No one likes going to the dentist (except maybe those into S&M). But if you have to go you'll be in great hands with Dr. Azarbal and staff. Dr. Azarbal is absolutely the best. I unfortunately have severe dental neglect from childhood/teen years. On top of that I inherited bad teeth from both parents. Did I mention they're incredibly crooked teeth as well? Because of that I have severe dental anxiety. Before I got to Dr. Azarbal I had teeth pulled, 8+ root canals, TMJ, you name it. All of that work was going bad as it aged. Crowns literally broke off and teeth were falling apart. I'm not even 40!! But Dr. Azarbal fixed it all. ALL OF IT! He understand my anxiety is the nicest, gentlest dentist you could ever find. He offers gas or anxiety medicine if needed, makes sure my ipod playlist is on, and even brings in my boyfriend if I seem especially nervous. He is kind, funny, has saved teeth other dentists said I would lose. Even when I was out of work for a year he still took good care of me, and helped me prioritize what had to be done. My teeth are finally healthy enough to treat the crowding and I now have invisalign braces. He is the best. read more

The dental assistant can clean your teeth just fine here, but I would never recommend this dentist, because just about anything else will be botched. My gums began to recede. Abruptly. I am in my mid-20's, and I've never had a cavity, but Dr. Azarbal insisted that I wasn't brushing well enough and needed to brush harder, more often, and possibly have gum surgery. Went to two different periodontists. They agreed that I needed to brush less, with a softer toothbrush--because brushing too much was what actually caused the recession in the first place. Azarbal will also give you a hard sell on a nightguard you probably don't need--his patient contact is mostly restricted to finding a jaw pop or click you have never noticed or had a problem with, and trying to scare you into buying a $400 device. He also won't give a straight answer to a straight question--he just harps on the same point, and doesn't provide any actual details or medical information. His staff is nice, but they also overcharged me. The refund took some work on my part, but they didn't make that big of a deal about it--it was just slow (because Azarbal had to OK the refund, and he took his sweet time). read more

I had a lot of dental work to be done before I got pregnant. Dr. Arash was great. Luckily they took kaiser too so I could use both my insurances. The treatment included a couple of inlays, onlays and fillings so was expensive out of pocket even after two insurance. Getting appointments was hard in general but the doctor was accommodating. I was very sensitive to cold after the treatment so was a hit concerned but as the doctor mentioned, it took 6-8 weeks for things to calm down. He was helpful with all the calls and appointments I asked for during and after the treatment. I keep going back to him. read more

My last dentist did a bunch of work that wasn't sealed right which was leading to decay under the caps and fillings. Dr. Azarbal identified my problems from the xrays and saved my teeth! Prior to visiting Dr. Azarbal's office, I was deathly afraid of the dentist and all things related; extreme, extended pain prompted my visit. I was recommended Dr. Azarbal by a co-worker that was very aware of my heightened fear. Dr. Azarbal and his team are incredibly patient, understanding, and friendly. My unwarranted fear made me a very difficult and reluctant patient, however, Dr. Azarbal took the time to understand my fear and to adjust my treatment plan accordingly. He always explains precisely what procedures he is going to perform, which made me less nervous, and established expectations up front. As a patient in Dr. Azarbal's office, I have had a root canal performed, fillings, and a tooth cleaning; all of which went incredibly well. I can attest that I felt far less pain during my recovery from the root canal procedure than the pain that brought me into the office initially. I would highly recommend Dr. Azarbal and his team to all patients, especically those that are afraid of the dentist, or who have not been as diligent with their dental hygenie. read more

