Been coming here for years. Normally, it's good, but this time the sauce was too sweet. Not the right amount of garlic or spices in the sauce also. I also got a tiramisu for my sweetheart To Go. He and I shared it for our afternoon snack and it tasted terrible. He said to me this mascarpone tastes sour, & too much expresso & kahlua. Tasted bad to me also. It was spoiled. Como's is an old standby that continues to deliver constient good Italian fare after a half a century. Be advised, it's a family joint. Not fine dining, the staff are college kids doing their best and the dining rooms lack modern flashy decor, but the team is the kitchen is well trained and supervised, and the ingredients are carefully watched by a caring owner. Also, Como's cooks the kind of Italian dishes that Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin were raised on. Dark robust sauces, no skimping on the herbs or garlic, no "Modern Italian lite" fare in sight. This is robust and substantial food in large portions; have half now and enjoy the leftovers tomorrow. If you don't appreciate what Como's is offering, please leave it to those of us that do. read more

Price change with no Notice. I will start by saying the food is very good (I will not lie), HOWEVER, beware of price changes without notice. I ordered pick up - two meals for lunch. Veal Cutlet Parmagiana which was 14.95, good price for a lunch, then I ordered Chicken Marsala (again not badly priced at 14.50) for lunch.... However, when I went to pick it up, I was charged 21.95 for the chicken marsala, when I asked them why the very different price, they claimed that price had changed and they could not update it on their website. I think that was a very bad excuse for not honoring the price online. They lost a loyal customer for 7.45. It's not that I could not afford the price difference, but on principal alone, you make good on your advertisement. We came here as a big party to celebrate Mother's Day and were very surprised and pleased with how quickly we were sat. Unfortunately, things went south from there. They place is not very big inside, yet, no one bothered to take our drink orders for about 10 minutes, even though plenty of employees passed our table and could probably see that we were visibly annoyed from waiting around. It wasn't until I got up and asked the hostess if we could be waited on, that she sent a bus boy to begrudgingly take our drink order. He was obviously out of his element at that point. Our server finally arrived after waiting several more minutes. Then, after waiting even longer, we finally got our food. The meals were decent. Most of my party ordered the Chicken Parmesan and from what they said, they were prepared well and tasted good. I had the Chicken Jerusalem which was swimming in sauce, mushrooms, and artichokes. It was a good dish but I think they could use a thicker sauce and less of it. Just enough to cover some of the chicken without having to drown it in the sorrows of what could have been a better experience. I've been coming to Como's since at least the 1980's, and it never disappoints. It has a huge dining room but somehow it has a cosy atmosphere. It's the perfect place to take your out-of-town family or friends. The menu is vast with everything from pasta dishes and pizza to chicken and fish specialties. There's even steak. I ordered the full order of spaghetti and meat sauce. The salad was fresh and delish, with an Italian dressing that was flavorful. As for the main dish, let me just say the portion size is huge, enough for two. But if you're like me, you're not gonna want to share. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce is so good! For dessert I chose the chocolate mousse. It was rich and decadent. I could have used a triple serving, that's how good it was. All in all, prices are reasonable and service was great! read more

