If you're looking for a truly unique dining experience in El Paso, this place is a must. From the moment you walk in, you can tell it's something special. The restaurant is made up of individually themed rooms, each with its own personality, and the stories about the building's legendary hauntings only add to the charm. Our servers even shared some of the history, making the evening feel like more than just dinner. We sat in the casino room this visit and look forward to sitting in one of the other rooms next visit. The room was intimate and interesting but also allowed us to have a cozy meal with conversation. The food was outstanding. You can taste that the pasta is made to order and that the sauces are authentic and prepared with care. My friend and I shared the pasta nachos, lasagna, cheese ravioli, and chicken Parmesan, and every single dish was excellent. We somehow still found room for dessert and enjoyed the cheesecake, Mrs. B's strawberry cake w spumoni ice cream. The sauces were incredible and all was so fresh. What impressed me most, though, was the hospitality. This is a true family restaurant, and you can feel it. The service was exceptional, not just from our server, but from several members of the staff who stopped by to introduce themselves, check on us, and genuinely make us feel welcome. The pacing of the meal was perfect. We had heard about the famous singing waiter, but unfortunately was out sick. Even so, they surprised us by arranging a special serenade over the phone, despite the fact that we hadn't even ordered the pizza that usually comes with the performance of "That's Amore". It was such a thoughtful touch and perfectly reflects the heart of this restaurant. In a world where so many restaurants feel alike, this place is a rare gem in Central El Paso. First time here. Not sure how we missed this place, but apparently they have been open 23 years. Ambiance: cool place. Lots to look at. Supposedly haunted, although we didn't see anything. Food: we didn't get any photos, but the food was excellent! I had the lasagna and my husband had the baked rigatoni. By far the best in town, since Bella Napoli's closed years ago. ( I have to say, it was close to mine,but not quite as good ). We have to go back and try the fettuccine. There was a lot on the menu we will go back and try.. Service: Excellent customer service. The staff was very good, you will not be disappointed! Everyone was friendly and spent time explaining the items. We've been searching for good, authentic Italian food ever since our local favorite restaurant closed several years ago. We don't often come to El Paso, but found this place on the internet and it sounded pretty good. Several in our party ordered lasagne, and it was just very basic without any real flavor. Very disappointing! The chicken alfredo was served with only a very small, single piece of chicken on some fettucine noodles. We were offered an additional piece of chicken for $3.00? I was super optimistic to try Monteleone's as it is talked about all over El Paso. Unfortunately our experience was terrible and I never plan to go back. The place is cool. It has a cool ambiance, creepy lights and rooms. However, we waited in the front where it says please wait to be seated for about 40 min. When we walked in and the whole time we waited there were open tables available. At one point a waiter came to ask how many people we had, which was only 2, and then he walked away and didn't seat us. Eventually someone sat us down in the empty table that had been empty since we arrived. When we finally ordered they came back to say they were out of soup so we had to have salad. We got our salads but there were no silverware so we asked for silverware. It took about 10 min for the waitress to bring silverware so we sat there with our salads just looking at them. Finally our dinner arrived- we both ordered the chicken parmigiana. It was the worse chicken parmigiana I have ever had. It wasn't breaded and the chicken was tough and dry. It tasted like it was microwaved. The spaghetti was super watery and gross. Overall the wait took forever and the food sucked. We commented to the waitress that the chicken was bad and she did only charge us a minimal amount for the spaghetti and took the chicken part off, but it didn't make up for the bad experience. read more

