they have no other vendors. Two weeks ago I called my home warranty about a link between the first and second floor of my home. Within an hour I received a scheduling call from Alan's to come out the next day. So far so good, right? The tech shows up, say its the toilet washer ring not the shower like a thought. Ok fine, I'm not a plummer what do I know. Works done, I pay my co pay for the service and we all go on our marry way. Fast forward two weeks, the 'toilet' leak is now a big water bubble in my kitchen and a big mess. I call my home warranty and they send the same company. They call right away to schedule the visit the next day. So far so good. They say they will be at my home between noon and 5 pm. After my husband wastes his whole day waiting for the plummer to show. They call at 5 pm to tell me that the plummer is finally on his way (finally). I get home at 5:45 pm and they plummer is just getting to my home. irritated at this point but not his fault.... until I find out that this is the same plummer that came out two weeks earlier and didn't to the job right the first time. He tells me its another call, he can't fix it tonight and it will be another $75 copay. I ask him to explain what is wrong and his response is: "Your warranty authed the work then took it back and i'm late for my next call" I ask for his name since he has now gone from being unprofessional to down right rude. I ask for his last name and he refuses to give it to me. At this point I getting pretty ticked off so I ask he was the person who came out the first time and he says yes. So I ask him to help me understand how the same leak is now a whole new problem because he missed it the first time? it deteriorated from their ending with get out of my house. My next call is to my home warranty, turns out he bold faced lied, they did issue the auth to fix the leak but did not reverse it. After explaining what happened I was for another vendor to do the repair. I may still have to use them but I was clear that I would rather pay my $75 copay again to another vendor than allow Alan's plumming into my home ever again! If you have read this far head the warning don't allow this company into your home!!!! read more

We had two or three plumbers come to our home who couldn't (or wouldn't) do what was a very tricky and complicated fix (we own an historic English Tudor; the access to the issue was nearly impossible). I am an Elite Yelper and more than fair in my reviews. (Only apparently if you piss Yelp off they go ahead and take your 2015 Elite badge without saying anything...) Aside from Daniel, this company is truly 1 star. I am 9 months pregnant. Our water heater went out on Sunday. My home warranty company dispatched it to Alan's Plumbing (THEIR bad choice) so I did not get a call until Tuesday as it was a holiday weekend. They could not even come LOOK at it until Thursday (today). Fine. I told them I was going to call my home warranty company and ask them to send someone sooner. They didn't ask me for any info and said they'd leave my appt for Thursday unless they heard otherwise. My stupid home warranty company said too-bad, so sad, you're using them. YESTERDAY (Wednesday) while I was at work I got a VERY RUDE voice mail from their office girl telling me I didn't give them all my water heater info. Well, I was never asked for it. The voice mail said to call after hours and leave a message if necessary. Since I am a grown ass adult, I have a day job, so I called last night and left the info on the machine. IN THAT MESSAGE I also said that I wasn't sure if I was using their part or my own part to replace the heater but they could go ahead and send it. I also had a conversation with their office boy (not the girl) and said I would be calling back that night with the info, that they had never requested before - and he admitted they had not requested previously. So, Daniel shows up. He's polite, informative, etc. He says the thing is toast and that he will have to replace it. He calls and gets authorization to replace it and warns me about a $130 modification that probably isn't covered, yada yada. However, HE DOES NOT HAVE THE PART. They told him not to bring it. So, he calls to see when he can come back with it. TUESDAY if I want to be scheduled, MONDAY if I want to be squeezed in. Um, no. Again, I am 9 months pregnant, I haven't had hot water since SUNDAY, and I need a hot water heater NOW. Also, you were supposed to send the part and DIDN'T. Your problem, not mine. However, it has become mine. I sent the guy away without the fee - because I am not waiting until Tuesday. You come tomorrow? Fine. You don't... I light you up on Yelp, fire my home warranty company, and buy a stupid $450 water heater myself. (This was actually not an attempt to get the company to do anything. It was simply stating that they suck. I had a new water heater installed by a family member who knows how to do such things by 10 pm - same day.) read more

