Feels like one of those old-school family-run neighborhood businesses where people are actually happy to see you. Everyone was very nice and cordial from the moment I pulled in. A genuine "good morning" and "thank you" when I arrived, and another thank you when the service was done. Simple stuff, but seriously, where else do you find that anymore? They don't take reservations, so it's all walk-in. I got there around 8:35 AM with a few people already ahead of me, and I was still out by about 9:05. Pretty impressive for a walk-in smog check. The lot was clean, the office was clean, and the whole process was straightforward and painless. $60 for my 2018 Toyota 4Runner. Nice folks, quick service, fair price. I'll definitely recommend Kevin Smog to others. read more

Came in for a smog check and it went so smoothly! I walked in with no appointment and there were 3 cars ahead of me - this was on a Thursday at 11am. My total wait time was just about 45 minutes which wasn't too bad. He currently charges $50 and prefers if you pay in cash but also accepts apple pay! The workers here are so friendly it literally feels like you're coming to visit a friend or family. The smog check is sent electronically by them so you don't have to do too much other than coming in and handing them your form. read more

Was recommended this smog shop stop from my regular car mechanic Tony from Tony's Auto Service on Valley. The man worker is super friendly, easy going and nice. Works really fast. Smog check, in and out, in 30mins. Pros: -plenty of tables and chairs outdoors for sitting and waiting with an umbrella for shade -the man is super friendly and nice service -accepts credit card -can walk to nearly plazas or even Home Depot if there's a long wait Cons: -small parking lot read more

Came in for a smog check for my car renewal and it was EZPZ! Everyone was super nice and there's a bunch of spots to wait around. Kevin was nice and apologized for the wait. But to be fair I came when it was pretty busy so that's something I expected when coming unannounced. The price was super affordable coming from someone who's pretty frugal. Overall great experience, I would recommend to family and friends. read more

Kevin's great, he's a nice and honest Vietnamese uncle. I waited 10 mins because there was someone else ahead of me. He checked it and told me I didn't have enough miles to get checked. I paid first and he told me to come back and offered suggestions through Google on how to get my smog check to pass. In and out in 30 minutes or less and he answered my questions. Takes Apple Pay. Price is the cheapest I've checked for. I will return! read more

My husband got his car smog'ed here back in November 2025, and Yelp just reminded me to write a review. I had a very positive impression so I'm taking the time to do it. They didn't require appointments and they served us quickly and efficiently as walk-ins. The wait was minimal (maybe 1-2 people ahead of us?)-- total in-and-out time was maybe 30 min. They offered a great price ($50) and no fooling around with coupons like a lot of their local competitors who mark up prices and then offer "discounts" with coupons. Kevin's dad (I didn't catch his name) was very friendly to us. We will definitely be back for our future smog checks. read more

These guys are honest and considerate. The first time I went this morning, the guy said it would be an hour wait in case I had to go into work. The second time I went, the older gentleman asked me for paperwork (didn't have it since it was all electronic) because he said he didn't want to charge me if it wasn't required. read more

Needed a smog check per the lovely state of CA. Spent about 45 mins - 1 hr checking Yelp before landing on Kevin Smog. They answered all inquiries promptly. Provided accurate wait times. Charged an awesome rate compared to others quoting an extra $20-25. One waiting area outside and one inside. Bring some hearing protection. Languages spoken: Viet, English, possibly Mandarin. Unsure about Cantonese. Would definitely return and recommend to others who have at least 30-40 mins to spare on a weekend. Weekday waits may vary. read more

quick and cordial with a fair price, i definitely recommend coming in for a smog check

Fast service with honest pricing. Been coming to get my smog check here and am usually able to be in and out within 20 minutes. Usually costs me around $45 for my 2016 cx5. Definitely recommend coming here. They've got ample shaded seating outside too! read more

There's not much to say about getting a smog, but when you get a notice to renew registration, you're forced to look for a Star Certified place. Here's one that gets the job done. They raised their prices at the beginning of 2023, but still fair compared to some other places. They usually have a short line of cars waiting, and the guys will direct you on where to park. There are seats outside and a couple more inside for ones waiting for their turn. I used to go to another place but they keep changing their prices every time I go. Here, the prices are posted so there are no surprises. Nice guys + quick job = I can go on with my day. read more

Great quick service :) no lengthy wait. Very nice customer service. I have no complaints here :)

Service was fast and worker was nice as well. It only took about 15-20 mins for the whole smog check and everything.

Fast and good. Kevin is doing great his job. Walk in is welcome. I like his service .

No appointment needed. Was in & out in 20 minutes. Staff was very nice. Shop is clean. Smog check was very affordable. Provided me with a copy inspection pass paperwork for my records which is nice, most places just send it in to the DMV and don't give you a copy. read more

My car battery had just been changed because I haven't used my car for sometime. The owner (Kevin?) Said he can't do the full test, I need to drive the car for at least 100miles before he can test. He did give me 2-4 wks to do so and agreed to do the test without any additional fees - we did that and we were able to get the test , pass it, and get our DMV renewed. Yehey! Thank you, Kevin Smog! read more

Appreciate Kevin Smog. My car showed "Not Ready" a few times and they kindly gave me the heads up each time before doing the test. I finally just got a Bluetooth OBDII Reader to make sure all Emissions Status were green before coming back. I also encountered an issue of the "Emissions Label". This is usually found near the engine, but they were afraid to touch my vehicle so I had to drive back home and do some Googling to remove the Engine Service Cover to access the Emissions Label. If you have a similar vehicle, make sure all your systems are green and you have access to your Emissions Label to avoid unnecessary trips and headache. But, once all my ducks were in a row, it was smooth sailing. Appreciate these guys. They are honest and it was great dealing with them. I would avoid Las Tunas Smog Station at all costs. read more

Definitely a 5-star place! I was able to have my smog check done within the day after getting a quote, which was very reasonable and a great value considering the work and service. Very professional and took care of me right away. Will be going here moving forward. Thank you!!!! read more

I been here once for my dad car about 3 years ago and totally forgot about it. My friend recently recommend me the same place and when I got there, I remembered the owner and the place was the same as it was 3 years ago. Probably the cleanest auto place you ever see. The owner, Kevin is so friendly and really honest. I took my wife's car recently in for a smog check and he charge $45. It takes around 15 minutes to get it complete since my wife's car is still in great condition. I would highly, highly (not a typo) recommend this place if you are in need of a smog check around temple city. read more
