We stopped for lunch, it wasn't busy or crowded, and there's plenty of seating. Our waiter let us know that on Fridays and Saturdays, they have a lively evening with a band if we were interested in that. He also mentioned the margaritas were good. Casa Vieja is a Colombian cuisine restaurant. I'm not too familiar with the dishes, so I opted for the mini Bandera Paisa, which is a traditional dish consisting of pork skin, sausage, sweet plantain, fried egg, thin steak, corn cake, red beans, white rice, and avocado. Not sure how this was the mini dish, but everything was so good. The food was well seasoned and not overly greasy or heavy. My request for spice was delivered with 2 salsas and grilled serranos. My beverage of choice was a mango juice, very refreshing, and the natural sweetness was complementary to my savory dish. I wish I had room for dessert, but this just gives me more of an incentive to return. Happy with the entire experience, if you haven't been, stop by!

(truck menu was very abbreviated, but restaurant menu is very expansive.) SERVICE: Very nice and patient, as i was staring at the menu and watching their prep video, which was actually great - for a while, but not standing in line, per se. AMBIANCE: Friday night was almost perfect weather (windy)! Plenty of people and dog-friendly patrons abound! A Guitar trio was playing classici rock upon arriving into the Yard. (Sorry, this is leading into a review for The Truck Yard.) NOTES: I didn't realize that this was an "Urban Venezuelan Kitchen" - what a great surprise! I'm certainly planning on visiting their establishment soon!

According to Sarah, this one won a Dallas award for best Cuban. - See photo. I have had more than a few Cuban sandwiches in my life, and this one is absolutely top tier. I found the spot on Yelp and we headed over right after a trip to the DMV. We definitely deserved a treat after that. We ordered two sandwiches to split, the shredded beef and the original Cuban. They offer several variations of Cubans..., including one with mortadella that I am already planning to try next time. I will admit, in the review photos the sandwiches might not look pressed or buttered enough. Trust the process. The bread was perfection. I am very particular about grilled sandwiches being truly grilled and fully heated through, and these ladies know exactly what they are doing. The original Cuban was perfectly balanced and a rock solid classic. The shredded beef was - (Meat prep courtesy of Sarah) a delightful surprise, slightly sweet and savory and incredibly flavorful and texture. Just really, really good. We also got a bag of plantain chips, and I respect that those are the only chips they offer. No generic bagged Lays here. Plantain chips or nothin' - I like it!!! There is also a display case full of beautiful baked treats made by Rita. After sandwiches at that level, there was no way we were leaving without dessert. We took three to go: a meringue filled with dulce de leche, which was a total sleeper hit, a guava and cheese pastry, and a dulce Napoleon. Every bite felt special. The inside is authentic and charming, though the tables are a bit tight. I cannot wait to go back.

I have no idea where I first heard about this place, but I'm so glad I found it…read more Right after we ordered, the server brought over what looked like simple grilled pieces of bread. I was trying to save room for the main course, but there was something so delicious about those unassuming little bites. They were warm, slightly crisp, and completely addictive. We came specifically for the lunch specials, and they did not disappoint. I had my eye on the Piccadilly, a flavorful mix of ground meat with spices, potatoes, and what I believe were raisins and olives. It comes with white rice and black beans, but you can have them mixed together, which is absolutely the way to go. The combination of savory and slightly sweet flavors was fantastic. My only small wish is that it came with a few more sweet plantains on the side. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich, which comes with a side. We chose fries and iced tea, and they generously brought us BOTH large iced teas. The sandwich itself was huge, easily big enough to take half home. It was perfectly grilled, warm, and melty. If I could change one thing, it would be to make the bread a bit smaller while keeping all that delicious filling. This place is also a great value. Definitely worth stopping by and checking out.
