Needed dinner fast bw flights and really wanted something healthy-ish that I could cram and this did just the trick! The food is fine, I stayed away from the fish as a personal preference so I got a chicken bowl with some veggies. If you like kimchi I would definitely recommend adding it - probably the best part of the bowl because it gave it some necessary kick. Keep your expectations at airport food for sure. I went straight to the front but even when a line formed it moved super quick.

For airport meals this is pretty up there. Service was phenomenal whether ordering to go or sitting at the counter. The food was fresh and favorable. Everything appeared clean. Managers checked in often. No complaints here.

Not bad for an airport rice bowl! I dropped by during a layover at MDW for their Spicy Tofu Bowl (fully vegan friendly). It was a mix of white rice, red onions, bean sprouts, and tofu topped with green onions and a tangy vinaigrette. I was impressed with how much tofu was given and that it was actually spicy. Definitely a good kick without it feeling completely burn-your-tongue. I was a bit surprised the tofu was cold since I'm sure the meat options were likely heated, but a toss inside the bowl with the rice should heat it right up. For $15 with tax, I'm satisfied with this airport lunch.

The food here is terrible. Watery and soupy mess of poorly seasoned "fried rice" and overcooked and mushy veggies. Would recommend staying completely away from this place. If I could give zero stars I would. Don't trust the positive reviews. Maybe the sushi is better? Would you chance it?

For sushi in an airport...it's pretty solid. I mean, outside of the airport it would be a different story, but if you want somewhat healthy food while trapped at Midway, this isn't a terrible option to have. But when every review starts with "For airport food this isn't bad," lol, you get your grain of salt ready.

Pretty clean bar and food for grab and go vibe inside of the airport with shared dining tables with other restaurants. Service was okay. They seemed understaffed and made people order food at the other end of the bar. Pretty good healthy build a bowl lunch.

    Trio Maki Roll

The trio maki roll was really good. They have this chili oil sauce on top that was both refreshing and spicy, which I think is a really hard balance to create. I will say it's overpriced (airport food typically is), and I was a bit peeved that they charged me approximately $3 for a cup of hot water. Service was good, but there was a slower start. Their miso soup was really small and average in taste.

Teriyaki chicken Bowl was pretty good! I liked that I could add kimchi and pickled ginger. Felt healthy enough. Held me over for the flying day.

For an airport food/restaurant, this place was actually pretty good. It was a little sketchy but it's a risk that i should take to find good foods! lol but anyways, risk was taken and food was given. I was surprised how good their teriyaki beef bowl was. NGL, it was better than some spots i've been to. i was glad to see a striving restaurant that actually serves good food at the airport food court!

Service was absolutely fantastic. I asked to see what the teriyaki beef looked like. After the nice lady showed me, she asked if I wanted to try a sample. I did try it and it was fine plus I was extra hungry after flying in from CA. I decided to order the beef teriyaki bowl. I was pleasantly surprised to see what they added to the bowl. There was sautéed mushrooms and onions, takuan (pickled radishes), shoga (ginger), green onions, and sesame seeds. The bowl was really good with the authentic Japanese toppings. My only complaint would be the amount of oil at the bottom of my bowl from the beef. I managed to finish the bowl while my sister and nieces waited in line for a burger at another location. I'll definitely stop here again when flying through Chicago.

Kind of the definition of airport food. Had the breakfast bowl and as you would expect, average at best. The breakfast bowl and a coffee will cost you about 20 bucks. I would not buy this again, too expensive. I guess there was a small rush, took awhile to get my food. Ordered cheese on my eggs for cheesy eggs, but shredded just thrown on top which did not melt in. As far as ambiance, you're in an airport.

Best airport food I've had and considering it was a poke bowl that's saying a lot. The fish was fresh and they were generous with the avocado. I would have given them 5 stars however I didn't like that on the menu they don't explicitly say that the rice is extra which is a little weird considering most poke bowls come with rice and they also didn't ask me if I wanted it with rice or not. I just found out about the extra charge at the register. When I asked about it the bartender who was working at the register shrugged his shoulders and said something along the lines: "I'm new here, I don't know". Despite this I think it was an overall great poke bowl so I would come back.

Update: I guess the owner has never heard of the expression "nothing to write home about" before replying back. Maybe you should use your phone to actually Google things before taking things literally. I gave a decent review but now it's just 1 star. I'm not sure if the account for Midway was hacked because they were very professional in their responses at their other location.

I almost decided to save Miru for our next visit, but I'm glad I made time for breakfast here on our departure day. Located inside the St. Regis Chicago, the restaurant offers beautiful views. The service was excellent--attentive, friendly, and professional. I ordered the Tokyo Breakfast. The salmon was perfectly cooked and paired beautifully with rice, a soft-poached egg, and salmon roe. The miso soup was slightly salty on its own, but it worked surprisingly well when enjoyed with the rice toward the end of the meal. Overall, a memorable breakfast experience. I'd love to return and try the lunch or dinner menu on my next trip to Chicago.

It's all about the views!…read more Miru is one of the newer sushi restaurants relatively uncompetitive sushi scene in Chicago, and it hits the spots for those interested in classy ambience and jaw dropping views. The sushi is phenomenal, as were our drinks... but the other entrees are disappointing. The karaage and duck yakisoba in particular in quality could be from any corner restaurant in Chicago. The service lends itself more casual, and I noticed they were consistently quite slow to clear our table. I don't think people come here for the food as much as the views. Overlooking Streeterville from this angle and vantage was truly jaw dropping and for this reason I still strongly recommend Miru.

My only critique is the pacing. Since the chef already had the fish sliced and prepped, I expected a smoother flow, but the meal took about an hour and a half for 14 pieces of sushi. It felt a bit slow, especially for a lunch service. That said, if you're looking for a reasonably priced omakase with quality fish, this is a solid choice.

Both were great. Our bartenders were lovely and very friendly. Found out this is a Malort tasting room and we were able to sample some different Malorts (the cocoa one was good!). Then we were taken back to our table for dinner. Our server was super friendly as well. Started with the miso soup and crispy tuna bites which were probably my favorite dishes. The taki yoki fritters weren't bad either. We saw people getting omakase, so we ordered a yummy looking piece they were receiving. It was just okay (chutoro truffle). The nigiri was also okay. The tuna piece was the only I really loved. The fish quality wasn't as high as I was expecting. The sushi was decent. A little too much truffle in the spicy blue fin tuna and a little too vegetable forward in the hamachi serrano. All in all, the atmosphere and amazing service pushed this up to a 4 for me.

The restaurant houses both an omakase counter and an izakaya, but in completely separate spaces. The omakase side is an intimate, beautifully designed counter with around 10 seats. We were the only guests that evening, so the whole experience felt wonderfully private -- just us, Chef Shoji, and the fish. Chef Shoji opens the meal by presenting the actual fish you'll be eating, all flown in twice a week from Japan or Spain. It immediately signals what kind of meal you're in for. The 20 courses were well-paced and the quality was consistent throughout. Nigiri and sashimi were pristine, but the hot dishes were equally impressive, which surprised me. Both sides of the menu showed real craft and attention to detail. Service was fantastic -- warm, attentive, and never stuffy. At $210 per person, it's a special occasion meal, but one that genuinely delivers on the price. As someone who eats a lot of omakase back home in LA, I wasn't sure what to expect. I left genuinely impressed. Highly recommend if you're looking for a serious sushi experience in Chicago!!!