This company came to my house to fix my sink and water heater today. The water heater's heating element breaker was going out so the tech replaced it. I flipped the outside breaker off for him as a courtesy at the panel and let him know I did so. After the installation, he told me his voltage reader was not getting a reading and that my breaker was broken. This seemed odd to me as this was never the problem but rather the issue stemmed from the heater itself. He then proceeded to attempt to snake out my sink which was backed up. He could not clear the clog, which to his credit, is probably further down the line. Even though he had snaking equipment on him, he would not attempt to clear the line from either the laundry or on the roof vent line or on my dump line outside. So, five hours and $65 later both the water heater and the sink are the same as they were before Alan S Plumbing showed up. I adjusted my work schedule in hope that I could get things fixed and get dinner going for my gal who is 11 months pregnant who was also returning from work. Here's the kicker - after Alan Plumbing left i went to the breaker on my circuit box - it was off! He'd never bothered to trip the breaker. So I did. Now at least we'll have hot water tonight, but snaking the line caused my laundry line to overflow, so I've got a real mess on my hands now. There's something about the quality of service you get from a company that works exclusively with Home Warranty companies whose job is to take your money and refuse as many services as possible ("We don't do electricity.." "I'm not authorized to..."). I've noticed a lot of people on Yelp reviews getting screwed by both Alan S and Fidelity Home Warranty Company so I'm going to be sure and reach out to my realtor and let her know about my experience. UPDATE: We hired another company to clean up after Alan S's snaking SNAFU today. They fixed the problem in about 5 min. The heating element breaker i mentioned is now not working again, so I basically have the same problem as before I called Alan S. DO NOT USE THIS PLUMBER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. read more

A good plumber is hard to find........ Had a leak in the Master bath and got this plumbing company to come to my home through my home warranty. I think Alan himself showed up, at least that's what the technician's name was on the invoice. It was a fast and friendly service. Guy even gave me some advice on a bathroom remodel we are thinking about. He did however need to come over 2 times to get the leak fixed, but he did come the same day. 2nd time was a charm, leak was fixed and all is good. If I could give 4.5 stars I would. DON'T USE THEM... Here for 10 minutes, turned a valve and left. That valve started to leak, flooding the adjacent room, but no one noticed until it has been leaking for about 4 hours, since it was in the garage. Did i get a sorry when i called again, opps we screwed up, NO, nothing. The second guy came later that night and fixed the problem, 10 hours after it started, and 4 hours without water. The second guy seemed friendly, almost too friendly being the only reason he was there was to find something else to try and charge. Not to worry he found the house had high water pressure and needed a $440 fix, which he could provide. I looked up the part he finally installed 3 days later ($106), and it took him 30 minuted to install. If you do the math that's $334 labor charge, meaning the company charges over $600 per hour. Did i mention that the flooded room is still without carpet, and will be for more than a week, and that assuming it will get repaired on monday. I hope you consider twice before choosing this company. And check their work, it just might save you a FLOODED ROOM. read more

Paid them $600 to replace a toilet 2.5 years ago and am up to $4,000.00 in repairs because of it. Recently started having water show up in my walls and hallway, after working with my homeowners insurance it was discovered that this plumber used 2 stacked wax seals for my rear-dump toilet they replaced about 2.5 years ago, which is a big no-no in hot climates as the wax sits in your non-air-conditioned walls and will soften and fail, like this one did. To top it off, the idiot did not cut the tile out to facilitate a slightly larger toilet, which means it was backing up to the drain at an angle, the front 1/4" higher than the rear. No point in calling and reporting to them as they can just claim it was too long ago, no longer under warranty, bla bla bla, but this issue has caused a enormous amount of stress and loss in my house. I will recommend everyone I know to find another plumber, likely the one who has identified and is currently correcting the issue who I will be leaving a glowing review for. read more

We called Alan's plumbing when we lost water pressure in a part of our house. We were concerned about a slab leak under our home. They sent a manager, Pete, and Manuel out to our house and they were really great. They sent someone out promptly, they called me 30 minutes in advance to let me know they were on the way, they were polite, tidy and clean when they arrived and they fixed the problem very quickly. It turned out to be a MUCH smaller issue that cost less than $100 to fix! They answered all my questions, explained things to me and showed me exactly what was wrong. Overall EXCELLENT service - they will be our plumber for all future plumbing needs. read more

I have my home warranty through Fidelity and this is the company they always use to fix my plumbing issues. They are very responsive and call me right away to schedule a visit. Thankfully I haven't had any emergencies where I needed them ASAP, but they always seem to be able to come out the same or next day if needed. The only bummer is that, like all services like this probably, the time windows in which they will come to you suck. Like HUGE blocks of time that you have to wait at home and basically ruins your entire day. They will however give you a call when they are on their way which I guess is better than nothing. Anyway, all the plumbers who have come to my house are knowledgeable, friendly and do solid work. However, I can't comment on their prices because I just pay a small deductible to my home warranty company and they take care of it. * Pro Tip - No matter what number you call to get Alan's Plumbing, 80% of the time you will get a busy signal. Just keep trying and eventually you will get through. It is frustrating but they always pickup and are almost always friendly. read more

