My wife and I have made this our "date night" spot with our little toddler as they have more than enough outdoor seating, delicious beers and pizzas that are better than competitors in the area. Similar to all restaurants during these unprecedented times, staffing is not easy to come by. With that said, it is impressive to see their general manager and owner hustling around to make things function as smoothly as possible. We will continue supporting this family business, and we can never manage to leave without a 4-pack to go - I guess that speaks to their quality! read more

The pizza has always been top-notch, but my favorite part of coming here is always the beer. They have had some super-delicious brews in a bunch of different styles. The bartender, I think his name is Pete, is a pleasure to talk to and has pointed us to some other great Delaware breweries since we're new to the area. This is probably my favorite spot in town. Worst happy hour I've ever been to in the state of Delaware. Not only was the bar service horrendous but the food was worse. How dose a bar mess up nachos? And early into the HH how dose the bar hag... oops sorry I mean bar maid forget our drink order two minutes after she walks off?! WTH! And has the nerve to have an attitude?! Throws us something that looks like nachos with some semblance of melted cheese. To top off the half- a$$ service I'm over charged... So do yourself a favor and go anyplace, but here. Such a great place all around. We go in here about every other week and have been very happy with the quality of the food, drinks, and service. Offering some salads and sandwiches that have been good, the pizza is really great. Everything on the menu is good, they could probably use some more fried appetizers, but they are much better than most bar food. They have a limited beer selection, but all of their homemade beer is unique and very drinkable. There are bar specials and live music nights with local artists, but it's a great place to just hang out to the jukebox. The staff has always been friendly and attentive, we have seen many at this point and always received fast service. They have a welcoming little spot at Pietros, and it's easily a favorite place for us to go. read more

Ordered the sweet potato fries appetizer with honey & cinnamon- fries were crisp and the honey-cinnamon combo was not overly sweet. Beer was great. Food terrible! Ordered a shrimp avocado BLT. Avocado was frozen, bacon cold and rancid, shrimp cold, and bread a hard toast! Server apologized and said she told the kitchen about it. I have never written a bad review about any restaurant because if I don't like it I just won't return. However, with Argilla this was one of the first places I went to when I moved to Delaware. One of my husbands workers raved about it. We went and it was delicious! Some of the best pizza we have ever had. Fresh toppings, crust wasn't greasy but wasn't dry. It was awesome. I recommended it to everyone and we even went there for a birthday. The service was slow but the food made up for it. I liked the atmosphere of the place; sort of cool, down to earth vibe. However, my feelings have changed. The service got worse and worse too the point where, I believe, there was only one waiter working and some cooks in the kitchen. The last time we went, and probably final time unless some drastic things change, it was extremely slow. It was my family of four and another family of four and two people at the bar. I keep reassuring my husband that we will forget about the service once the food comes.....wrong. The nachos, which have always been my favorite, were disgusting. The chips were stale tasting and over cooked and instead of using fresh shredded cheese like they use too it was straight nacho cheese...like the stuff that comes out of a box. I am fine with nacho cheese...if I'm paying for $3 nachos at a little league game. Not $15 nachos that took 25 minutes to comes out. The veggies were surprisingly fresh but the cheese made everything soggy. Again, tried to reassure my husband that the pizza will make up for it. Wrong again. I ordered the arugula pizza which was my favorite pizza I ever had. Sun dried tomatoes, arugula topped on it, white sauce and fresh chunks of garlic, my favorite part. However when the pizza came out, no garlic. NO GARLIC. What's the point of getting a pizza with minimal ingredients because the taste it suppose to be delicious. Just tomatoes and arugula. To top it off when I was looking around the place trying to figure out how my once favorite pizza joint turned into the biggest waste of my money I spotted a Costco like package of 2 liters of coke. Not fountain soda; warm, sitting out 2 lifters. My husband and I came to the conclusion that they are running out of money and cutting back on things. With all that being said, and I feel quit ridiculous writing this extensive of a review when usually I just say "this food is gross, I'm not coming back", I won't be going back unless it goes back to how it was. And hopefully it will. I hope someone will appreciate the history of Pietros pizza and wants to bring fresh ingredients back and not cut back on the food. Also, the only reason I didn't give this a one star is because it says one star is "the worst thing you have ever eaten", so I gave it a two star "never recommend the place". The worst thing I have ever eaten is the supposedly nacho cheese that comes out of an MRE (meal ready to eat) that they give to soldiers when they is no cafeteria or chow hall around....this was a close second. read more

