Went here for dinner with my parents and the place was not what i expected. Not necessarily in a bad way though. The service was fairly nice, a real family feel. And the set up of the restauant with the pizza maker and bar in the middle was really cool. The big downfall was the inconsistency with the appearance of the place. The outside appearance makes it look like an upscale pizza place, but once you walk inside the decor does not feel that way at all The place is more of a grungy pizza joint feel. Came here for my high school 20th reunion recently and it was awesome, the staff was so attentive and the food was great (I had a slice of pizza), music was a little on the loud side but it was something we all knew ahead of time. However the farther back tables were not as loud as the closer ones were to the front. Their pizza is great!!! Gonna have to go back and get another slice or two! read more

I have been searching for a good burger since Union City Grille closed. On Monday, March 9, 2015, I tried out Arghilla Brewing Co. at Pietro's Pizza on Kirkwood Highway. Monday nights are 1/2 price burger night. I sat at the bar. The place is not very large. On Mondays, they have a live oldies band. They were very good, but a little loud when sitting at the bar. It was a little hard getting the attention of the bartender. I ordered a porter. It was very good. With the burger you get 3 toppings. I ordered the burger medium with blue cheese, bacon and fried onions. The burger is large and was very good. The fries were ok, but not great. Overall, I found the meal very good. I would recommend if you like burgers, check it out. You may not want to sit at the bar, but there is seating to the side. read more

Disappointing. Service was friendly, and the beer was delicious, but we came for the food and left unhappy. Onion soup was terrible - had a very pungent vinegar taste. Couldn't even finish it. Pizza was just meh - ordered the Margerhita - it was soggy...the roasted garlic was mushy, it was sort of a liquidy melted glop on top - then sprinkled with what looked like freeze dried basil leaves. Definitely not the quality you would expect from a place that concentrates on pizza. Will not be returning. read more

My fiance and I ended up visiting here in search of a neat little place to have our rehearsal dinner. The food was great (crab fries, shrimp blt, burger and 2 beer samplers), as was the beer we sampled , and all for a great price. The chef even came out to talk to me and my fiance about what we wanted to do for a wedding. This is the first place we've visited that has actually cared about catering to the customers wants and needs. :) Definitely will make this our new hangout spot. read more

This place is amazing. Not sure how some reviewers got the worst food in their lives. I go here often, and get many different things, and they are all amazing. The pizza is to die for. Made fresh and as you order, they have not been sitting around waiting to be bought, like many pizza places. Veggies are fresh, and the tastes are amazing. Burgers, are amazing as well, howbeit, the buns are covered in butter....which apparently is a thing. Tastes good, just hard to eat. Salads I have not tried, but my wife gets them often, and loves them. Recently, they had fried pickles, which they said they are putting on the menu, and I hope they do. Amazing breading, and sauces. Fried onions on the portabella burger is also great. Not tons of breading, but tons of onions. Now, the beer. Well, there is a reason why I go there, and that is for the beer! Great tasting brews, and they change often, not just the same old light golden, IPA, and brown that most breweries stick with. I have loved almost all beers they have created (I do not actually like Wits, or creams, but the wife does, and loves them), and enjoy that they have a wide range of ABVs. Decor is a standard family restaurant. Nothing fancy, but nothing bad. After trying to pick out bad things because I watch Restaurant Impossible often, I could not find a bad thing about this place. Plenty of parking as well. They also have events once and awhile, such as Crab Fests, or special event dinners, which are fun to go to. Service is great. They were slow in the past, but they have improved greatly over the last year. Everyone is friendly and knows about the food and the beer. I recommend this place to everyone I know, and have had family request we eat there anytime they visit!! read more

Argilla just keeps getting better and better. They're still a very new company, and they certainly had some growing pains in their first 18 months or so with occasionally being understaffed and having pretty slow service, but those problems really don't exist anymore. The food has always been top notch (for what it is - this isn't a fancy restaurant), and their new concept of changing up the menu every day gives a welcomed fresh feel. The quality of the beer is excellent, though the styles are sometimes hit-or-miss based on your personal preference. That said, they always have a few guest beers on tap and a nice bottle selection, so if for example you're in the mood for an IPA and they don't currently have any of their own IPAs available then you can still make out just fine. read more

