Called for a quote, close to closing time and every other location was closed. He said he would remain open, arrived..didn't shut off the car. He went straight to working on it, took time to explain some basic car facts to me as he preformed the smog check. Price was very reasonable and affordable compared to other locations. If you have a 70s car dont go to this guy, he told me the EGR valve is missing, i tell him it never had one and look at the emissions sticker it doesn't say EGR, he would even look, the door sticker say made in Canada with federal emissions, So i went to the Smog Ref, the SmogRef checked my truck and said that it was not required to have an EGR valve, i went back to Estrada and showed him the Email from the SmogRef but Estrada wouldn't look at it. This guy Estrada is a hard head, and will not believe you, find another smog test guy don't go to Estrada. read more

I've taken all my cars to Estrada's Smog Check shop when I receive the dreaded DMV letter that a smog check is required. I've taken some newer models and some older ones. The newer ones pass and some older cars don't until I can fix the issue. Either way I still like coming to this shop. It's not fancy or pretty. It's just a smog check. You arrive to the shop, you show the owner ( or at least I think it's the owner) the DMV notice. He hands you a clipboard and instructs you to fill it out and sign it. A few minutes later, you are either given your pass certificate or he tells you that it didn't pass and that it needs a mechanic to take a look at it. I normally show up early so I'm the first or at least close to it. I'm happy with the service that he provides and will continue to go back and recommend him to others. read more

I had taken my older(in great condition cosmetically and mechanically)Toyota to get smogged here two years ago and paid somewhere around $55-70. Fast forward to recently and I take my vehicle there again and told him that I'm a previous customer, and without missing a beat he states that performing a smog on "old cars" now runs $100. He made that up. I didn't even see any signs stating what he charges in a visible and clear location, so be careful, as others have stated, it seems like this guy is starting to get greedy and not forthright in his services. Dudes a prick. First time I went I didn't pass smog.charged me 70. Says he wants cash only but I looked around and there's no sign that says cash only or else I wouldn't of given him business. Says he'll make an exception. Gave me the paperwork and told me I had a free retest. Even circled the part when it says "pass or (one)free retest with in 30 days. I get my car fixed. Go back for the free retest not even a week later and as soon as he sees me he made a face, looked like he didn't want to work and was bothered that I came back.. Runs the smog, I pass. I go to get paper work and says it'll be $10. Show him I have the paper where he circled and told me i get a free retest. Says no my vehicle is old so it'll be $10 and won't give me the paperwork. So I go to pay with card and says it'll be 2 more for card. He didn't charge me 2$ for using card the first time.. I tell him I'll be back with 10 cash since he wouldn't release my dmv paperwork to me. I go to bank come back with 10 and as I'm leaving he's talking shit to his employee about me not wanting to pay 2$ For paying with card. I shouldn't even have had to pay the 10 in the first place. Do not come here! This guys is a thief. I had seen a review before coming here saying similar things but I thought I'd give him the benefit of doubt. Smh.. read more

This place was recommended to me by my dad. I went in and was helped immediately. He was very friendly and the service was quick. I'm not sure about the tip below but the agreement that you sign shows that if it doesn't pass you get another retry for free. It does also have a sign in his shop that if it doesn't pass you still owe the fee. So everything seems pretty clear at least when I went. Plus, threatening someone over a smog check that's a bit ridiculous. Either way I had great and fast service! Thanks Jesus. read more
