My husband and I decided to have a dessert date. After reviewing Yelp, we landed on Argentina Bakery. Wow, were we surprised! As per the other reviews, the options are extensive. Cakes and small bite treats galore. It was so hard to decide, but we landed on a caramel cake. It seemed to me to be Dulce de Leche-ish. It was so moist and delicious. Argentina bakery is so fantastic! You really must try it several times order to appreciate how wonderful the food is. I first tried them when I got a variety of traditional Argentinian cookies for a party. Since then, we have been several times and the food is always delicious and special. Empanadas, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, every bite makes you glad you came and want to return. Most recently, I purchased a cake from the case for a last minute birthday party, and the next week I ordered cupcakes for my daughter's birthday party. I asked for rainbow colored frosting on the cupcakes and asked them to make whatever they wanted to, as I know their food is always just as beautiful as it is delicious. I order a cake for my 13 year old son two weeks in advance, I have to mention that my friends and I go there very often to have breakfast ( really great place all together), long story short, the cake was perfect when I picked up in the morning as agreed( they called at 7:30am to ask me if I remembered what kind of cake was it, flavor etc., I guessed they forgot even tho we had a receipt) when straight home (30 minutes drive) and put the cake on my fridge, at 5:30pm when we got the cake out, it was all bursted( I will supply pics so y'all can see), everybody laughed at me and the cake( WTF!)... I called the bakery and sent pics of the cake, I guy there that answered the phone gave all the excuses he could and at the end toll me to screwed my self and hung the phone on me...big disappointment for a place that I enjoy so much, if it was a mistake in the way they made the cake fine!, just tell me that you'll make another one or gime me a refund, but just don't tell me to screw my self and hung the phone on me like I'm an idiot, I paid &100.00 for a custom order cake...not $25 at Walmart...don't know who answered the phone but I think the owner is a lady that I've seen many times I go there, hope she sees this and make right for my son, my family and me... I'm not expecting anything for free I just expect what right is right... BTW I'm a general contractor and I bend backwards for my customers when something is not right...I hope the owner of this great place have the same ethics. read more

Searching for a basic chocolate cake at night. I open my app to head out for an endeavor. Mind you this is mid-cities and not my side town. So I'm a stranger in foreign lands lol. After driving for couple of minutes I arrive to this local bakery. First thing I noticed was the ethnicity which was Hispanic (nothing wrong with that. Just pointed it out). The vibe as I got in was very pleasant, not overwhelming or loud. Although the line was pretty extensive so I assume the place is popular. The menu and pastries were very accessible to the eye right when I walked in. Looking forward to finally find a chocolate cake didn't find it. I guess was not my night, however. I left with couple of things to try and make my review. I had an assortment of goodies: conitos, manoplas, macaroons and a tres leches. It was ok but nothing that could satisfied my crave. Now I saw some empanadas that look pretty interesting. So I might go back to try them and let ya know. For my chocolate cake I ended up at target. Story of my life. read more

One of my favorite things to do over a decade ago when half price books was still next door was to buy a book and bring it here to read in the comfy chairs with espresso and peligrino. The only independent coffee shop in Irving, and the longest-lived for good reasons! I love all of the pastries that have their house-made dulce de leche, especially the coconut tart. Around breakfast, you need to get some tortitas if they still have them; they're like croissant-roll hybrids, and super cheap 65 cents a pop. The empanadas here are super flaky and make a good snack or light breakfast. I will admit that I don't love all of their desserts and pastries, but it's okay. They serve an important role in Irving and I've gotten so much studying done here over the years! read more

An excellent coffee house that serves many different cold and hot drinks,that, is best known for the beautiful cakes that they make in house. The staff are always very friendly. The best time to get there is just after opening, at 7AM. You should be able to find a good table, the two corner tables have electrical plugs nearby for laptop and phone charge. This place was busy Sunday afternoon. Lots of sweet choices. We decided on the cheesecake and tiramisu for dessert after lunch. The treats were good and hit the spot but were not memorable. We weren't blown away for the price we paid. The portions were generous and tall. The cheesecake was rather plain and just ok. The tiramisu had too much espresso and the cake part was more of a cake-cake rather than lady fingers. Didn't get a chance to try the drinks this time around. read more

I went to this bakery today for an afternoon coffee & snack. It's a nice place to catch up with a friend or to have a informal date. I ordered a Mayan Mocha Latte and a matito (dulce de leche pastry). My fiancé got a beef empanada, ham & cheese empanada and a regular black coffee. The Mayan Mocha was delicious but very sugary. It's a lot like hot chocolate. That paired with the matito was a bit too much sugar/syrup for my liking. The empanadas were good, but I've definitely had better. The crust if buttery and flaky but the filling could use a bit more seasoning. I'd recommend checking out this place. I don't know if it's a regular (at least for me). read more

