Been meaning to try Ari out for a while and very happy to have remembered it this last weekend. First impressions.. wonderfully decorated inside, clean and we were greated by staff member as we walked in. I'm very sensitive to ceiling fans they are everywhere and probably great in the summer but the night was unusually cold. We told the staff member that I couldn't sit directly under the fan, she didn't hesitate to go turn it off. The menu is extensive, I love when Sushi restaurants have full descriptions of all ingredients so you aren't left to a surprise. Ari has a large selection of the usual sushi choices and an extremely impressive collection of unique creations. There was an ingredient we didnt want and they didnt hesitate to accommodate. Not only are the prices very reasonable for their high end rolls, but the size of the rolls were large too. Each roll was an artwork of perfection and amendments we made due to allergies were delivered correctly. Fresh Wasabi was definitely worth the price. Large alcohol selection and very decent prices. One big positive thing to note was that when the bill was delivered, their suggested % calculations were accurate (where some are not) and didnt include sales tax into the %.. which is the right thing to do. First visit to Ari Sushi and after our experience we will definitely be back. They had an excellent selection of sushi rolls that didn't have crab mix, so we were able to either ask for no crab mix or order rolls that already didn't have it. The prices were very reasonable. When we first got in, we noticed that the tables that they had available were under a very powerful fan. We commented about the fan being too strong at the table, they wanted to seat us., and they quickly turned the fan off which was really nice. Our sushi rolls were excellent and the staff was pretty good. Before we ever received our rolls a server removed our empty appetizer dish and chop stick wrappers. The menu descriptions were very detailed, so we knew what the ingredients were. When we received to bill I was pleased to see the various tip percentages at the bottom were calculated based on pre tax total. You have watch that these days! read more

Nice little neighborhood sushi and Japanese joint. Food is good, but service is mediocre.

I remember when this place first opened, around 2010 maybe, and the owner would stand outside on the street with a sign designating people to this restaurant. People talked about it because it was one of the first Asian owned businesses in this area. 15 years later I'm finally getting around trying this place. The inside is cute and a little campy. I like the sushi bar seating, which is a necessity at any authentic sushi bar. I was the first people here for lunch. I ordered one sushi roll and nigiri and waited 20 minutes. The dish arrived and I was impressed by the plating. The flavor was also solid. I really enjoyed my meal! I did notice that this place is Korean-staffed -- not saying they're not good at sushi, but that maybe their Korean entrees would be worth a try. read more

Decent sushi, about average but not a lot of options in the area. I thought the prices for regular rolls were higher than most places. I wish they mentioned if a roll has cucumber so you can order without. I got overcharged for an extra roll I didn't get and it took a while to get corrected. We've been here maybe half a dozen times. We so desperately want a decent sushi restaurant in our area; this is definitely not it. Perhaps this should be named "Ari Ramen" or "Ari Bulgogi" since a number of their specials lean this way. I can tell you that the sushi has gotten progressively worse since we've been going here, although if you like mayo-laden rolls this could be your go-to. Last night's nigiri sushi not only tasted BAD (Maguro and hamachi were dry! Salmon was fishy!), but it left us with upset stomachs. Cute and cozy neighborhood sushi spot. Service was excellent, checked on us throughout our visit. Water glasses kept full. Started with Spicy edamame's, were amazing. Then got three rolls, Spider, Arizona, & O'Happy day. All were excellent. The Arizona was particularly good, the salmon was so fresh that was tempted to get a second. But were too full. Ordered 8 rolls and wanted 1 kids portion and said they wouldn't do the kids portion to go. ‍ Not to mention the tables were sticky and not clean. When we got home the "fried" rice is simply white rice w vegetables added. All the sushi was crammed into one container, pretty janky. The rolls were all only ok. This is some of the best sushi I have had in Arizona. The service was pretty good. I ordered the tuna roll and 2 shrimp hand rolls. I was pleasantly surprised. The only bummer is the price. This place is pretty expensive for a sushi spot. It could be due to inflation. There were 2 of us and our bill was just shy of $100. We didn't order a lot so I will pick more wisely the next time I go. We tried to get information on whether they have a happy hour but the waitress wasn't forthcoming with the information so we still have no idea. read more

What was once a great sushi restaurant has gone downhill quickly. The quality of the food is still excellent, but the service is some of the worst I've ever experienced. Half full restaurant and we had to wave someone over to us just to get menus. After that, another long extended wait to order our food while we watched the servers fill extra water glasses, lineup plates on the table, and watch as food for other diners piled up on the counter. read more

I recently dined at Ari Sushi and Grill, and unfortunately, it did not meet expectations. This visit was prompted by a gift card, which turned out to be more of a hassle than a treat. Despite the gift card having no expiration date and matching the restaurant's name and address, the manager refused to accept it, stating that the gift card was issued by the previous owner. They cited an inability to verify previous gift cards as the reason, which I find troubling. When acquiring a business, it seems reasonable that the new owners would honor past obligations, so this situation felt quite frustrating. The dining experience was also a disappointment. The restaurant added a 20% gratuity to the bill, which I found unwarranted given the subpar service we received. The staff took our order and delivered the food but failed to check in on us throughout the meal. Our drinks went unrefilled, and after we finished eating, we were left waiting for 15-20 minutes before finally having to flag someone down just to get the check. If you are going to add gratuity to the bill, there should be costumer service standards that match. Overall, the combination of poor service and the handling of the gift card situation left a sour taste. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this establishment and will not be returning. read more

Went here at 6pm Friday and found a seat easily. The selection is broad, not overwhelming. Prices are similar others in the valley, but final bill was less than expected. Server very was friendly and kept watch for our table needs. Best part is the 80s MTV music videos playing creating an enjoyable, groovy evening that everyone was enjoying. Pretty darn good food, nice table and bar, clean bathrooms. Like other reviewers said, the service is a little slow. We were there with maybe 4 other people in the restaurant. We decided to try the neighborhood sushi joint, after reading about it for years. I really wanted to love it because it gets solid reviews but our experience was not special. It wasn't busy on Friday night yet but service seemed overwhelmed and rushed in their interactions. No happy hour. Sake was $8, which is not out of line for regular price. Edamame seemed pricey, but we ordered it because we were starving. Good thing because the food order took FOREVER! A salmon skin hand roll is almost $11 here. I know it takes time to make a crispy baked salmon skin in the toaster oven. I watched. This place is still SLOW! The roll is quite pretty, with micro sprouts and a large meaty piece of salmon skin. It tasted very nice although not extra crispy as ordered. However many places offer the same dish for as little as $4.50 and there is little difference in the contents. We also ordered a dragon roll. It was also very pretty, nice presentation, and very tasty but priced about 40% above other sushi establishments. Perhaps it is the barren far north Phoenix market lacking nearby sushi that drives this business to price itself far out of the acceptable range. I am not sure. We saw a number of families, with small children in tow, joining the dining room before we left. Perhaps the convenience of nearby Japanese cuisine exceeds the desire for good value? Anyway I am glad I tried it but there are other options for me. I left hungry. read more

Located in cave creek and owned and operated by family business. Authentic sushi with all the traditional appetizers and entrees. Salmon nigiri was perfect balance of fat and lean meat. I tend to stick to more of the traditional sushi rather than the rolls so I cannot comment on their rolls. Fish is a good quality. It definitely reflects on their more raw dishes. Great happy hour spot! Came here for Orion okinawa beer, as sushi brokers has failed to have it in stock in well over 6 months now. I will make the extra drive to come out here to avoid sushi brokers any day if the week. read more
