I just had a call order for two salads and a sandwich. I specifically said no onion, and the boy taking my order was to be sure I said no onion and chips with the sandwich. We came to pick up, and it was a fine exchange, but once I got to my destination, there were no chips in the bag, which I was not Ok with, but the first and only bite I took was he sandwich, which had onions, and I can't stand onions. This is not the first time with the go orders for this location. I was hoping it was a one-time issue, but it's not, so we will have to rethink my order options. read more

This place is legit! Found on a cure street in a great location they are simple but excellent. Super clean / newish restaurant and a great find for what may be the best pizza in El Paso. They offered friendly & fast service. We went for the pizza - sort of what they are known for. We went for a large pep cause we are old school and a medium "Woody." So after several orders our salads continue to be less than appetizing! Lettuce is wilted. Moldy leaves. Yellow white romaine pieces and mushy olives. Will not be returning after many many years of enjoying Ardovinos pizza. Also the pizza as pictured is very burnt!!!! Very dry!!!! Our experience last week at this location (Substation on Sunset) was appallingly awful. Arriving at 6:30 pm to a half-empty restaurant, we were able to request outdoor seating on a beautiful Monday evening. Our go-to pizza place, Cafe Italia, on N. Mesa is now closed on Mondays disappointingly, as we enjoy bringing our own wine there. Nonetheless, we have enjoyed Ardovinos for over 40 years in other locations, like Cincinatti St. and more recently, Resler. Our troubles began after we were seated and provided water. That was the end of the service that night. End of story. Water. As we waited indefinitely, the restaurant became full of patrons. After over a half hour, we began wondering of we were going to receive our check eventually (for our water). Sadly, I was encouraged by my guests (yes--they were my unintended guests, because we usually split the check with these friends) to go inside to see if I could encourage the manager to assign a server to to our table, I was dismayed that there was no manager on duty that anyone could find. Eventually, I found a server who agreed that she would take our order, and apologized that they were so busy. I insisted they weren't busy when we arrived, Shortly our orders were taken and within a reasonable amount of time after that, not too long, our dinners arrived and they were delicious and perfect, as usual. No problems with the kitchen. After being served, I'm uncertain if we ever saw another servers, nor could we figure out which, if any, server, was assigned to our table. Eventually, when we were falling asleep at our table, again, I was designated as the one who had to go ask for the check. Shortly (another) server brought the check and before he could disappear for another 1/2 hour, I insisted he wait for us to grab our credit cards so we could split the check 50/50. Shortly, yet another server came back with the check split 50/50, on two credit card receipts, mine placed in in the black plastic folio with my credit card, and another receipt and his credit card placed in another folding black folio, placed in front of him. Upon inspecting the contents of the folios, we discovered 1/2 the check was charged to me on the receipt placed in front of me (on my credit card) and 1/2 the check was ALSO charged to my credit cad on the receipt placed in front of my friend. Rather than waiting indefinitely to catch the attention of a server (i.e. not our server, because we never knew who our server was), or walk around the restaurant to see if a manager ever showed up that night, I paid both 1/2's on my car and my friend agreed to buy us dinner next time. I accepted his settlement offer under one condition, he would have to treat us to dinner next time ANYWHERE EXCEPT ARDOVINO's ON SUNSET. I've shared my opinion about hundreds of less-than-acceptable experiences and invariably, the thing most of them share in common boiild down the to absence (either physically or cognitively) of a capable manager being on duty. Left to their own devices without supervision, sadly, inexperienced and incapable servers will ruin the reputation of a restaurant their owners spend decades building. My personal opinion is if a manager calls in sick, the owner should close the restaurant for the evening rather than putting their customers through a frustrating experience like ours and survive to see the next day with an intact reputation. read more

