This place is absolutely horrible... I should have read the reviews to know what to except. On 2.3.26, I paid cash for a smog check and used a $20 coupon. My vehicle did not pass (check engine light / too lean bank 1) and I was told I had 10 days to come back to complete and pass the test again; or, I will have to pay again. Today, 2.5.26, my car was serviced at Pep Boys. I checked and found that the Smog Test Only Station closes at 5 p.m. When I arrived, at 4:48 p.m. I saw the roll-up door closed, but the pedestrian door was open. I was approached by an abrasive male what stated, "We're closed." I said I thought you closed at 5 p.m. He stated, "We're take the last customer at 4:45 p.m. because it takes 20 minutes to complete a test." I said I am (3) minutes late, a return customer (with my paid receipt / failed test results), and had my vehicle serviced and repaired today. He stated, "You have to drive it 100 miles before you come back to re-test." "You could have just had the computer re-set." I was not told about the needed 100 miles to be driven. The male who assisted me (2) days ago walked up and I told him that I was not told this by him. He said, "I do not remember you." The rude guy tells me that Pep Boys should have told me about the 100 miles and that I should have told them why I was there; basically it all falls on me. He also stated, "You could have just had the computer re-set with out any repairs to pass a smog test." If this is a Smog Test Station rule, then they should have told me... not Pep Boys... after going back and forth, I said I will come back within the 10 days and drive the car as much as I can. I do not appreciate the accusation of possibly having the computer re-set without being repaired. I am only going back to complete the test, will never use this site again, and will share my experience to family, friends, and co-workers. Rudeness will slowly bring down a business. UPDATE: On 2.9.26, I returned an my vehicle passed the smog check. All three (3) staff members lacked any form of customer service and/or politeness. The lady that I was sitting next to, while waiting for our cars, commented, "They are not very friendly here are they?" I responded, "No, not at all and I will never come back..." If the shop closes at 5 p.m., and the last customer should be there before 4:30 p.m., it should be posted. The staff and owner have completely missed the mark of customer service and the general principle of a polite greeting and simple conversation with each visit, "Hello, how are you?" and "Thank you." It gets the job done, Staff is straight to business no sweet talk, no appointments, no waiting rooms. I called in to ask, "do you take appointments, or is it walk in only?" Before I could finish I was interrupted with "No appointments" These guys are straight to business. If you don't care for small talk or pleasantries this is the place for you. Before you even speak to them, show them your coupon on their website! They will literally not honor it unless you practically force them to so do it before you even greet them! They know you here for a smog check so don't bother tell them hello I'm here for a smog check. Also I didn't have papers since I think I did electronic or email only. Just check your email and you can send these guys the report via email. They will print it out there. Very quick and efficient service like everyone says. I was maybe 3rd or 4th in line but still only waited like 15 mins, if that. Easy and quick smog check location that takes walk ins! I was in and out within 20 mins. There's also a coupon on their website that makes it cheaper if you pay in cash, show it to them before service when you walk in! There's no refunds if you use the coupon though if you don't pass. So if your car is iffy and you're not sure if it'll pass , maybe do their regular service, but if it's pretty routine smog check for your straight forward not super old car then totally fine. Went in for smog and didn't pass. Asked about free retest and they said ok. Came back 2 weeks later and was surprised I had to pay. They rudely pointed to small print saying must be done in 10 days. Owner was a jerk and after 10 years of coming here I can't come anymore. Will take our three cars elsewhere where they treat their customers right. Also cheaper in Monrovia on Myrtle $50!! And they're nice not like this place! you can see by his reply that he's a liar (never even argued with his 10 days) I just left because he was so rude and loud. These guys absolutely suck. They're awful. They run a bait and switch scam whereby they entice customers in with a $20 coupon. Then they refuse to honor the coupon saying it wasn't presented when you walk in the door. (Coupons are presented at time of payment. Otherwise, disreputable businesses, like this one, can charge a higher price to makeup for the coupon.) Meanwhile, the workers print the coupons themselves, and use them on your behalf - and THEY pocket the $20!!! What a bunch of losers. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE! I rarely leave negative reviews, actually this is my first one, but this one is warranted. I had a very disappointing experience with this smog shop. First, their customer service was consistently rude and dismissive. I called three separate times to confirm and reschedule an appointment, and despite all efforts to plan ahead, they closed early--well before their posted business hours. When I brought up the inconvenience, one of the younger employees had the nerve to say they "value their personal schedule over customer convenience." That alone tells you all you need to know about their priorities. There was zero effort to be accommodating or professional, and the sense of entitlement from the staff was honestly shocking. This is not a business that values its community or takes pride in its reputation. They clearly don't rely on referrals or repeat business, because they do nothing to earn them. I was impressed by Arcadia Smog Test Only Center. I had called ahead of time to get pricing and ask initial questions. This place is close by to where I work. They do offer a check in offer, which you need to mention and show them when you drop off your car. No problem! They do warn you that the check in offer is for cash price and they can only do the test once (even if it's a fail). I appreciated that they were ahead of schedule and called me right away. Please note you do have to stay there for the smog check time, but I was able to leave because my work was literally within walking distance. This was much appreciated since I am pregnant. read more

