From the moment you arrive, staff greets you warmly, takes care of valet parking, and helps with your luggage. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff was always friendly and helpful. During the day, you can choose from three different restaurants. I didn't get a chance to try them all, but I did have breakfast. The food was okay, but the breakfast area is small with limited capacity. I ended up waiting about 40 minutes in the lobby before being seated. That was the only downside. In the evening, I invited some relatives, and we went to the bar. It's small and intimate, and that night they had a gentleman playing the piano. He even played a few of my favorite Luis Miguel songs, which created such an enjoyable atmosphere. Staff at the bar were attentive and made the experience even better. As for the room, it was spotless and very comfortable. Housekeeping did an excellent job, and anytime I needed something, staff responded right away. I've stayed at several hotels in Mexicali, and this one is by far my favorite when visiting family. I definitely look forward to returning!

we were very very very pleased with our visit!…read more The hotel was SPOTLESS and modern, very nice design. The rooms were nice, well designed space, the best features: Microwave, refrigerator, and the soap and conditioner pumps in the shower(so you don't have to ask for five bottles every time you shower), lastly, the availability of baby cribs. The BEST service and what really made this Hotel stay the best was the breakfast. The availability of American foods like, French toast, pancakes, waffles, cereals, pastries, breads, etc was nice but having the Mexican breakfast buffet as well was amazing, chilaquiles, menudo, beans, eggs, etc. this was by far the best breakfast we've had at a hotel. The other half of the star, was the staff, constantly cleaning and taking away dirty plates. My family enjoyed the pool, but noticed there was other services also available, like a gym, laundry room, print center, They also have a 24/7 little store with snacks for purchase. The reception desk was also helpful. (This is where you get your towels for the pool). Next, the location of this hotel, was perfect. It's in a very nice Plaza, with high end restaurants and shops, and for some last night snacks (a 7/11 store). There is parking right in front of the hotel or underground. Lastly, to my embarrassment, about 30 mins after checking out, I realized I had forgotten an item in the room, I called the hotel to explain, and by the time I returned to the hotel, they had nicely packaged up the item and it was waiting for me at the front desk. The staff, the amenities, the food, and the rooms, were perfect. If all hotels are alike Fairfield Mexicali, Marriott has gained a loyal customer.

My parents often mentioned how popular it was in the '80s and '90s when celebrities stayed here during their concerts, so I booked mainly out of nostalgia. The room itself was clean, but the customer service was disappointing. Staff seemed uninterested in their jobs, and there was no sense of warmth or hospitality. The biggest issue came on my last night. I hadn't seen my aunt in 20 years, and she stopped by around 8 pm to bring me dinner and say goodbye before my departure the next morning. Security denied her entry. I explained she was only visiting for an hour, but they sent me to the lobby to speak with the front desk. To my surprise, the front desk insisted I pay an extra fee as if she were staying overnight. This made no sense at all and left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. Because of this experience, I won't be staying here again. It's unfortunate, since the hotel carries so much history, but the lack of hospitality overshadowed everything else.

Upon arrival, an additional FORTY DOLLARS/ 800 pesos was demanded for my acommpanying 11 lb dog! The paperwork asserts this is supposedly for "fumigation". The maid who woke me up today by opening my door, because she wasn't informed I was staying over (ill), 4 hours after I re-booked with the office did not have the necessary apparatus for "fumigation". This place is shamelessly gouging & poorly organized. 2 stars because Nadia at the front desk is a competent & kind young lady. I ordered roomservice because I wasn't well enough to go out, & it was God-awful. A pesto pizza with no pesto, a crust like a wet tortilla & horribly salty. I'll never darken these doors again.

There are so many police eating breakfast, there are not seats for the people staying in the hotel. The hallway smells like a locker room after a hockey match. Disgusting. I set the thermostat at 25 before I went to bed and I woke up. It was 13.5. Freezing. There's some type of freaky device with no explanation in the room. I'm not sure if it was recording video or what it was doing. The location is good, but find your box under bridge and you'll be more comfortable. The 2nd time I came to stay here it was a pain to find parking. The restaurant next door uses the same parking lot. I had a hard to finding something and after 30 min I talked to the receptionist and she advised to park behind one of the hotel vans which I did. This is the 3rd time I am staying here and check in is at 3pm. It is now 4pm and we do not have our room. There were many guests who didn't have their room as well. We were told 5 min and it's been an hour. I keep checking with them and they have no updates. I think this is the last time we stay here. Update: got our room after 1 hour and 20 min. We get to our room and it there was luggages in there indicating that someone was in there. We called them and it took about 15 min to get a new room. We went out to dinner came back. Everything was fine. We left and came back again and we were locked out of our room. 3 strikes and now you're out. I should've payed 180 dollars to stay at the fancy hotel or something.
