Did anyone ever notice that Aria doesn't sell "day old" goods? They don't because they donate what they don't sell each day to local non-profits. Pretty cool. I was in there on Sat, and the manager asked me if I could deliver some goods to the firefighters at the Ramsey fire up by Gann's Meadow. After driving past hundreds of firefighters last week, I had been considering what I could do for them to show thanks (besides the many signs alongside the road from families whose homes had been saved by those tireless professionals...). Been to Murphys twice and twice have I been to this place for a quick breakfast. Delicious pastries and good coffee. Very small inside but they have outside seating. It's a great spot for people watching while you eat. Love the atmosphere here. read more

In the CUTE town of Murphy's, I discovered the best cupcake I've ever had in my ENTIRE life!!! Every bite was a bit of heaven with just enough tartness and sweetness deserving of the name Lemon Heaven! No exaggeration! Taste this cupcake. I've waited in line in Los Angeles for an hour and 15 minutes for Sprinkles cupcakes (that Oprah raves about) and it's NOOOOO comparison. Sprinkles tastes like good quality cupcakes your grandma may have made but THIS cupcake from ARIA is a TRUE gourmet delight! Okay, did I give you the impression that I kinda like this cupcake?? I can't wait to try the rest of the stuff they have. The town itself is getting upscale with a lot of part time establishments. This has caused some dissension because the original store owners don't appreciate half of the town shutting down when they are there full time trying to make a living. Purchased a Yule log for Christmas eve. It was very sloppily put together and poorly packed, decorations smashed. Tasted of artificial cherry flavoring. At $40.00 it was a real waste of money and frankly I was embarrassed that I had served it. No one finished their dessert and around here that has never happened before. I have had pastries here before and they were good. Have heard this place is changing hands, hope my experience it not a harbinger of things to come. I'll try it again but if this had been my first experience I would not be coming back. read more

I agree with some of the previous reviews that the attitude of the employees could be a bit better, but the main reason for only 3 stars is that I picked out a pastry, and the barista (?) took my money and then touched my pastry to put it in the bag. We stopped here to try it out for our brunch wedding, and the pastries we tried (croissant, apple caramel scone, blueberry best claw, and blueberry muffin) were all really good. Happened to be going through town kind of early on a Sunday morning, and decided to stop at Aria. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The baked goods had amazing flavor. I found it pricey, just as others had mentioned in their reviews. I would give it five stars if it wasn't for the apparent lack of cleanliness. I know it's in an old historic building, but the place just appeared dirty in my opinion. How about a good thorough cleaning? Just my pet peeve I guess. Will I be back? Yeah, probably. read more

One of my favorite bakeries ever! Every one is so so nice, and they remember who you are. Everyone greets you with a smile and a hello. Food/service are great. If you can sit outside, that's great, as there's not much space inside. So love this tiny bakery. Their expresso is strong. Their croissants are so dang amazing. I get the 3 cheese although they have a ham and cheese I've never tried it. Whatever they put in the 3 cheese I crave it as soon as I leave town. ;-) They have fruit tarts that are bomb. Strudel that'll knock your socks off. I usually am here during winter months which can get crowded. (All the ski resort traffic) They will even sell out of some pastries. Come during the summer months it seems to be just locals which makes it nice and not overcrowded. read more

It's funny because when I walked into this bakery I thought for a moment I was in a small bakery in Manhattan-it reminded me of the Sullivan Street bakery in Hells Kitchen. Then I noticed the prices on the pastries and had a bit of sticker shock. I don't think I've ever paid over $4 for a croissant no matter what was inside it. I didn't try any of the baked goods, just got a coffee to go. I am giving it 4 stars because the staff was so friendly and efficient & coffee was pretty good. Holy Crap. This place rocked my world. First of all, it's in the cutest little town. Secondly, they had the best, friendliest service. Thirdly (how can this be the third best thing??) they have fantastic food!! Only drawback is the tiny space. But oh my, the food. We went there twice in one super fun wine tasting weekend. We had some kind of quiche that had bacon and other tasty ingredients...the best I've ever had by far. We also tried a biscuit that had scallions and maybe asiago? can't remember what cheese it was, but the biscuit was so flaky and melt-in-your-mouth, WOW. I wish I had reviewed this sooner after our visit so I could remember more details...we were there in early December 2009. We stumbled upon this place a while back as we were driving home from Bear Valley. We wanted to stop in Murphy's to check out some of the wineries but arrived in town before they opened. To kill some time we took a walk down the street and came upon this bakery. My husband is a big cinnamon roll fan so we bought a big one for him and a couple small ones for the kids. I opted not to have anything, which was a mistake. I took a nibble of my husband's roll and it was probably the best cinnamon roll I've ever had! We've been back a couple times and but haven't tried anything else yet because the cinnamon rolls are so good. I am thinking that we should branch out the next time we are there since other reviews have good things to say about the other goodies, but it's hard to stray from such a yummy thing that I can't get in the Bay Area! read more

Went in here to get a coffee and maybe some pastries. They were very rude to my friend and I. After a rude comment from one of the ladies we decided to not get a pastry and just get our coffees that were already being made. A couple hours later our other friends went to grab coffees and they asked about some cookies and got a rude response. They have good pastries but they have the same things every time I go maybe they should change their menu up a bit. The bread they sell isn't that great either, the cinnamon bread I got was just meh kinda plain. Also the staff could be friendlier, they are never smiling and I always feel rushed to hurry up and order when I walk in, even when no one is behind us.