Scammed. I took my car in to get it smog checked and they took my car into their garage, which was not necessary, because I've been there before, and the smog check was all done in the parking lot. However, they wanted to falsely fail my vehicle smog test by falsely telling me the vehicle has problems with the active grille air shutter, which I had to replace costing me $252.74 from sierra nissan of duarte and an additional $150 to have it supposedly installed by body shop/repair shop H J auto group in baldwin park, due to my physical limitations. After completing the replacement, I went back to arcadia smog test only center to get it re-tested, but the hispanic male alfreado lara told me a I need to drive 100 miles miles to clear out the ecu memory. I didn't believe this, plus I could see it in his facial expressions, this is BS, but I left and drove about 75 miles, then returned to the shop. This time alfredo didn't take my vehicle to the garage to tamper with it again, the smog test was done in the parking lot, but failed again, stating the vehicle now has a evaporative system issue. I then, just left arcadia smog test only center, and later that night put some more miles on the car. The following day I took the vehicle to a different smog test only center and it passed with no problems. My advice to you is to avoid this smog test center, they, the nissan dealer and repair shop all work together to scam people for extra cash. read more

Came here for a STAR certified Smog check and was slightly dissatisfied with the value of service. The $20 off coupon, which needs to be presented first thing, requires cash only which was a bummer because I didn't have cash and there were no exceptions. So the full price for the smog check came out to $69.75 which was more than other places were charging, so that was the disappointing part. My family member had a poor experience dealing with this business. They were unprofessional and told her she needed to have major work done on her car in order for her to pass. We took her vehicle to another smog check business and they said no major work was needed and per their check they said the car passed. Came in 4:30 pm on a Friday and just walked in and got smog tested, no appointment needed! There's a Yelp check-in deal but I think it's about the same with the online coupon they are promoting. You need to bring cash for the deals and it will be around $40 total after fees and such. Simon was great, to the point on paperwork and in checking my car. I was on my way in no time, pretty good for a one bay smog check location. He even pointed out that my brake fluid cap was off (oops) and put it back where it needed to be. When driving up to the location, the entrance to the lot is on La Porte St. and not directly on 1st Ave. Also note that this business is not be confused with other car place Fast Autoworks across the street. read more

Guy at the counter is very rude and unfriendly. Was told first test that it didn't work and to come back again after driving around because codes were cleared prior to test due to service. Came back for retest 13 days later and was told by the same guy that their policy was 10 days and I had to pay again. They are 50% higher priced than other smog places AND the same rude kid didn't mention 10 days at all after the first test. Highly don't recommend due to attitude, price, and service.
