The food was okay, but the breakfast area is small with limited capacity. I ended up waiting about 40 minutes in the lobby before being seated. That was the only downside. In the evening, I invited some relatives, and we went to the bar. It's small and intimate, and that night they had a gentleman playing the piano. He even played a few of my favorite Luis Miguel songs, which created such an enjoyable atmosphere. Staff at the bar were attentive and made the experience even better. As for the room, it was spotless and very comfortable. Housekeeping did an excellent job, and anytime I needed something, staff responded right away. This last visit, my towels and sheets didn't look clean. Actually, the hand towel was dirty. The bar wasn't open. The place seemed very run down. One elevator wasn't working, some of the walls were torn up. I had to go back down to the person that checked me in because my key did not work the first time. I hope they turn things around again or I may have to start looking for somewhere else to stay.

My family enjoyed the pool, but noticed there was other services also available, like a gym, laundry room, print center, They also have a 24/7 little store with snacks for purchase. The reception desk was also helpful. (This is where you get your towels for the pool). Next, the location of this hotel, was perfect. It's in a very nice Plaza, with high end restaurants and shops, and for some last night snacks (a 7/11 store). There is parking right in front of the hotel or underground. Lastly, to my embarrassment, about 30 mins after checking out, I realized I had forgotten an item in the room, I called the hotel to explain, and by the time I returned to the hotel, they had nicely packaged up the item and it was waiting for me at the front desk. The staff, the amenities, the food, and the rooms, were perfect. If all hotels are alike Fairfield Mexicali, Marriott has gained a loyal customer.

The biggest issue came on my last night. I hadn't seen my aunt in 20 years, and she stopped by around 8 pm to bring me dinner and say goodbye before my departure the next morning. Security denied her entry. I explained she was only visiting for an hour, but they sent me to the lobby to speak with the front desk. To my surprise, the front desk insisted I pay an extra fee as if she were staying overnight. This made no sense at all and left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. I had one reservation with four rooms. Due to international calling, I emailed in advance to have the rate applied. Yolanda Carbajal Munoz indicated she applied the rate. However, she only applied it to one room and I was charged the full rate for the additional 3 rooms. Front desk: Checking in was unpleasant. They didn't know how to direct us to where our rooms were. They didn't inform us that the elevator was not working. (I had my mom with cancer that cannot climb stairs and my disabled brother). There was a lack of empathy and problem solving skills, and poor customer service. When checking out I asked for a folio of the rooms and identified the error in applying the group discount and the front desk was un resourceful and could not identify a general manager or provide a solution. Rooms: I was in a single executive room and there were dead cockroaches in the bathroom, the toilet wasn't clean and had skid marks, and there were old toilets and showers outside my window, along with workers walking by.

We get to our room and it there was luggages in there indicating that someone was in there. We called them and it took about 15 min to get a new room. We went out to dinner came back. Everything was fine. We left and came back again and we were locked out of our room. 3 strikes and now you're out. I should've payed 180 dollars to stay at the fancy hotel or something.

I read some reviews, and it seemed ok, so I went ahead and booked a suite. I was very surprised at how nice this hotel was for the price. The suite had a large living room, a working fireplace, and a good-sized balcony. Even the complimentary breakfast was pretty good for what it was. Wifey even said it wasn't too bad. So overall, we would stay here again.
