I received several responses with quotes, and Desert Water Plumbing and Rooter was the first company to reach out. I contacted them around 5 PM on Wednesday, and they were able to schedule a free estimate for Friday. Dan Burke showed up right on time. He was professional, efficient, and easy to talk to. Like the other companies I spoke with, he recommended repiping as the best solution for the long run. He gave me an estimate for the project and also mentioned that if the office couldn't schedule the repair on Monday, he could stop by to do a quick temporary fix to stop the leak and then come back when they could finish the job. I really appreciated that because I don't like wasting water. The price Dan quoted was also very reasonable compared to the other companies. After thinking it over, I decided to go with Desert Water Plumbing and Rooter and called the office to schedule the appointment. They weren't able to do the repipe on Monday but scheduled it for Tuesday. Dan did come by on Monday to help temporarily stop the leak. Then he and his team came back Tuesday morning and started the project. Everything went smoothly. My house now has a new pipe, no more leaking, and it feels great knowing the issue is fixed. It was a call in the evening not too late around 8 PM and a technician came out and she quickly diagnosed that one of my systems was the outdoor fan and the other one was the compressor. I did not agree with her diagnosis and so I had another company come out and they diagnosed it differently and I told the American home and water what the diagnosis was and had them come out and do a second opinion and they said you're right it is the control board. Please keep in mind that this unit is under warranty and it has been almost a full month and I've had one call made to me about the status of the warranty claim and the replacement part and in the meantime, I went with another company to have this repaired under warranty. Two reasons I'm writing this review; number one the technician that diagnose my systems was completely wrong originally and I was able to get it fixed quickly using another company and while I'm still waiting for this company to be in contact with me about the replacement part under warranty. I hate writing this because they've had great service early on and it's a disappointment that their customer service is now what's making me write this. We ultimately paid way too much for a basic 50 gallon hot water heater swap (bundled price of almost $3000). I was out of town and my wife was busy with work when this happened. We had used Bumble Bee Plumbing in the past and trusted them. That trust has been broken and will never return. My wife left a Google review. There was a response posted as "response from the owner" which left a phone number of 602-813-0298 to call so we could speak with their "manager" to address our concerns. I tried to call that number twice...it's been disconnected! Do your research, get multiple bids and verify that the company you are calling is truly LOCALLY OWNED and has not been rolled up under some private equity structure. We have all seen countless stories about how private equity could care less about the customer and how they leave a trail of destruction and debt in the end. It's largely about profits, margins and EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization). This is the valuation metric that's referenced (with a multiple applied) when they sell. In most cases, that's ultimately ALL PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS CARE ABOUT! It's a sad yet not surprising story on the fleecing of America! All I can say about Bumble Bee Plumbing is my experience was very different this time and it appears that since my last time using them, private equity has gotten involved. I'll let you draw your own conclusions! Would love to see a customer advocacy/awareness story on one of the local news affiliates about how private equity has consolidated so many previously locally owned trade businesses (plumbing, HVAC, electrical). They quickly and expertly diagnosed the issues with both on visit one. We had to add way more potassium pellets to our water softener, but there was nothing we had to do that cost us anything to fix. As for our shower, we had to order a warranty replacement part. However, once it arrived they came out quickly to fix everything. Rapid Rooter is easy to schedule with. They communicate well and are on-time and courteous in all their work.
