It's his business and you always interact with him directly. He gives you his cell phone number and patiently answers all your questions as needed. He does the scheduling and he's the one that comes to do the work. When working (I had a cooling check done), he made sure to explain everything about my particular cooling system to me and took the time to answer any questions I had. It's obvious that he just wants to do good work and leave the customer happy. He's not looking to make more money than he's reasonably owed. When looking for an AC tech to check my cooling system, I briefly chatted with a bigger company who gave me inflated pricing for simple maintenance (they were also oddly ambiguous about contingency pricing). Philip was straightforward when we first spoke and gave me all his pricing, including any potential add-ons (super dirty coils, etc.). It was an easy choice. His prices are very reasonable. It was $80 for a cooling check (incl. a light condenser coil cleaning) and $60-$70 for a heating check (in April of this year, obviously prices are subject to change based on economical considerations). The only problem is he's busy! Since it's just him, he's booked way out in advance for maintenance. He does always leave openings for emergencies so don't hesitate to reach out to him. It's a bit old school so you've got to pick up the phone and call (no online scheduling or Yelp quotes or anything). I also paid by personal check (forget what other payment options were available). Thanks, Philip!

I was looking to replace my entire AC system which is why it's important to find the best in the business and rated the best. It's also important to find more than one 5* business so you can get a better picture and quotes for such an expensive endeavor which I found helpful. If you're going to go all the way with such an expense, it's best to educate yourself as much as possible, and there's lots of YouTube videos on AC repair and replacement which you should watch prior to making that decision. You really need to be an informed and educated customer or you might find yourself with an inferior or wrong system. I found that certain AC companies want the steer you to certain brands they represent, so you may wish to decide on a brand first. I found that the Carrier Infiniti system with its very high seer rating and variable speed was the perfect choice. More details on this system in the photos below. If you live in a two-story house like mine, you can expect the price to be much greater due to the fact that you have dampeners which will need to be fixed or replaced which greatly adds to the bill. As for my AC, it was over 20 years old, but still chugging along. However, I knew there was going to be new mandates in 2025 which would greatly add to the expense of AC replacement such as a new refrigerant which is slightly flammable called Puranovance. I replaced my old R22 compressor with the new R-410a which is still readily available, but will eventually be phased out many years from now. I also mistakenly thought you'd get a good deal by replacing it during the cool months, but apparently a lot of people were doing what I was doing so no break in the price. As a matter fact, the date of manufacture of my new Infiniti compressor was only just a couple weeks old before it was installed. After some back-and-forth on pricing, we finally decided on a date of installation. Carl and his crew showed up and had everything installed within six hours and hauled off the old units. We still needed some troubleshooting in order to dial-in the thermostats functioning properly, but everything works perfectly now and the temperature remains exactly as you set it throughout the house. Both the compressor and the blower motor are incredibly quiet. Since I knew I needed this replacement at some point, I had enough money in the bank to cut a check for the job. When you sign up for Carl's service, you get Carl in the equation. Check out the photos below which show you the equipment, specs and the pricing. Update: After 2 weeks the plenum did separate, but I was able to use foil tape to close up the 8" gap. Personally, I think a 30 day check up would be a good idea not just for Carl, but anyone who gets this kind of installation from whatever company you choose.