OMG yum! Ardovino's has some legit pizza in the 915. They have a few locations around town. This is the one we usually go to. We've also gone to the ones on Cincinnati and Zaragoza. No complaints at those locations, either. Their pizzas are on the thinner, crunchier side, which I don't mind sometimes. Yes, I also like my pizza thick but I have no complaints here. Me and the bf used to make it a date night (or day) back when things were normal. I enjoy their pepperoni pizzas. I just like them simple and basic. I've also tried their salads and they're also pretty good. The ingredients are always fresh and of good quality. This goes for their pizzas as well. The prices for me are pretty reasonable too. I think we spend an average of $25-30 which is decent to me. I have not tried anything else aside from the pizzas and salads. I wouldn't mind trying their sandwiches sometime soon. I once got invited to a baby shower at this location but I didn't go. It looks like it would be a great spot to host special occasions. I don't know if they're offering that right now. From personal pizzas, meatballs, and beer/wine at prices, their HH won't break the bank. After working all day at our new El Paso casa; aptly named our "Southwest Sanctuary", we were hungry and too wiped out to cook. We decided to give this pizza place a go. We are always looking for a good slice of pizza! They have a large selection of beer and wine. The menu is adequate for pizza and sandwiches. The place is quite small, and to avoid having to sit in a corner two top, we opted to sit at the bar. The service was very friendly and efficient. We ordered a pizza, and it came out fairly quickly. It was thin crust, and I do say it was tasty. Was it our favorite El Paso pizza we've had? No, but they do have table/server service instead of ordering at the counter. We'd go back if we wanted a bit of a "step up" in ambiance, but we still feel that Forma's Pizza, and The Pizza Joint offer better pizza. Where do I start? I moved to the area about two years ago and heard good things about this place. I had to try it. Major disappointment. Wrote it off and moved on. So much good food in El Paso, no need to dwell on a bad meal. Fast forward two years. Locals still ranking them pretty highly. Was it a bad night? Was I too critical? Decided to try it again. By far our Favorite Pizza place. We Love, Love, the Garden Greens Salad and Joanna's Pizza. We like to go either the Original place in Kern area, it is our most favorite location, it has that Rustic Italian Yibe to it. 2nd favorite is at the Substation, really enjoy the indoor/outdoor patio area and a Male server there, who is super Funny and attentive. My Brother really enjoys the the Kern location, he says it transports him to a little place in Italy has he orders his favorite, Marguerita Pizza, he love loves the Thin crust, the red sauce with fresh Tomatoes and Basil leaves and the Perfect amount of cheese. As for my husband and I, as I mentioned above, Joanna's is our Favorite, we just make some changes, I am not a fan of tomato, so we ask to substitute with Roasted Red peppers and Artichokes and rest of original ingredients blend very well with our add on items, it arrives piping hot and with just right amount of izzy melted mozzarella cheese on a thin crust with pesto sauce to make your mouth water, yumm. Nice glass Red wine or cold Beer, oh la la what a Perfect meal with Loved ones. Just Good Food and Great company. You have to be adventurous and come south of 10 and there is a complex of top shelf new complex that is very nice. Ardovino's is first class interior with a jazzy vibe. Super service. Pizza was burned. Grill was not cleaned and it left food flakes on the pizza. Was never seen by a server after food was delivered. Seating took 10 minutes for a table of three when there was no one there and the food took a whole hour to get there. I get to El Paso quite often and have eaten at other Ardovino's locations several times. This was my first experience at this location. Last night I dined here with friends. For starters, I ordered a draft IPA and was brought a porter. The problem was easily remedied and the beverage waiter brought me another beer. Then we ordered a large pizza and a large salad to share. When the pizza arrived, it was seriously lacking in cheese. None of us had eaten all day so we started eating. The crust was great, the sauce was good, the toppings were adequate, but there was hardly any cheese. Our waiter returned after a bit and asked how our order was. We commented on the obvious lack of cheese and the waiter was quick to offer another pizza. Given that we had already eaten half of the pizza we declined. I know that inflation has caused businesses to increase prices, but cutting back on ingredients, thereby compromising quality certainly won't encourage patrons to return--that's typically how I cast my vote for any eating establishment. read more