My husband and I really like Argilla. We've been a number of times and had good experiences, but after the last two visits we won't be returning. Both times, we arrived, were seated, and then were ignored for at least 15 minutes without so much as a "Sorry, I'll be with you in a minute." No water, no drinks, no ordering food. Last time we figured it was a fluke and stayed anyway. Tonight we saw it was a pattern and walked out to get our pizza elsewhere--but not before waiting another couple minutes being ignored at the host stand while trying to inform the staff that we were leaving. I brought a softball team here because I've been here on Friday and Saturday nights and it has been great in the past. Don't come on a Tuesday... one waitress in the entire place took 15 mins to seat us even though the place was empty. Waitress didn't know the specials..out of red bull... out of Jack daniels?? Out of all moonshine drinks? Food took 45 minutes and even then half the table ate while others waited another 15 minutes. Drinks came 30 plus minutes after we ordered them. Such a disappointing experience... The lack of any kind of decent service from staff and food was not there. Our server had not given us any notice after seating us that they had shut off the "flat top" after we arrived (this is a week day not even 9 pm yet), limiting out option to anything only deep fried or pizza (Kind of odd to run a kitchen like that, maybe just personal opinion)! Ordered our appetizers way ahead of time before we had given the rest of our order. So our entree (pizza) had made its way to the table before our appetizers (nachos and the raved about onion rings) which we had to ask our server about our apps, then she brings out our apps... Cold. Naturally the server blamed the kitchen ( okayyyyy ) We had our nachos taken back to reheat, they came back still cold in the center! Onion rings were just so bland that we didn't bother asking to salvage those. Pizza oven needs to be seriously cleaned, our pizza was covered on the bottom in this musky black film. Never have I seen that on the bottom of a pizza like that ever! Not a place I'd be willing to give a second chance. read more

My first time there, ordered the Crabby Nappa, which tasted like someone dumped canned NE clam chowder on pizza (pools of flavorless liquid sitting on the pizza) and added extremely bitter, overcooked broccoli rabe. The pizza and service is average at best. I have tried other items but most are too salty or just not well prepared. The surprise is the lack of real excitement for the beer. We went here yesterday at lunch to try a new place. I ordered a beer which was the best part of my meal....the beer was excellent. I had read a few reviews that talked about the French Onion soup, so my wife and I each ordered a bowl. It came out and looked delicious, but the broth had a strong vinegar smell. Not something I've ever had in a french onion soup....and...it's not good. We moved on and waited for the Margherita pizza to come out. We figured pizza would be safe...but that wasn't good either. It was soupy....hard to explain. Almost like they took hot sauce and partially melted cheese in it...then spread that onto the pizza. Then added some fresh mozzerela and basic on top. My wife and I both commented that we get better pizza from the slice places like Peace o Pizza or Margherita's on Main Street (and those pizzas have been sitting out for who knows how long). Don't plan on going back...unless it's just for beer. read more

Great house crafted beer, good food and friendly service.

Our first time here we had the pork pizza (has another name). It was amazing. The pork was well cooked and had a lite heat to it. The pizza was cooked perfectly and the crust was crispy and not greasy. The beer is good. They have at least 6 beers on tap. They are well done for the small brew pub that they are. The server was friendly and had great recommendations as well. Over all I would definitely come back. It's a great place in between Newark and Wilmington. read more

Went for some snacks on Sunday evening - was pretty quiet and seemed to only be locals/regulars. The food here was overpriced and bland. Buffalo Chicken spring rolls were almost tasteless. Tacos were $4 each and literally only came with meat and onions - nothing else (lettuce, tomato, sour cream, sauce, nada.) Pizza looked decent but we only had appetizers. The beer was pretty good but that was it. It took a few minutes to get a server to take our beer order and then a long time to actually get a beer. The service was very poor. We order the special pizza but it wasn't so special. When it was time pay the bill the never proved a bill but rather just provided the total off of an iPad. We realized after we left that they over charged us. We will never go back to this place. There are too many great restaurants to choose from. read more
