I checked Yelp and read the numerous positive reviews for Star Auto Check. I requested a quote via Yelp and within seven minutes, I received a reply and a quote from Joe. Joe advised me that a smog check was $39.75 plus $8.25 for the smog check completion certificate. Joe also mentioned that no appointment was required and that it would take ten mins max to have the service completed. Everything sounded good to me so I took my truck in for a smog check. Upon my arrival, I was immediately directed to park my truck in an available bay. A very friendly and hard working employee (Sergio) approached me and requested my DMV renewal notice or the vehicle registration which I provided. I had time to sit in the waiting room and glance over friend's Yelp reviews (what could be better than reading Yelp reviews? :) Nine minutes later, Sergio walked in and announced "your truck is ready". WHAT!! Wow, I was impressed as the service was completed in record time. Sergio advised me that proof of the service was electronically sent to the DMV and that I should receive my new tags within seven to ten days. Nothing further was required from me. I was genuinely impressed and thankful for the GREAT and friendly customer service I received today. Thank you!

It took me a couple months to get back to bringing it but I still had my receipt so I thought I would be fine. When I came back his worker was there, and this is where I have an issue. Because if the standard is to charge people once they pass, even after they paid the initial fee then fine do that. But instead he looked at me and asked me why I took so long to bring it back (does it matter? It's my car??) & he asked "did he [the owner] ever say how much you have to pay" wtf? Umm do you guys not have my receipt and know the protocol? Is this a person by person basis? This was very shady and unprofessional. He then calls said owner, and tells me he will charge me. I was charged $20 total, $10 for service and I forgot what the other $10 was for but it made no sense. I wouldn't come here again, because they aren't outright with their prices and don't have them posted anywhere, so they can charge what they want when they feel like it. Not cool.

I'll definitely recommend Kevin Smog to others.

My 2018 Honda Civic kept showing "Not Ready" because I don't drive much since I work from home. Gregory patiently explained the situation and told me to drive more and come back. He was honest, knowledgeable, and never once tried to scare me into taking my car to the dealer. He said he's been doing this since 1987, and you can tell. This is the kind of old-school customer service that's hard to find these days. After my car finally passed, Gregory even gave me a complimentary car wash next door, which was such a thoughtful gesture. After the week I'd had, the little smiley-face air freshener from the car wash actually made me smile. Most people only write reviews when something goes wrong. I wanted to leave one because Gregory did everything right. Honest, patient, professional, and genuinely caring about his customers. I've found my new smog guy and will definitely be coming back in the future. Thank you, Gregory!

He was so friendly and knowledgeable, fixing the issue and double checking the car. Other clients I saw were all treated very kindly with smiles all around. Ahmad is truly a genuine and kind hearted person that cares about his customers and I would recommend coming over to him for your smog tests! STAR APPROVED!

I came here for a smog check, and the whole experience was quick and hassle-free. The process is straightforward with no upselling or unnecessary waiting. I showed the online coupon and got $20 off, then paid cash for a total of about $70 for my 2012 Honda Accord. From the time I pulled in to the time I drove away, it only took about 15-20 minutes. The staff keeps things moving efficiently, and the service is exactly what you'd expect from a smog test center--fast and to the point. I arrived around 8:30 AM with only one car ahead of me, but by the time I left, four or more cars had already pulled in. The shop itself is basic and no-frills, but if you're looking for a place that gets you in and out without wasting your time, I'd definitely recommend coming early.

I recently tried to smog my vehicle there, they charged me full price, and when the smog computer did not read, they told me bring it back within ten days, if it passes there is no charge for the test. Seven days later my machanic returned the vehicle, it passed smog, and they charged him full price, so I of course returned to ask for my refund. I have never seen a business owner tell so so many lies to avoid the issue. Even though they offered this in writing. They actually bent over backwards to avoid honering their written guarantee. So I paid twice to smog my car in seven days, listened to the owner lie four different ways, and discovered the true character of this business. Needless to say, they have lost my business forever, and if you do business with this company, watch your wallet, and know their word is worthless.
