I stayed here for a week and I lo I absolutely loved my stay here! I booked one of the cabañas by the pool area, and I slept like a baby. From the moment you arrive, staff greets you warmly, takes care of valet parking, and helps with your luggage. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff was always friendly and helpful. During the day, you can choose from three different restaurants. I didn't get a chance to try them all, but I did have breakfast. The food was okay, but the breakfast area is small with limited capacity. I ended up waiting about 40 minutes in the lobby before being seated. That was the only downside. In the evening, I invited some relatives, and we went to the bar. It's small and intimate, and that night they had a gentleman playing the piano. He even played a few of my favorite Luis Miguel songs, which created such an enjoyable atmosphere. Staff at the bar were attentive and made the experience even better. As for the room, it was spotless and very comfortable. Housekeeping did an excellent job, and anytime I needed something, staff responded right away. I've stayed at several hotels in Mexicali, and this one is by far my favorite when visiting family. I definitely look forward to returning! read more

I've been to the Hotel Lucerna in Tijuana many many times, and it's higher-end K Tower. Now I'm coming to the Hotel Lucerna in Mexicali. A personal matter first brought me to Mexicali a few months ago. A spur-of-the-moment trip led me to get an accommodation here for a night in one of their cabins. The cabin was very spacious, clean, and with a comfortable bed. The air conditioning and heating were working perfectly, and there was little outside noise that permeated the room. My later stays were at their tower, which boasts five stories, and has rooms similar to the hotel tower in Tijuana. Some rooms have balconies, and some don't, so keep that in mind if that detail is important to you. There are mid-level rooms that sit in two story structures. They are a happy medium between the cabins and the rooms on the tower. This property is beautifully designed. They have a swimming pool (currently undergoing repairs), fountains, and beautifully manicured greenery lining the hallways to this great place. There is parking along the front and side of the property, and I've never had an issue finding a spot. There are several restaurants here (a Mexican and an Italian place), as well as a bar. The gym is alright, it has dumbbells going up to 50 lbs, and some cardio equipment. This property is centrally located in Mexicali's downtown. There are several restaurants and a pharmacy across the street. There are multiple medical services within a 10 minute drive, and the US-Mexico border sits 15 minutes away. I've always found Hotel Lucerna to be a great experience, whether I go to the Tijuana or the Mexicali location. I have no doubt that the locations in Ensenada and Culiacan will treat me well. If you're looking for a nice place to stay in Mexicali, or want to have a date here, or a special event, then consider Hotel Lucerna. read more

It was an ok deal compared to other hotels. But when we checked in the hotels bathroom has so much hair! It made me feel like they don't really clean the hotel rooms like they should. Whenever I visit Mexicali, for my business trip, I always stay at Hotel Lucerna. This hotel is large and is designed with many amenities for the business people who want peace, meeting rooms, a place to relax in their bar, and also a place to dine with various selections. The rooms are clean, decent size and quiet. They do a good job keeping the entire hotel clean and welcoming. I enjoy their bar, since the staff are all very friendly, and do a good job with their service. If you are craving for some authentic street Tacos, you can take a short 5 minute walk and reach a couple spots. Be careful with traffic, since people tend to drive crazy here. Definitely the best restaurant to stay in Mexicali. read more

This has been the worst experience. Rooms are not throughly cleaned. Dust everywhere handprints on doors and light switches, floor not vacuumed, and even found a pair of dirty socks in bed. Would not recommend. I had to really throw a fuss in order for them to change my room. Came into new room, same thing minus the dirty socks. I literally had to wipe everything down. Stayed here several times on my trips to Mexicali. I tried another hotel or two before this one and this is def my go to. The staff is friendly. The rooms are clean. There is a restaurant on the grounds and room service too. Two pools although the water was pretty warm during the summer. (Its hot in Mexicali during the summer!!) The place is well kept up and staff is always around if you need something. The restaurant is good too. The hotel is central to several things (although we didnt get to do much because of Covid closing most things). There are plenty of food options around and a grocery store nearby (many walking diatance). Uber eats is familiar with this location if you are wanting to stay in. The rooms are spacious, we had a double bed while my family had a Suite which was also really nice and big. Beds are comfier than the other hotels I stayed at in Mexicali. Cleaning lady like Lorenza, is super super cool. Shes a very nice lady and always made sure we had everything we needed. They give you free waters which is nice. AC in the room keeps it nice and fresh. Safe area, security always on duty. We love it. read more

What a great hotel in the middle of Mexicali. It's the kind of nice hotel where people have their wedding reception. There were a bride and groom getting their photos taken. The grounds consist of multiple buildings and take up a lot of area. You're going to get great service. It's the kind of place where a bell hop in a white suit with a white mesh safari hat takes your bags, shows you around the property, and shows you to your room. It's safe and there's a parking lot attendant that makes sure no undesirables enter the hotel. The staff speak English well. They're very friendly and helpful. There's free wifi everywhere on the property. The rooms are very nice and comfortable with some television channels in English. It's the perfect place for laying by the pool and enjoying a beverage. read more