I got a white chocolate mocha latte and my brother got caramel latte. We both really liked the coffees and felt they had good flavor and were properly sweetened. Ordered 2 each of spinach empanada and ham/cheese pastry. The flaky dough on the spinach empanada was good; I wasn't huge on the spinach/boiled egg filling. The dough on the ham/cheese pastry did not seem cooked all the way on the inside and had a strong sourdough kind of flavor to it. Wasn't huge on that. The biggest disappointment was pulling out a strand of half dark/half grey hair from the ham/cheese croissant we were sharing. We had already eaten more than half the sandwich too. If I go back, it will be only for coffee. My brother was excited about trying one of their cakes, but the excitement quickly disappeared after the hair. read more

After a few very happy visits to this well stocked and beloved Argentina Bakery. I am for sure one of their newest loyal guests. Everything I have bought and tried so far has been top notch. You can just taste the quality ingredients, appreciate the artisan presentation of gourmet desserts, cookies, and empanadas. Their products are made to attract the eye and please the palette. My favorite items so far are the bakeries made from scratch empanadas. The spinach is mild, creamy, and seasoned with sauteed onions/shallots. The ham and cheese is filling, comfort food, yet so tender and delicious. Mine were just a tad too salty last week, just a smidge. The shredded chicken is light. The brisket empanadas are smoky and melt in your mouth delicious. And last but not least, my ultimate favorite favorite, is the ground beef jalapenos empanadas. Oh the nice heat and texture from the beef chile are perfectly paired. The flaky, crispy, hot right out of the oven goodies are $1.90 each or $9.95 for 6 or $20 for a dozen empanadas. Either quantity is going to make you happy. Come early just as they are pulling those protein based meat pie beauties out of the oven. You will drive here just for those babies, I know I do. And it's worth the 15 minutes to get from my area of Dallas by the Bishop Arts District to this 183 Irving Beltline location. Yeah, the 183 is still jacked up, but just think of the yummy stuff at this bakery. It's worth the headache getting here. Oh yeah. Don't let the strip mall look of this bakery throw you. They are making fresh, beautifully, hand crafted cakes, cookies, bars, and treats. Their display case is jam packed with decadent goodies I want to eat all day long. But I am trying to be good and eat less sugar these days. One small, but yummy dessert treat treat a week isn't going to hurt anyone. That's my story, I'm sticking to it. Literally. ;)) So far I have tried the Alfajore cookie. It is a traditional Argentine, Latin America cookie made with a heavy cornstarch to flour blend, sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla round out is composition. Baked and cooled, happy yummy dulce de leche is placed on one side and a second cookie makes a happy sandwich. It is then rolled into unsweeted coconut and served. The delicate butter cornstarch texture just literally melts in your mouth. I could easily eat half a dozen of those and still manage to walk a few steps. They are lightly sweetened and not sticky heavy sugar at all. There are two different sizes of the Alfajores, grande and petite. Today I called to speak with the owner or manager. Nothing bad happened. I was just hoping to thank them for their hard work and effort in keeping their shop open. The young lady who answered the phone mentioned they have been in business for 15 years. WOW! Very impressive. There is so much more they offer, like sandwiches, coffee, and tea. Great little place, went there Saturday around 11:30. Got brisket and bacon empanadas, ham and cheese, spinach and also the beef one. They were all great tasting! We also got an elmo cup cake but that was not good. The frosting/fondant that it had on top had a weird plastic taste to it. My son only liked the bread part of it. This place is poppin even early Saturday morning! It was packed the entire two hours I was there but the line does move quickly. The challenge is picking what delicious pastries you want before its your turn. The glass cases are full of colorful, sugar dusted, chocolate and jam flavored yummies. Many are even less than a dollar! The besitos are popular and I loved the chocolate palmeritas. My favorite was the chicken empanada. Flaky buttery exterior but moist, flavorful interior. Perfection. They're small and less than $2 each so I'd recommend getting a couple for a full meal. The chai latte I tried was good but I wanna come back for the coffee. My co-worker introduced me this place long time ago. I came here after work as I was craving some desserts. It wasn't busy at all when I came in. There are so many desserts to choose from. I want to have something light to satisfy my craving. I saw some desserts that were missing a tag, so I had to ask the staff what they were. The staff explained them as much as she could. I decided to get traditional alfajore and pumpkin dessert (the staff couldn't even know what it was and referred as a pumpkin stuff). Both are really good. I like alfajore in general. It was nice size and not too sweet. A pumpkin dessert was very tasty. I was actually glad I got it. It was moist on top but crunchy the bottom. It wasn't too sweet but still enough sweetness. The prices are reasonable. The service was okay, and the staff was nice. It's located in the convince area. Ample parking. I would come back here when I crave some tasty sweets. read more

The quality of the empanadas are not the same -- just very inconsistent. The service is poor -- not only were they slow, but they were not very attentive and welcoming. Pretty disappointing.
