Assortment of cheeses, cured and preserved meats, and a baguette.

If you are visiting the Hochelaga district in Montréal you can find the elements of a nice québécois picnic lunch. A baguette is the starting point, for "le pain et ses cómplices", various delicious local cheeses, cured meats such as slices of capiccollo sausage or jambon, some variety of fatty concoction such as terrine and duck rillettes, and a good local wine or cidre at a nearby shop, and you can eat like royalty, at a very reasonable price.

I love this cute hipster deli. So many vegetarian options! Pastries are fresh and have quality flavors. The cookies are like perfect fresh baked chip ahoy bites!

What can I say about this place that hasn't already been said? The bread is amazing; the cheese and meat counter offer an eclectic selection of goods, and you can spend hours perusing this place, and still find something delicious on the shelves. I usually stop in for a ready-to-eat sandwich which can be warmed on site if you're looking for a quick lunch. The flavours are bold and creative, and the sandwiches are always fresh and made with quality ingredients; worth the average 8$. What I really love about this place is their baked goods. From their pastries to their cakes, it's hard to choose! I opted for their chocolate brownie today which is huge! It's soft but crumbly and filled with huge walnuts; it's just amazing! I often order my cakes from here too; if you have a chance to order one of their annual Christmas logs, do not hesitate!

Enjoyed a ham, egg, and cheese croissant for a late breakfast. The croissant was super flaky and delicious! Picked up an almond cake to go and that was lovely as well. Husband had coffee (several refills!) and a cappuccino cake. Cute little place with a great variety of cheeses, meats, breads, and bakery items.

When you have a coffee outside your house you want your experience to be one that elevates not only your tastebuds but your entire day, this place kind of does that. A simple coffee that isn't too expensive, home made baked goods that are restaurant quality and a feeling that you are paying for a coffee better than the one you can make at home. You really can't get that at the chain coffee shops, not these days. Community based I would say it's better than most coffee shops in Old Montreal, try the chocolate brownie or pain au chocolat with a cup of hand pressed coffee, it's worth your $5.

We walked 20 mins from the Olympic Stadium to find this place, and it was totally worth it. They have a selection of sandwiches that are not your usual fare. We so tried their fresh bread (you can buy fresh cheese to go with it), and their lemon tart. I would definitely reccomend.

This place was hands down a highlight of my Montréal food scene experience. The shop itself is very cute and cozy, with just two small tables by the window and a few chairs. The décor is simple, and so are your choices, which honestly works in their favor. When you step inside, you get a direct view of the bakers working their magic, which makes the experience even better. We ordered a hot chocolate, plain croissants, chocolate croissants, and a slice of the Kouign‑Amann. If you like a dark, rich hot chocolate that's not overly sweet, look no further, this is the place. As for the croissants, both the plain and chocolate versions were good but fairly standard. However, the real star was the Kouign‑Amann. It was served warm, perfectly crispy, and had just the right amount of sweetness without being overwhelming. It was so good that when I finished my slice, I went back to the counter hoping for more but they were sold out. To be fair, I arrived around 2pm and they close at 3pm. Despite that, the line moved quickly, and the staff were some of the sweetest people ever. My only regret? I only bought one slice. I'd highly recommend this place, but make sure you get there early if you want to snag a slice of Kouign‑Amann before they sell out.

We both had a "tranche" /slice /portion of the flaky pastry originating from Brittany. While it does not look like the Kouign Amanns I've had before, it definitely tasted fabulous. We were not the only ones who thought so. While we ate our bounty at one of the two open tables, we saw person after person purchase whole galettes, possibly for an upcoming family gathering. The pastry had a sweet and crunchy crust and a buttery interior. Here, it does not resemble a croissant. Instead, the layers of dough were softer than the typical honeycomb structure of a croissant. Speaking of which, my sister also recommends the croissants here, which she used to have regularly when the shop was open more frequently.

I was intrigued, and since I can always go for some carbs I decided to head in and check this place out. Unlike most bakeries I visited, Boulangerie Guillaume has a much more modern look, and is larger than a standard bakery. Walking in, I was immediately greeted by stairs which led up to the main production area. All of the bakes were arranged on the back-wall perimeter of the space separated from the pedestrians by a glass wall. The color scheme was mostly black to contrast the bright yellow of the bags and signage. The arrangement of the bakes, combined with the color scheme and modern aesthetics, resulted in a stunning, visually striking presentation. I wasn't too hungry, but I can always go for some sweets and their date square looked good. I went with that, along with a cappuccino. The square was delicious - the dates were high quality, and the crust underneath was moist while maintaining its integrity. The cappuccino was also good, a great complement to the bake. Service was efficient, and overall I had a great experience at Boulangerie Guillaume. I definitely want to return to explore more of their menu - I noticed they had some savory items so perhaps for some lunch. Definitely one of the best bakeries I visited in Montreal.

The bakery is located in a basement surrounded in stone both on the exterior and interior. The bakery isn't large, but it's arranged in a way that foot traffic flows well. They have a good variety of bakes, though we were there relatively late in the day so some had already run out. Despite that, we had several to choose from. We decided to go with the ham and cheese croissant and one of their stuffed croissants. The former was pretty standard - there's wasn't a lot of ham but the flavor was there. The latter was one of those viral circular croissants that have been popular on social media; they had three flavors and I went with the lemon meringue. It was pretty good - it had a good ratio of stuffing to pastry and the lemon curd had a bright flavor. Service as good, the team was eager to help and super efficient. Overall, I had a good experience at La Cave a Manger - there are definitely some good bakes here and I wouldn't hesitate to return to try more of their menu.

The Long Version: So I had never heard of Rossetti before. They didn't exist when I was living in Montreal (the 2000s) and after I left, my husband (who was still my boyfriend at the beginning) and I would return often (at least a few times a year until 2019) and I'm pretty sure they weren't around then. We took a few years hiatus from visiting Montreal and then when we returned in 2024, boom, Rossetti had 4 different locations in the downtown core! What's their origin story? I have no idea. Their website has no "About Us" section. All I know is they opened sometime between 2020 and 2024, lol. I tried their caramel eclair ($5.50). The caramel icing was really tasty, but I found the choux pastry and the custard filling a bit dry. They have cannoli, amaretti, financiers, croissants and tarts. They also have sandwiches and pizza. I was disappointed that they didn't have sfogliatella, my favourite Italian pastry. Oh, they also have coffees and teas. The interior is nice with seating to dine in. Service was neutral. I may return to try another item. Maybe at one of their other locations. Review #16 (2025)

While in Miami last year, my husband, mother-in-law and I became big fans of the Rosetta on lower Collins Ave and then once they opened the one by Lincoln Center in NYC, we began to visit that one often since it's walking distance. After climbing to the Kondiaronk Belvedere on Mont Royal, we decided we needed sustenance on our way back down and we spied Rosetti as we were walking back to our hotel. Since it looked very similar to Rosetta, we decided to stop in and grab a bite. The sandwiches and pastries were on full display and we knew we made a good choice. I had a Pizza Margherita which was huge...I could have shared it. I also had a caramel tart for a sweet treat afterwards. Others in the group had sandwiches and other sweets which they all enjoyed. There are some stools at a counter downstairs and a little more seating upstairs with a few low tables along with some high tops and counters. The ladies who worked there were very nice. We enjoyed our food and think it's a great place for a quick bite that's a bit elevated from traditional fast food.
