The only thing I recommend from this place is the pizza, I went on Saturday to try the Chicken Alfredo and the pizza, and the chicken or the Alfredo pasta had NO flavor whatsoever, I went again the following Monday because I wanted to try the Chicken Parm and again, only amazed by the pizza but the spaghetti or the chicken had noooooo flavor, I was so sad tbh, not worth the cost of it, it's also not white meat, I think that's very important too... I don't frequent Italian spots as much simply because I try to minimize my carb intake. However, I treated my mom to lunch and she loves Italian. Plus, this had been on my local list to try for a very long time. Overall it was meh for me. The service was borderline aggressive and in such a hurry they hardly made eye contact. The food was what I would expect, heavy on the salt, sugar, and oversauced. I didn't see any options on the lunch menu for a lemon based sauce which is my usual go to. I wonder if they make their own pasta in house? The bread, salad, coffee, and tiramisu were good. I would have rather gone to Olive Garden. We wanted Italian and my husband found this spot. When we got there everything seemed really quaint and authentic, very mom & pop vibe. We got seated, ordered an app of meatballs (which came out fast) and told the waitress we just needed a few more minutes to look at the menu. She walked by multiple times and still it took almost 20min for her to come back for our order. We both ordered the chicken parm from the lunch menu ( we got there at 1pm and the lunch went until 3pm). Neither of us wanted the spaghetti on the side so the waitress told us what we could substitute it with. We both went with Alfredo. First we got our salads, which weren't terrible but also wasn't very fresh (The lettuce was wilted). When the rest of the food finally came out, we were shocked by the amount of food. One order of chicken parm had 2 chicken parm cutlets and the side of pasta. Which she brought us the spaghetti instead of the alternative that she literally offered us. At this point we'd been waiting for so long to both order and get the food that we were just gonna deal with it and have the spaghetti. The food was fine but nothing special. Then we get the check and my husband immediately hands her the card so we can get going. After paying we looked at the receipt and saw she placed our order for the dinner portion (now makes sense why there was so much food). It has been four or five years since our last time there because the service was so horrible. We decided to give it a second chance and we're disappointed once again I ordered the lunch eggplant parmesan and it was covered with a small piece of cheese on the top. Pre sliced piece of cheese not impressive. The temperature was good but lacked flavor. It came with the side salad and when I put the dressing on all I could taste was oil. The bread that they served us 15 minutes after they served her meal was stale and hard. We asked the girl who was a manager to bring us some crackers. I was there with a good friend. I ordered rigatoni , a salad and a beer. My friend ordered Alfredo, a salad and water. My tab was $86. When I got home I noticed they had charged me all of the above, plus lasagna and two teas. I called to complain and was told that they would review the cameras! I got a call back and they verified no lasagna but we each had tea! They ask me to come in and get a cash refund as they don't credit the card! They tried to pay me the price of the lasagna and one tea! What about the other tea and the tax? I kept hearing about this place so decided to try it. My girl and I decided to go last week, was not busy, so that was in the +Plus column. However, I quickly could see why. I asked the waitress what the specials were, she pushed the Bruschetta. I asked if she could tell me what they put on their version (every restaurant does it a little differently). I got some generic answer that told me she really did not know. I ordered the Eggplant Parm, and I swear it came out of a microwave, right down the black plastic tray it was served in. Right as you walk into this place, you can tell they host a hole-in-the-wall space that's about the size of a luxurious studio apartment. And, I know...I'm being extremely generous here. I felt like I was experiencing some serious claustrophobia heading back to the restrooms. I'd sure hate to see what would happen in the event of a fire. All joking aside though, this Italian Kitchen (see what I did there?) is quaint enough for what they serve. But there are a few quirks I'd like to discuss. Before we do that though.. First, the good: I was surprised at how tasty their complementary house salad was. It's clear the salad dressing is homemade. I also appreciate the fact that it's light, subtle, yet still not stoic in taste. Basically, I liked it. And believe me, plenty of other restaurants have made salads I don't care for. So, today I ordered a pizza. And....I gotta be honest, it was average. Not the best pizza I've had, but certainly not the worst. I mean, it's fine for what it is....I guess? But this is an authentic Italian restaurant, is it not? I don't think pizza should have crust that resembles the pizza from a gas station with cheese that comes off like the kind served in the school cafeteria. It tasted alright, but it lacked consistency. I...don't know how else to explain it. One caveat I would throw out there: do not come to this place if you're in a hurry. Because despite this restaurant's modesty in size (they look like they could occupy about 30 persons), the service is that of a snail's pace. I waited nearly 30 minutes...for PIZZA! Some of the best brick oven pizza I've ever had takes about...15 minutes at best. But all together, I think I was there just barely over an hour. It pissed me