Ardovinos Pizza is a delightful spot with fabulous food, great service and a friendly atmosphere. We ordered the diablo pizza, wedge salad, turkey pesto sandwich and the meatball appetizer and everything was great. The diablo pizza has chicken on it and has a bit of a kick to it, the crust was thin and crispy and it was a very flavorful. The meatballs were very good, there are 3 to an order and reasonably priced. The sauce was delicious. Service and atmosphere is wonderful and it's great for everyone: singles, dates, families or groups! Also, has an excellent wine and beer selection. My kids that live in Phoenix and Dallas could not believe the great quality for such reasonable prices. Our first time here and while it was good I didn't think it was great, mainly because the pizza crust was too thin, it was crunchy like a cracker and I prefer it a bit chewy. My hubby ordered a spicy roast beef sandwich and said it was really good with a nice little kick but not too spicy. Dessert was great, cannoli and a brownie and they were both tasty. Founded in 1961 in El Paso as an Italian food mart, Ardovino's pizza has grown to be a juggernaut in the El Paso food scene, with 5 restaurants all across the borderland. I've now visited two locations, and this newest location right across from the Kitchen at 150 Sunset doesn't disappoint. Before you walk in, on the left is a nice fire pit with comfy chairs around it. Walking in, you see the familiar red tablecloths and the huge wall of wine bottles. There is a wide variety of seating, from high tables and chairs near the bar to booths and tables. My favorite part of the restaurant however is the patio/room that is flanked by transparent garage doors that are opened when the weather is mild, perfect for those summer nights. The ambiance is set by dimmed incandescent lightbulbs that stream over your head. The salads here are phenomenal, but the real star is of course the pizza. They have a wide variety of speciality pizzas and toppings, from arugula to prosciutto, and their crust is one of the best thin crusts I've had ever. Service is good, and the pizzas and salads come out extremely quick; the restaurant was completely full and our two large pizzas came out in under 10 minutes. Pro tip: if you want half and half pizzas, you can totally order them! I also ordered a beer, and our server brought it to me in under 1 minute, I kid you not. With the advent of fast casual pizza places, like Pieology, and fast food pizza, places like this are somewhat of a splurge. In this case, however, the price increase is totally worth it. The art of Takeout is at the fore in these days of the Pandemic. More than ever before people are ordering takeout to stay safe and healthy. More than ever before restaurants must step up and make sure the customer's order is right. There is nothing more annoying and dissatisfying than getting home and be missing part of your order. No one wants to get back into their car and drive back to the restaurant to pick up or swap out or remake whatever the restaurant screwed up. But, mistakes do happen. And when they do, the restaurant must step up and make it right. It is rarely convenient and often impossible for the customer to run back to the restaurant; dinner is getting cold, everyone else is eating, a minimum 30 minute trip isn't in the book. It is here where the restaurant has to step up and make the customer happy. Tough job. But they have to try, have to do something. Well not Ardovinos. Obviously they're too special, too "in demand". "I'm sorry". That was it. No offers, no free desert, bread stick, pack of chips. Nada, zip, zilch. Yes, your special sauce, that which makes your 10 dollar beef sandwich special, is sitting right here, come and get it, I'm not offering you squat! So I had my sandwich with Dijon mustard wand a side of grump. And, I'll find somewhere else to get my next sandwich, there's plenty out there to choose from. read more

Usually Ardovinos is a solid bet. This place isn't bad - if you eat in. But their carry out service is atrocious. It's like they assigned the crappiest workers to man the carry out. Like Joe Pesci said in Lethal Weapon .... they f*ck you in the drive thru. Seriously. It's like this place sends their carry out employees to Joe Pesci's worst nightmare for training. Morons. No napkins. No plates. Jacked the order up. So pretty much ... they f*cked us. Nice job asshats. Good things the food they did sell us (despite being completely wrong) was edible.