This company was the vendor sent through our home warranty plan. The technician came out on time which was nice, however he said he fixed the issues we were having and did not. We had to call another plumber a day later because the issue was not resolved. Not only were both of our bathroom valves still leaking but one of them was missing the two screws that hold it in place. When confronting the front office about their poor service and missing parts to our valve the woman I spoke with was very rude and did not attempt to resolve any issues. She said she would have the manager call me when he can so we'll wait to see how long that takes. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They were assigned by our home warranty to replace a failed garbage disposal. Tech arrived timely and appeared to do a good job, even upgraded the unit from 1/3 HP to 1/2 HP (thanks!) - but the next day we found the kitchen was flooded. Come to find out the tech failed to knock out the plug in the dishwasher line so the dishwasher overflowed all over the kitchen. When I called for a drain clean out, they gave me a specific 2 hour window for the next morning and then called me 30 minutes before the technician, Sean arrived. He was on time. Sean listened very carefully to our description of the problem and then got right to work. Our house is over 65 years old and he took great care in climbing on the roof and running the line. DO NOT USE Alan's Plumbing. They had to make two trips to fix a situation which the first plumber should have fixed (missed a toothbrush stuck in the toilet). We understand these things happen, so we asked for a discount on the second visit. The call agent agreed to a small discount, but when we asked for more and suggested he call Alan, Alan had him charge us EVEN MORE. What kind of customer service is this? DO NOT RISK having two service calls if you get a poor plumber. THIS IS TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES and they made a lot off of us on something that should have been done right the first time. Horrible customer service. We have an issue at our house and our home warranty company sent these guys. Who I'm assuming were the lowest bidder. I work clear on the other side of the valley and received the call saying they would be at my house. I immediately left work and saw that I would be a few minutes late. I called to let them know I was on my way and would be a few minutes late. I arrived 10 minutes after the time they assigned me in the 4 hour window with no plumber there. The underlying response I recieved was, we don't care and we will still make money without your repair order. The receptionist and so-called superviser were about as rude as they could professionaly be. I have rarley received this bad of treatment from a company and would not voluntarily choose them to do any kind of job. This week one of Alan's plumbers responded to a water heater issue at the above address. The water heater will not stay lit. Their plumber called the manufacturer who told him that it was more than likely a venting issue. Their plumber then told my Home warranty company this opinion. The home warranty company is now stating future repairs may NOT be covered. The closet door is a full length shutter door and there is a vent in the ceiling. The company that installed the water heater and another contractor disagree and feel the area is more than adequately vented and that it is more than likely a faulty igniter switch in that I have had the same issue in the past. Furthermore,this week their plumber attempted to obtain payment from my renter after I had already paid American Home Shield the $100 service fee the day prior. Several weeks ago their company responded to a repair at another home of mine. The plumber did not repair my refrigerator water supply line properly resulting in water damage to walls, base boards and the carpet. Another disaster company was sent by yours to extract the water and perform the necessary repairs. There own plumber did not come with parts and we went to Ace Hardware to get parts he needed. Then according to second plumber did not do the correct repair causing the flood. Obviously, Alan's plumbing is fill of excuses. I had a contractor and other plumber disagree. NOT WORTH A FLOOD IN MY HOME or providing my home warranty with false information on my other home . See other poor reviews. read more

Alan's Plumbing was dispatched through my home warranty company to resolve a stuck faucet issue in the master bath. I received a call saying they would be out on Dec 18th between 8am and 10am and they would call me with a 30min window. Today December 18th I received a call at 8:09am saying they are on their way, I said I will be there in about 30min. I work in central Phoenix and had to drive to my home in the easy valley which is about 25 - 35 min. At 8:40am I received a call asking where I am because the tech is waiting. I told the lady on the phone I will be there in 5 - 7min. She said if I was not there in 5min the tech was going to leave! I said if the tech leaves I will get another company and file a complaint against your company and hung up. Of course when I get there literally 4 minutes later, the tech is gone. I called Alan's plumbing at 8:44am(all times can be verified on my cell phone) and got attitude from their employee because I was upset at this situation. I was not using any foul language but my voice was raised due to the fact I just drove 28 miles took time off work, and most upsetting is they knew I was five minutes away and if you look at the numbers I arrived at my house at 8:44am and their first call to me was at 8:09am so in reality I was only 3min past the original 30min window! This behavior needs to be made known for others who may unknowing choose this company for any service. I have also called my warranty company to file a complaint against Alan's Plumbing in the hopes they will not use this company in the future, I know I will never accept a service call with Alan's again. This is the second plumbing company that we've had sent after calling our home warranty for separate issues.. I'm glad to say this was a MUCH MUCH better experience then the first one Tony came out and not only was very professional and fixed our problem but was very courteous and in my opinion went above and beyond in order to get the job done. From the first phone call until after the job was done we've had nothing but Great customer service from the office as well. When the pipe under our kitchen sink busted, I insisted AHS send out a different company this time. Alan's Plumbing answered the phone on the first call (no 20 minute hold time), their scheduling coordinator was very helpful in getting a tech scheduled the same day. I was notified 30 minutes before the tech arrived. He was punctual, professional and very efficient. After 20 minutes my sink was good as new. Very pleased with this plumbing company. read more