We really enjoyed the food! My husband got the trio of calzones and boy they were tasty. We brought a small cooler and beer for my husband, as they are working on their alchohol sales. You can bring your own drinks, and they provided cold cups for him to enjoy his beers! My kids pizzas were so good! This little hole in the wall Italian restaurant is an experience worth embarking on! There is parking in the back of the restaurant (or theres usually space on the street to the side of it)! If you aren't paying attention, you'll drive right by it because it. However, once you see it you can't unsee it! I got the cheese ravioli & it was good! It may have needed a little salt, but the cheese inside was delicious & the serving size was perfect. Inside, it's very dark.. sort of a "Godfather" feel. It's very cool! Ill start with the good: This restaurant is absolutely adorable. I love the empty part of the resaurant that is super dark and kind of confuses you, true speakeasy fashion. Inside the restaurant part is very dark too, I saw people using the lights on their phones to see the menu. The inside decor isn't for everyones taste but at the least its very interesting and charming, there is a lot to look at. On the other hand, I wouldn't come back. The food is cheap, bland, and less authentic than the Olive Garden. The sauce and pasta are the same you could get at the store, the chicken probably once frozen. The dessert was like elementary school cafeteria cake. Our server was pretty rude and seemed rushed. read more

There are two specific reasons I have always wanted to go to Monteleone's: 1. The giant face painted on the side of the building with the words 'Speakeasy' next to it and 2. Because of the ghosts. I'm not exactly a believer in ghosts (that's a bit of an understatement), but I love going to places that people claim are haunted or have some kind of presence. I may be a tad more skeptical than the normal El Pasoan, but as many haunted places as I've been, I have yet to see anything remotely unworldly. But that doesn't make it any less fun. Monteleone's was actually on Sy-fy's Paranormal Witness earlier this year. Supposedly there was some kind of portal that was allowing evil spirits into the business. Since it's discovery, it's been sealed or closed or whatever the hell a medium does with a portal so no one can cross it, but apparently the medium left three friendly ghosts in Monteleone's. I unfortunately didn't encounter any of the ghosts, but luckily the ambiance made up for the lack of paranormal activity. I came in through the back and from the outside was expecting something a lot smaller. From the back you walk into a hallway that seems like a tunnel in a cave. If you go straight, there's tables...but that room just seems like an overflow for the main dinning area. I circled back and took the left that I should've originally taken. The whole place is decorated with props from old movies and it's prohibition/mob/rat pack themed. Pretty awesome. Not gonna lie, when you're walking to the main dinning area there's a display on the right that's just kind of creepy...you just feel like the things are going to move. They didn't, but if I was a ghost, that's the kind of tricks I'd play on unsuspecting customer (here's to hoping the ghosts have internet access and read this review). Monteleone's is family owned and everyone working is a sweetheart. There really isn't that long of a wait for food even though it comes out hot and fresh. I ended up having the Zucchini Sticks, Fettuccine Alfredo, and the Tiramisu. Overall I like the food my only comment would be the zucchini and fettuccine could've used a bit more salt...but I can always add my own salt and I'd rather eat at a place that doesn't put enough salt than a place that puts too much salt. So Monteleone's is still okay in my books. Overall, I like the food, but the experience is what has me totally sold on Monteleone's. And if anyone else goes and has a ghost encounter at Monteleone's please, please, PLEASE for the love of everything that makes me happy in this world, TELL ME ABOUT IT! read more

Place was interesting and fun to see; however the food was an insult to Italian food. I ordered Pellegrino or anything sparkling water they had, the waiter had to check if they even had any. He brought me carbonated water but it was actually just water. I asked for a Lemonade, and once again, water was brought me instead. Waitress came over asked if everything was ok, I told her my lemonade was just water. She asked "are you sure?" Yes I replied, I know the difference. She said she would check. Came back and said, oh yes we are out of lemonade and walked away. Didn't apologize or ask if I wanted anything else instead. I ordered the Bruschetta as an appetizer (look at the picture below) it was regular diced tomatoes with sprinkled parmesan cheese and watered down olive oil. Bruschettas are usually toped with teardrop tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil that should have been cooked with garlic, salt and pepper. Then olive oil with balsamic vinegar dip. The salad was small. I was only provided a salad fork which I had to keep for my main meal. The main dish was a baked ragatoni. It looked good. Once I took the first bite the pasta was still not cooked right. It was not drained properly so the sauce became watery from the water still in the pasta. The only thing that had flavor was the sausage within the sauce. The bread provided was only one small roll per person and it didn't have or come with butter or garlic spread. No flavor. I wasn't asked again if I needed refills on my fake sparkling water or lemonade. I was given my bill. Once I had to pay with cash app (only cash app or cash is accepted) the cashier said the bill was strong because there was a change on the meal prices. This seemed eerie that the waiter and cashier did not know the prices or changes to the menu. I'm a big Italian food person, and I feel like I would of gotten a better meal from a frozen healthy choice meal or an airport restaurant. read more