5 star for pizza. Beer was not my favorite, nowhere near it but its getting better. But this is one of the few places around doing pizza right. The dough has depth and flavor, and I wouldn't be surprised if they use a culture and ferment period but I didn't ask. If you are huge pizza fan like I am (I keep my own live yeast culture and make my own dough) you know how bad pizza is in Delaware. But this place gets it right. If it were closer I would be there every week. Also try the fried pickles. I'm new to fried pickles as I'm from the west coast and had never heard of such a thing. But now I've had a ton and these are far and away the best I've had. The interior needs updating so hopefully everyone keeps going so they can afford to expand. Nice atmosphere inside. It is a laudable attempt at a combo brewery-eatery, few of which seem to exist in Delaware. It seems to be popular with the 35-45 crowd. The pizza is OK, but not mind blowing. I was disappointed with the brewery end of it. The nano brewery aspect is nice and means they can try a bunch of different things. However I think they are still working on/perfecting their brewing. The Happy Place American Pale Ale was tasty and very close to a fresh hops beer without being advertised as such. However it was cloudy, from the website most of their beers appear to be this way...and some styles are. Pale ales typically are not. I will admit this is aesthetic and does not always influence the taste. But, it does speak to the level of care and craftsmanship in the brewing. That aside, my main problem was the price of the beer. They do sell growlers, but be careful, a growler is apparently 32 ozs at this place, the bottle deposit is $6 and the refill is $8. Most breweries offering growlers offer 64 oz growlers, deposits are ~$2-3 and refills are between $8 and 12. A little disappointed with the price / quantity. read more

The beer is great for being brewed in house, and the pizza is some of the best in the state. Literally the only thing keeping this place from being a 5 is the hit or miss bar staff. So we just ate here tonight and we started on a bad start. We arrived with two kids and two adults and were told it was going to be 45 minutes. There was no one waiting for a seat except for us. We were confused and somehow seated in 5 minutes. Not sure if they were trying to discourage us because of the kids or the guy is a terrible host or manager. I've worked in plenty of restaurants and knew it wasn't going to take long. We ordered fried pickles and beer to start out with. Beers took long and the fried pickles longer. We ordered the Freddie pizza and salad as well which came out right after the pickles. They were out of arugula for the pizza which we said was ok then somehow the pizza came out afterwards. The pizza was barely warm as well as the pickles which means the food must just sit there waiting for people to serve. The food was good nonetheless, but I prefer my food hot. The atmosphere is pretty dingy too. I saw one person sitting on a folding chair. The live music was a nice touch. Beers were ok, nothing special in today's world of breweries. Would not repeat sadly. Had to come back and add that the prices are outrageous. 10 dollars for fried pickles and 9 dollars for a plain garden salad. Too many places in Wilmington and newark that are cheaper with better food. read more

Argilla Brewing @Pietro's Pizza is a successor to Pietro's Pizza in Pike Creek - the owners wanted to serve beer (which they brew themselves) and needed a larger location. The place looks great - nice, large bar combined with a lot of booth and table seating. Service at the bar was good, although there were a few opening day snafus, no major problems. The four beers on tap were all very good - the amber is probably the best, but I like them all but the cream ale (mostly a matter of taste - I just don't care for the style). The pizza was excellent - nice thin, crispy crusts with good quality ingredients, and pairs well with the beer. Pizza slices came out fast - this would be a good place to go to sit at the bar and have a quick lunch if you work in the area. Definitely a welcome addition to the Delaware beer scene! read more

I typically like this spot for a quick bite and a locally crafted beer but the last few times I have stopped in the bar service has been very poor and un-attentive. During my most recent visit I sat down patiently waiting to be acknowledged and asked what I would like. The bartender ignored me and continued chatting to another customer. She then walked towards me looking straight at me and decided to walk to the front of the restaurant to check out a customer not even acknowledging my presence. After that she decided to walk over to another customer who just walked in and began speaking with them instead of coming back behind the bar. Than thankfully another server entered the bar but as I attempted to catch her attention she cleared the bar of plates and left. I then sat and watched the bartender have a 5 min conversation with guests who did not need service rather than return to the bar. During this time my friend who was joining me sat down and received the same lack of service and noted that it seemed intentional and weird. Frustrated we decided to leave and eat at a different establishment. This lack of service is disappointing since I enjoy the pizza and beer at Argilla's but I will likely thick twice before returning. read more