I had alot of work completed by dental factories ( you know, the ones where you wait forever and see a different dentist everytime) - As a result, I had alot decay under fillings, etc. Dr. Azarbals' staff made sure to take alot of digital x-rays and made me feel right at home. It took about two weeks to fix 90% of the issues but, Dr. Azarbal made sure it was completed with professionalism, humor, and personality. I have found Dr. Azarbal to be extremely assertive, professional, jovial, and very attentive to patient needs. He explains procedures as he goes to make you feel comfortable and makes the dental experience a joy rather than "torture". The office is clean and up-to-date in technology. The office staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome, work with you if you have an emergency and "get you in quickly" and are always cordial. This is very much appreciated by me. You are better off with Dr. Death: Jack Kevorkian than this dentist because you will at least die with less pain. I am not even sure whether I can call him a dentist. The fact is I went there for fillings. He lured me to do more filling than I need to. One of the fillings he had done three months ago is still painful after he did several adjustments. And then the three fillings he did in December 2009 were painful and sensitive as hell. I cannot eat any solid, cold and hot for more than three months. He told me that those fillings need to be redone. I don't feel comfortable anymore with him, so I finally switched to another dentist. He fixed all the fillings problems with one appointment. All he did was adjustment. He told me the reason for those pains and sensitivity is because the fillings were not only in the cavity, but also left in between the teeth. YES, I had fillings IN BETWEEN THE TEETH. Every time when I eat, these fillings would hit the gum nerve. So just go to a real dentist. He is someone who claimed himself a dentist and put fillings in between the teeth. read more

I was on the verge of writing a blog on how to spend your life finding the right dentist -- without success -- until I found Dr. Azarbal. Up to that point, I had been meeting with other dentists, looking for the right fit as I was embarrassed by the current state of my mouth. Anxiety had always overpowered vanity when it came to my teeth, which is why I hadn't seen a dentist in 10 years. And I do mean anxiety - lots of it. However, the war was lost when I broke a front-facing tooth. I decided -- with the assistance of the reviews on Yelp -- to give his office a whirl, with GREAT apprehension. First, I liked the office immediately. It's a nice throwback compared to tricked-out dental offices that look like operating rooms. Nothing fancy. Secondly, Megan who is the first person you talk to either on the phone or in person is incredible. She reminds me of someone I would have been friends with in school. The rooms are small and private, which was key for me - as so many dentists have open-space chairs these days. Cesar, one of the assistants, is really kind and excellent at getting you comfortable. When I finally met Dr. Azarbal, I liked him instantly. He's got an infectious laugh and talks as quickly as I do, which I appreciate. Nothing worse than spending more time in the chair than necessary. I had a cleaning, one facing, and one crown. The work was excellent. And believe it or not, I'm actually looking forward to going back to have him repair some disastrous work performed by a previous dentist. Yes - you read that correctly: I'm looking forward to going back. Dr. Azarbal clearly cares about his patient's comfort level and their dental health, and he puts you at ease with his great sense of humor. Dr Azarbal reached out to me after my review (I really appreciated this, it shows he cares). We had some dialogue about my concerns and he promptly resolved my issues. To me, this is just as important as the office visit. Understandably, it could have been a bad day for the doctor when I visited. Things do not always go perfectly well, not matter were you go. A big plus I forgot to mention was his office staff. They are prompt, very courteous, and eager to to make you visit a good one. Just because the first visit didn't work for me, doesn't mean you should not try Dr Azarbal. I had broken my front tooth and was desperate to find a good cosmetic dentist. I am a photographer and designer and extremely picky with aesthetic, specially when it comes to teeth. One of my biggest fears was to end up with a dark or bicolor tooth right in front of my mouth. So I looked online and Dr Azarbal had great reviews. I decided to give it a shot. I made an appointment and he saw me right away. Seriously, I couldn't be more fortunate to have found a better dentist. He did an incredible job reconstructing my front tooth; the shape and color are perfect. He asked my opinion during treatment and I didn't shy away from giving him my input regarding the shape of the tooth. He attentively listened and incorporated my input as he saw fit. He really seemed to care about what I thought since I was the one who was going to have to see the tooth everyday in the mirror. Really incredible. Nobody can really tell part of that tooth is resin. This was a few years ago and since then he has been my regular dentist. I never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen and all the hygienists are nice and skillful. He also did a proper diagnose of my premolars receding gum tissue. Other dentists would always say that the problem was that I was brushing my teeth too hard or the wrong way, but I wasn't! I always felt like crazy because they wouldn't listen to me. So Dr Azarbal listened and said that the problem was my bite and unless we fixed that, the condition would only get worse. He added some resin to protect the almost exposed teeth roots and added some more to the inside of the canines so the bite would be adjusted preventing further damage. Amazing! Problem solved for a year now. Dr Azarbal is definitely one of the most knowledgeable and caring dentists I met. Totally recommend him. read more