This is a super tiny place. I would guess it only seats about 30-40 people. I got the lasagna. It was on point. Food is great service is great. I had a little problem finding the entrance/parking lot but circled around the block couple times and turns out it's in the back in an alley where you need to park. Additionally the service was so good and I was a little self conscious b/c the place was small that I felt they were trying to rush me out so they could use the table. But that wasn't really the case. I took my time and enjoyed my meal. Tipped 33% cause service was so good. We did our research before coming here. We watched the Paranormal Witness episode (Season 3, Episode 4). From what I can remember, it was built on what used to be a spiritualist church (church that would attempt to contact spirits of the dead) and they were finding relics while renovating the building. These relics appeared to be purposely walled in. One of those items was a Virgin Mary figurine. They would turn it one direction and it kept turning around on its own. Also, the ghost was progressively becoming more bold to the point of locking one of the workers in the bathroom and even attacking them. I did notice that the patrons were never bothered by the spirit. The waiting area is extremely small, maybe only 6 people can comfortably fit in it. Fortunately, our wait wasn't long (maybe 15 minutes). We were sat in one of the smaller rooms and of course our table was the one right beside that Virgin Mary figure that was shown on the Paranormal Witness episode. I ordered the soup and the Chicken Parmigiana. I can't remember the name of the soup, but I remembered that I loved it. Also, the one thing we noticed was how quickly our food came out. I thought my dish was just slightly on the blander side or maybe I've just developed a taste for food with a higher salt content. We were looking forward to dessert, but unfortunately they had run out of tiramisu and they warned us that the wait for the cannoli would take a while because they just put in a large order. This is a cool place. If you like spooky and dark places, you'll like this spot. It also has a speakeasy vibe/atmosphere. I didn't really know anything about it until some co-workers brought me for my birthday some time back. I had a garden salad and spaghetti with meat sauce. All of it tasted homemade and pretty good. I've also had their pizza and lasagna. Both were also tasty. The cheese and sauce were plentiful in both. It all tasted fresh and made to order. The quantities are huge! The restaurant was said to be haunted. In the times I've been, I haven't experienced anything paranormal or bizarre. Lady Diana aka Lady D., a local psychic I've gotten to know told me all about it. The restaurant's building was supposedly built on church land over 100 years ago. The restaurant's owner asked her to do a cleansing because of Thomas, a negative spirit that used to be there. Thomas was known for throwing things at the employees. There were/are also other nice spirits. The restaurant was featured on SyFy channel's "Paranormal Witness" circa 2012 or 13. If interested, you could find the episode on YouTube. I've seen it. I'm not much of a believer in ghosts but I enjoyed watching it. I recently watched a ghost hunters show (Paranormal Witness) where this restaurant was featured and I knew I wanted to try it for my birthday. We went last night and immediately walked into one of the most interesting environments I've ever encountered in a restaurant. It was dimly lit with a lot of figurine displays and the entrance through the back was a long, low lit cave like hallway that just screamed eerie. Still, we found our seating, ordered some fried zucchini, our meals, and indulged. The dish was perfect. The zucchini still had crunch with just the right amount of breading. The plate sizes are very generous when you consider the price you're paying so you should be pleased. My giant slice of lasagna engulfed an oval sized dish and tasted exquisite. I'm more privy to enjoying a red sauce that has a nice tinge of sweet to it and this was one of the better sauces I've had at a restaurant. My girlfriend had the Alfredo pasta with shrimp which looked good and tasted great. Her mother ordered the spaghetti with meatballs and that looked great as well. The salad was good, the bread they served with your meal was fresh, and the chocolate chip cookie dessert with ice cream was fantastic. Their chocolate, pistachio, and cherry ice cream that accompanied the dessert made it perfect. I was headed toward a 4 rating simply because of the lighting but it's meant to be a date environment with intimate lighting. Plus, the casino room has full lighting if you prefer that. Also, the staff was friendly and they showed us the prop statue used in Paranormal Witness (plus the actual figure pulled from the wall that inspired the show to film there) Definitely worth visiting and indulging in. read more