Our room was beautiful and very clean and fresh when we arrived. Very modern and well kept interior. Minutes from the border with easy and safe parking and a guard outside. This resort style hotel has everything you need so you don't have to ever leave. Restaurants, bars, shopping, pools, gym. Only suggestion is beware of the bird poop. It is serious business. The previous review expecting the staff to give out freebies because of bird poop is just ridiculous. If you do happen to get dumped on though, there is a very fast and thorough General (Dukes of Hazard Themed) car wash just around the corner. Also, complaints about the birds being loud is just as ridiculous. This has nothing to do with the hotel or the staff. I have stayed here several times in the past and will never again after my last experience here. I stayed in room 171 september 27 & 28, i got woken up 3 times by security accusing me and my boyfriend of smoking when all along it was the room above us on the balcony. We were trying to sleep and every 20 minutes they kept threatening us. I was so upset because i had a wedding to attend the next day and sadly i got zero sleep! They even called my room phone and were being very unprofessional over the phone to me, never did i expect this. I had almost 100 people staying at your hotel which i will be telling everyone about my experience so we can take our money elsewhere! Bad service! read more

This is a very good Sunday champagne brunch in the Justo Sierra area of Mexicali. The service here is beyond excellent, as is the norm at restaurants in Mexicali. They have a carnitas Taco Bar that just made my stomach growl (true story). I must have eaten 4-6 juicy tacos, in addition to several other well-made Mexican dishes. They also have plenty of attractive desserts, however I skipped dessert in favor of a half dozen wine goblets filled with champagne (I will not name the waiter/waitress who was super cool that morning). I highly recommend this place for Sunday brunch. read more

First trip to Mexicali for business. Hotel is nice, clean and the people are nice. As a business hotel, I will say that it wasn't what we needed. Internet was almost none existent in the hotel. They even provided a dedicated SWITCH for hardlines so that we wouldn't be relying on wireless. Well... That didn't work at all. Certificate errors all over the place, web browsers wouldn't connect. Called in their Network Guy to fix the issue, and he fixed it by moving my laptop from wired internet to wifi. My team is staying one more week, probably going to just stay at the plant to work our double shifts. Food is pretty awful, but I don't know what to compare it with here, so I can only say that the quality is not what I would expect. The breakfast buffet was ok, there was a lot of selection, but most of it didn't appeal to me for breakfast. The room looks like it was remodeled, and is very nice. The bed is awesome. The shower is HORRIBLE, it was warm at best and there is absolutely no pressure. The water temperature did get a little better after we notified them about it. Staff gets 5 stars, very accommodating and nice. Transportation from hotel to plant was also top notch. read more

Stay here last month since my family was having an event in Mexicali. I decided to give this hotel a shot since it was remodel and the location seem perfect. As we got here yes the hotel had been remodel and it seem nice, the rooms were nice and the beds were comfortable. What I was disappointed on was how long it took them to clean the rooms everyday. We stayed for 4 nights and everyday we had to wait for are room to be clean. Also, the biggest issue was that I don't think they do a good job since my 1 1/2 year old found a used condom next to sofa. Man I was furious, I brought this up to the person in the front desk and the only thing she said or we are very sorry sir. What a joke that was, I was in hurry to get back home but I wanted to share this with you. read more

I would recommend this hotel; however, I would recommend ear plugs as even though I am not a light sleeper I could still hear some of the comings and goings out in the hall and even in the next room. I would also avoid going to the bar/restaurant. With so many great places to eat and bars to enjoy, the service as well as the food/drinks, were mediocre. A lovely hotel with a wonderful staff! We were going camping in Baja on Christmas Day when we hit some car trouble. When we realized we needed to stay in Mexicali for the night, we found them (by reputation on Yelp) and called to see if they had room. They did and we drove over, ended staying two nights. The staff were all extremely helpful, especially Roman and Federico - they helped get us in touch with a trustworthy mechanic, made sure our vehicle was parked in front of the security cameras (our gear was in an open bed pickup truck), and were communicative and supportive. Everyone else we spoke with on staff was also extremely helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and comfortable, the on-site restaurant had hearty breakfast and superb steak for dinner. All in all, we were very well taken care of and could not have landed at a better place for our unexpected delay in Mexicali. If I ever get stuck in that town again, this is the first place I would head! read more

Would not recommend! My family and I stayed in the hotel last night and we have mixed feelings about it. The room was clean and nicely updated. The staff is great and breakfast from Los Portales restaurant was delicious, and not too expensive. However, we paid $112 for one night for a family of 4, on a weekday (Mon-Tue) during a pandemic, so it feels kind of steep, but whatever. The main reason why I wouldn't recommend staying is the parking lot!! They tell you where to park, which is mostly under some trees where birds poop all over your car!! Then you let front desk know, and they only smile about it while you have to pay for the car wash. I may sound petty, but IT IS GROSS and excessive, and more than an inconvenience, it completely changes how you feel about the hotel. Also, the birds are extremely loud at night, so sleeping well is not an option. I understand the hotel is not responsible for the birds, but they can do something complimentary to makeup for it, so that guests leave satisfied -which they don't! So, unless you're willing to pay and take your car straight to the car wash, on little sleep, STAY AWAY! read more
