We bought a couch that was delivered last December (about a year ago). Since the fabric we picked is a "performance fabric" we decided not to get the Worry Free Protection plan. In the past, we got our couches from Macy's and got the performance fabric and it was never an issue getting stains out - even red wine - so we didn't think we needed the plan.
A few months after we got the couch it started to pill. We've never had that happen to furniture. I called Arhaus and they suggested buying a sweater shaver - they said the fabric we got tends to pill. I wish I had known that before we settled on the fabric. Then a few months ago I noticed some stains on our couch in several places. No one in my family fessed up to it but it looked like just some dirt. I looked on the Arhaus website on how to clean their performance fabric, followed their instructions but it wouldn't come up. I called Arhaus and they said there wasn't much they could do since we didn't get the Worry Free Plan. I hired a professional upholstery cleaner. It looks slightly better but he wasn't able to get the stain completely out either. He said it's not oil or anything like that - it just seems like dirt and was very surprised at how hard it is to get up. He said this is not typical of a performance fabric.
I also noticed a random seam running across the top of a cushion (not in a place where there should be a seam). I didn't notice it when we first got the couch so I'm not sure if it was there the whole time or new?
I'm giving 3 stars because the manager and sales people at the Fairfax Arhaus are very nice and responsive. It just seems to me like their hands are tied as far as how much they can do to resolve certain issues.
After some persistence, the manager offered to give me two new casings for the cushions that have the stains. While I so appreciate that, my concern is that my couch is not performing like a performance fabric and it's only one year old. What I would like is a new couch with a more stain resistant fabric that doesn't pill. I would also go darker since it seems that even their performance fabric can stain (with just dirt).
The manager suggested I call Arhaus Customer Service to pursue further. I called on January 3rd and emailed them pictures, as the rep suggested. He mentioned there is staffing shortage (Covid related) and it may take longer then expected to get back to me. He suggested I call if I don't hear back after 5 days. I didn't hear back so I sent an follow up email on 1/10. I didn't get a reply so I called yesterday, on 1/19. The rep I spoke with was very nice but said that the performance fabric doesn't work with all stains (even just dirt I guess?). It seems that Arhaus has a very strict/rigid policy when it comes to their warranty of fabric and their staff is not able to go outside of it, even if the situation calls for it. He is supposed to get back to me on what they can do but it will be in relation to the random seam, not the stains.
So this is my very long way of saying, if you buy an Arhaus couch, even a performance fabric, I would definitely get the "Worry Free Protection Plan" otherwise you'll have a hard time getting resolution if you have any issues with the fabric.
Overall, the furniture is beautiful and the sales people are very nice.
UPDATE: The manager escalated my case to the corporate level and an executive called me. She was very apologetic and helpful. It took some persistence and time to get this resolved, but I do appreciate the store manager's responsiveness and that it was eventually brought to the attention of the person who could provide resolution. read more