This place had been on my bucket list for a long time. They are not open every day all day so it had been a struggle to make it fit with my schedule. First, we had a bit of a hard time with parking. I knew that going in because of its location. Once we walked in we couldn't find the door. I thought I was in an escape room for a bit. It was my son who pointed out that the door was the grill of a car that is painted on the wall. Fun! As soon as we walked in my first impression was it was very dark and the place was very, very musty smelling. We enjoyed the ambiance, pizza was ok, and the service was very friendly. I recommend anyone who stops in takes a visit to the bathroom and roam around the different rooms. It is definately historic and ecclectic. While I was not uber impressed with this restaurant I truly appreciate the different type of atmosphere and theme they deliver. Oh, and I didn't get to experience any ghosts as they are known for. Food was great, service was egh... and parking was difficult! Overall my wife and I had an enjoyable experience for our night out. We had to park in the alley behind the restaurant and find a partially hidden entrance (part of the theme maybe). I had the delicious lasagna and my wife enjoyed her zucchini tortiglioni. The rolls were also fantastic! We only saw our waiter once after he took our order, hence the egh service. Happy to have had the dining experience, wouldn't be in a rush to return. read more

The atmosphere is wonderful with the "mob" theme and dark lighting. We started with some Italian nachos, surprisingly light and delicious perfect for two, but we had four so ordered the fried provolone, also delicious! Entrees come with a starter or salad or Italian wedding soup - salad if flavorful and the soup is delicious, although I will say a little salty for my taste. Our waitress is the reason for the review not being 5 stars, I will call her speedy ;) Speedy initially tried to get us to order even though we were waiting on another member of our party and was irritated when we didn't order. Then speedy tried to talk me out of ordering the homemade ravioli 3 times because it would take longer, we were in no hurry and that is what I had set my heart on. The Italian sausage ravioli was AMAZING!!! Worth the wait Speedy ;) I normally never say something needs more salt because most places over-salt everything, but my preference would have been a touch more salt in the ravioli dough. We all tried each other's meals and the chicken Parmesan was delicious - one of the best! The baked rigatoni was probably all of our favorite and it's MASSIVE we made two more meals out of if so could easily be shared. We were looking for a new Italian restaurant to try for an early Valentines dinner and thought we'd try Monteleone's since it had been recommended to us. We enjoyed the decor and props and hearing about the ghosts, which didn't visit while we were there. A candle on the table would be nice as we did have to use our phone lights to see the menu, but that's the only complaint. My lasagna was fabulous and was a generous portion, the rolls are to die for, I took extra home to eat with my leftover lasagna . My husband had chicken Parmesan which came with one piece of chicken and a large serving of spaghetti. He rates it an 8 out of 10. We ordered the cookie dessert which was served hot in a skillet with ice cream. One of the best cookies I've had and my husband who never eats cookies said it was the best he's had. As everyone has already stated, the environment is unique but a little too creepy for me. We went late at night when it was a little windy and had to park far... just walking to the restaurant was already scary for me! Everywhere you turn in the tiny, crammed restaurant there is something new to see. The service was okay and the food was pretty good. Afterwards my husband and I walked into the cave-like hallway to check out the rest of the place. We went down the left and saw more seating and a stage with skeletons on it, amongst many other objects. Much of their storage decor looked like old school safes or even coffins. I was creeped. I went down the right to quickly use the bathroom and my husband waited in the hall for me. He admitted that he felt a little creeped as he waited, which is unlike him! (Also can we please talk about the place Wrap and Roll a couple houses down?? With giant clown figurines bigger than the house itself and a mini carnival opening, in an alley, where the door is a huge clown head's mouth opening with sharp teeth??
