He came to my door about half an hour after I told him my story mostly out of indignant frustration. He tested my pool for leaks on the spot and charged me a third less than the other company for it. Called me when he needed to add another diagnostic to locate the still undetected leak and told me he was not going to be able to save the "frozen parts" asked permission to continue, which I gave him. Called about a leak in our backyard, and within 20 minutes he had it diagnosed. Very professional, punctual, and knowledgeable. *Edit-Had my landscaper look at the leak and determined it was not where Leak hunters said it was, nor did I need to replace anything like it was recommended. I had to schedule my appointment about a month and a half to 2 months in advance. Alex was polite and did mention a $300 fee for the leak inspection on the phone. When he came over he turned on the water for the floatation device which was off after previous work had been done. Thus the culprit for lack of water and me having to fill with a hose was found. Apparently not the water loss I had feared. He turned on/off the pop up system. He gave me a few tips about what to buy for cleaning the pool and that was about it. I plead ignorance on the floatation water valve. I am not a pool equipment/plumbing expert by any means, although I am pretty capable of keeping it clean and chemically balanced. He said there was nothing else to check for as far as leaks which surprised me and charged the full $300. It seemed like a pricey maybe 10 minute visit max, to me, hence my 3.5 stars if it were available, but I wasn't going to haggle. A pricey bit of ignorance on my part, lesson learned. You can use your own judgment on the value. I get he is a professional and needs to be paid for his work, being a small business owner myself, but I personally found it a bit much for the amount of return and time it took to get him out here. When I initially called about a potential leak in our pool, Alex gave me a couple of suggestions to test for over the phone that could have eliminated the need to engage him. I tried, to no avail, and there was no question about who I was bringing in to assess the situation. Alex and his son were prompt, thorough in their assessment, and informative about explaining how they diagnosed the issues. The great news is that there were no structural or piping failures causing the leak. The fix was simple, requiring adjustments to the water level in the connected spa and an adjustment to the auto filler. But we could have never gotten to that point without their careful diagnosis. We thought that we either had a leak in our inground vinyl liner or in our piping under our cool deck as our water levels kept dropping. So we called Alex over at Leak Hunters. I recently purchased a home with a pool and after reviewing the 1st water bill, I knew I had a problem! I called Leak Hunters based on the Yelp reviews and so glad I did. Just knowing the problem is such a relief. After pressure checking all the pool lines, followed by plugging, Alex found the problem. He recommended a plug for the line (which cost me $1.61 at Ace Hardware) which will stop the leak.
