There was sautéed mushrooms and onions, takuan (pickled radishes), shoga (ginger), green onions, and sesame seeds. The bowl was really good with the authentic Japanese toppings. My only complaint would be the amount of oil at the bottom of my bowl from the beef. I managed to finish the bowl while my sister and nieces waited in line for a burger at another location. I would have given them 5 stars however I didn't like that on the menu they don't explicitly say that the rice is extra which is a little weird considering most poke bowls come with rice and they also didn't ask me if I wanted it with rice or not. I just found out about the extra charge at the register. When I asked about it the bartender who was working at the register shrugged his shoulders and said something along the lines: "I'm new here, I don't know". Seems a bit farcical, but I assure you they do run a legit operation here--as this is the offshoot of the similarly named eight-time Michelin Bib Gourmand award-winning restaurant also located in Chi-Town. I mean, I like sprouts just fine, but just not that much. *Service was very gruff and mumbly. We mostly communicated through hand gestures and grunts. Very primal. The Ugly: *According to the menu, there's supposed to be some kind of sauce, but there was none. It desperately needed a sauce in order to tie the whole bowl together, as it was severally underseasoned that way. I really appreciate that they have several gluten free options - as someone with celiac, that's a rare find in an airport! However, the food is clearly prepared en masse with no options to customize what you get (example - the teriyaki beef comes with onion and mushrooms automatically mixed in). Whether you order at the bar or the quick service line, all of the food is served right there from warmers that don't taste very fresh. You have to get the food and then stand in another separate line down the bar to pay. I ordered the teriyaki beef bowl with a miso soup. The miso soup has fresh green onions and seaweed, and is hot. The broth is very bland. Teriyaki beef bowl is filled with pickled Dicon radish, Beni shōga, rice, sautéed mushrooms/onions and chop beef. The radish and ginger are OK. The rice is a little overcooked, and the beef has a sauce over it, but I cannot taste the teriyaki sauce that was squirted on very well, but I can taste the beef tallow. Food is good for airport food. Ingredients were cooked well and identifiable. They hit a pet peeve of mine in terms of providing instructions though. I ordered through the app and got a text when it was ready. Text says "ready for pick up under the pay/pick-up sign. You do not need to wait in line when you get to the location." It was not under the sign, and after waiting a while and asking around, i found i had to go wait in line where there was a hidden sign about mobile orders. Is this a huge deal? No. Did it piss me off in the moment because of the general awfulness of air travel? Yup. Is it entirely avoidable? Also yep. So if y'all read this, please change your text instructions.