off because I was trying to get to my son's football game and I just assumed I'd be there a little more than 30 minutes or so. My bad, I guess. Look, I'm not saying this place is totally middle of the road. Admittedly, I only ordered one dish here and I hope that if I'm in the neighborhood again and have an inordinate amount of time to kill, I'll come back and try the pasta. Upon initial review however, I can tell you the service is anemically slow, the pizza resembles something that came from a Stouffer's box, the salads are nice, the wine is affordable, and the interior of the restaurant has a strange and cramp setup. It's one of those places where upon receipt of the check, you have to get up from the table and pay at the register (assuming you can find it at first). It's awkwardly located near the back where the kitchen entrance and restrooms are. Plus, there's not even a desk facing inwards as you would expect from most places. Looks as though whoever said this place feels like walking into someone's living room was totally accurate; take that for better or for worse. The lasagna was edible, not great. The spaghetti had a funny smell and tasted weird. Please see the photo for the Bruschetta, thats not Bruschetta. That tasted gross. Nice size menu. Cozy spot, various seating areas, service was pretty fast to seat us and bring salad. So far so good. Antipasto salad was delicious. Dinner took a while to come out but they were pretty busy and backed up, they did apologize and notify us. No Pinot noir if you're a wine drinker. There were some flies dead next to us and alive but I won't remove a star because of this since we were sitting next to the door and the food was amazing flies are part of nature and are a pest that's hard to keep out but they could check in to pick up any dead flies time to time. The lady serving us was very nice. They are pretty busy we came on a Friday for dinner. I had the green chili lasagna and husband had veil Parmesan. Both dishes were amazing ! I felt like I found another less-known gem in El Paso. It's definitely a neighborhood restaurant. Food has the distinct home cooked feel to it. After all, it's housed in a converted residence with two dining areas. One looks like a smaller bedroom and the other looks like a combination of living and dining rooms. It's very cozy. When we visited, there were at least four families and two couples having a dinner. Our server was excellent. She was friendly, courteous and efficient. Our drinks came out fast, and our food came out very fast even though it was sort of busy with dinner crowd--some large family dinner parties. Serving size comes in either full or half. I ordered a full order of spaghetti with meat sauce (photo). It first looked enormous and probably it was, but I was so hungry I finished the whole thing, and it was very good! I was looking around the dining room and saw some enormous serving of salads and pasta dishes. You can add some protein with your pasta. The fettuccine Alfredo I saw had a huge piece of chicken on it. I'd say in general the serving size is very generous here yet the price is very reasonable. For instance, my large spaghetti with meat sauce was only $9.95 with garlic toast. Since it's a la carte menu, if you want to add anything else to your pasta, I'd recommend to make it a dinner for additional $6.95. It'll come with soup, salad, bread and spumoni. What a deal, but you must come here with very good appetite since the serving size is huge. The only challenge I could think of is parking. Immediate street parking is very limited. I think it's almost impossible when it's crowded. There's a parking in the back, but you have to get in from the back alley. Unless you know it's there, you might have a difficult time locating it. The spaghetti with sausage turned out to be crumbled sausage in the sauce, which was a lil disappointing. there was too little sausage to even taste. i liked that the noodles were still al dente when i ate it like an hour after picking it up. the sauce was nice and garlicky, but so salty that it kinda killed my appetite. the full order is $12 and it is a massive portion. had a bite of my gf's chicken parm $15 and it was pretty good. 5 Stars of course I come here often. Growing up in El Paso my parents would bring me and my siblings. As a child, the bathroom would creep me out. But as an adult I've grown to appreciate the bathroom. This old establishment looks like a house. The history, so much history here. The owners have run this place for years. To me, this is one of the fewest places that makes real Italian food. Yes one of the owners was Italian. The other was Hispanic. So you see a mix. I went to Italy a few years back and I was in awe that some of the dishes here had a similar presentation and taste. Kudos to them for being somewhat authentic. My suggestion, try the dinner! It comes with a house salad, soup, main entree and then dessert! So so so good! The staff are so nice. You can't go wrong in coming here. Everything is delicious. Last night was the first time I was truly disappointed in this restaurant and I have been coming here for over 20 years. The food was bland and the service was terrible. The waitress made our experience bad. My son spilled his drink and it spilled all over me. No biggie. Accidents happen. However, she took wet cloths to pick it up and didn't get the sides of the tablecloth. My pants were wet and she left the towels on the floor at my feet, smelling like bleach. She didn't offer a replacement drink but when the check came, you better believe the charge for the drink was there. She was inattentive and took forever. She made sure to add the gratuity of 18% to the bill even though we were only 5. I am now reluctant to return. I hope they read this review and use it to improve. read more