I ordered a combination pizza and a Choice of pasta, sauce, topping and salad dinner. I had the food delivered by GrubHub which got here within 45 minutes. At first look the pizza seemed extremely small to me for a $20 plus pizza. There were no utensils for me to eat my meal with and no napkins. Once I took a bite out of the pizza the toppings didn't seem to be cooked, more or less just warmed up and placed on the pie. There wasn't that much cheese on the pie and the bread is probably some of the worst crust I've ever had. No flavor, over cooked bread. So I decided to eat my custom pasta, sauce, topping and salad. The pasta was done well, it's a basic angel hair pasta. The meat sauce was decent at best I'd give it three out of five stars, I also got meatballs as my topping. Just like the pizza crust on the combination pizza this is probably been the worst meatball I have ever had. Honestly the majority of the meal really just has no flavor. The bread is plain, the salad was half assed, the pasta is basic, the sauce it's mediocre, and I would've been better off if I had not eaten the meat balls. For whatever reasons, this is not a restaurant that we frequent but that might change after my last impromptu visit. I was needing to pass the time and decided to treat myself to a nice lunch. I ordered the half pasta with mushrooms and meat sauce and upgraded my salad. My serving size was huge and the food was so fresh and tasty. The sauce was clearly homemade and the mushrooms were huge! Last night was my first time ordering/dining here.. the service was attentive but slow soup was (heat) hot as it should be. Our meals arrived hot and tasty.. after 2 bites of mine I asked my partner "does this tomato sauce taste burnt?" And that it was.. that answered the question why the 2 men at another table returned their food as I did.. My question is if the server / kitchen knew the sauce was burnt, why serve it?? I'm not naive in thinking that El Paso is some type of foodie haven, and as I expand my experiences outward, its glaringly obvious to me that local versions of ethnic staples are profoundly abysmal in quality. The city's primary example is this restaurant, Como's, which has been consistently rated as the top Italian joint for several years. If local rival Cappetto's is Italy's Giacomo Puccini, then this place is Tennessee's Rascal Flatts. What was supposed to have been a very basic meal, turned out to be a crucible in dining. When the server finally decided that HE was ready to take our orders, I asked for the spaghetti with meat balls and a dinner salad. On the salad, I wanted olive oil and a side of lemon. This seemed absurd to him, but he agreed. I was pretty amused to find out that the absurdity was in the fact that the salad consisted of wet iceberg lettuce, which, in fact, tastes like garbage combined with olive oil, salt, and lemon. I guess I expected something a bit more creative from El Paso's "numero uno" Italian spot. The spaghetti with meatballs were hardly any better. Actually, i think the dish was worse than the salad. The sauce tasted very much like watery Ragu, like they were trying to make the sauce stretch for the rest of the evening, and the meatballs were burnt and hardened so that you couldn't eat a single one all the way through. The chianti was the only thing worth rating as a positive although it was served in a water-spotted carafe. I truly feel for El Paso for what passes as suitable dining in this city. read more

I went in with my family of 3 to dine in after lunch rush. Restaurant was half empty and I was offered the only table by the door, which was windy and cold outside and you could feel it when door would open. I asked for different table and hostess/cashier told me that was all they had available that other tables where for larger parties (again restaurant was half empty). I had to leave as I wasn't going to sit my 6 year old by the door knowing that there were at least half of the restaurant tables available. My wife and I went yesterday to Como's restaurant. We enjoy eating the Baked chicken with mushrooms. and one of the pizzas when we order, we order half a pepperoni and half sausage pizza. The young lady cleaning tables was very fast and gracious. We were sat down, but it took forever. For the waiter to take orders, we ordered the Baked chicken and half-and-half pizza We waited and waited, and I asked why haven't they brought her salad finally, they brought the salad and a pizza almost together but it was half pepperoni and half cheese no sausage at all. I send it back and waited a while for them to bring it back and the pizza was delicious. When we were sure of the chicken, the chicken was burnt in one side and I had asked that I did not want the garlic and it did have garlic, not much, but it did have garlic. It was delicious. Also, I kept on trying to get the waiter because the chicken normally comes with an order of spaghetti. Yes, the kid that was cleaning tables and he said. did it didn't come with it, but I asked him for the menu and showed him that it does come with spaghetti by the time the waiter came we were ready to go. The food is delicious, but the waiter. I didn't get his name, but he's the only bold person needs to put a little more effort in taking care of the customers and by the way, my wife ordered a regular tea and when the helpers Give her a refill they gave her a sweet tea instead of the regular one and she put sugar on it so it was super sweet and couldn't drink it so we I didn't have any luck at Como's this time around, whereas we normally enjoy eating there The waiter again needs to take more time and listen to what people order thank you read more

So disappointed, this was my cheat meal and they just ruined my whole week. I dont know how they got 3 stars cause I mean, I really had the bar set low when I ordered here given lack of real Italian restaurants here but damn, it was one of the worst foods that I have ever eaten, so pissed off I spent 51 bucks on crap, they make olive garden seem gourmet. Went in on November 2 for my birthday because my daughter is vegan and she can actually eat there showed up about 6:30 in the evening and tables were dirty, the side door to the kitchen was open next to the dumpster- and we didn't even get a waiter to greet us for about 20 minutes when we arrived... this was a simple during the week visit to celebrate my birthday and they couldn't even service us, as soon as we sat down and asked them if they could get my daughter her food by 8 o'clock as we had already been sitting for 30 minutes they told us it "depends"...so we just got up and walked out the restaurant, seem dirty, server didn't even introduce herself... it almost seem like we were bothering them being there, it's unfortunate because this is a well-established restaurant, I would've expected more. read more

Ate here for my daughter's BDay. 2 folks in our foursome always opt for the pizza and veal piccata. They love it. My daughter had the orange roughy -lots of lemon and garlic. It was quickly gone.
