Kyoto latte
Soly Z.

The atmosphere and vibe was very cute and promising but unfortunately it left a lot to be desired. The coffee wasn't robust or full bodied and the prices were high, even for NY. Donuts were $7.50 each and very small. Even though they were tasty, they weren't worth the price. Service was a-ok

Stopped by this cafe on a whim Friday afternoon while looking for a coffee spot in NYC. First impression: the staff seemed bored, like they had nothing to do, which set a lackluster vibe. It was summer, and shockingly, there was no AC--pretty uncomfortable for a cafe in the city. We ordered a Kyoto latte and a matcha. They didn't ask what kind of milk we preferred and defaulted to whole milk. Not sure if they even offer milk alternatives, as it wasn't mentioned. The Kyoto latte was a letdown--barely any coffee flavor or aroma, just a light sweet taste despite no added sugar. The matcha was equally underwhelming, tasting average at best, far from memorable. The seating area was decent, but there's no food menu, which is a bummer if you're looking for a bite. Overall, the experience felt flat, and I wouldn't rush back.

Best latte of the weekend! We stumbled on this spot and loved it. The latte was so good and worth the short wait. Loved the options and the homemade feel here.

The coffee was great. The baristas were nice and the place is pretty cozy. The Kyoto latte I had was pretty good and came pretty quick too. I'd comeback again.

Such a cool architectural coffee shop. Stopped in after seeing the Kyoto latte and it had a subtle tea flavor I can't quite pin point but it was good coffee for sure. Service was excellent. It has some seating and pastries we didn't get to enjoy but the location felt almost cave like which was a nice surprise.

KYOTO LATTE

the kyoto latte has been my go to order at % arabica. i would recommend this beverage to those who want to be woken up by caffeine ~just gently~ it's smooth, subtly sweet, and well balanced. this small midtown branch is a temporary, tucked away retreat from the bustle of manhattan. the baristas are friendly and the interior is calm. the coffee shop's curved, striated walls and warm, soft lighting create a cozy space reminiscent of the future library silent room in oslo, norway. MoMA and the 53rd street library is within walking distance, so there is no reason to linger here too long. this branch does not offer outlets, wifi, or seating besides a long bench.

Great coffee!! Nice little space below street level. Service was friendly and quick at making the drinks.

Service is a little slow but absolutely beautiful Highly recommend the Kyoto Latte!!

Kyoto latte... smooth and perfectly delicious with just a touch of sweetness

Their Kyoto latte is now my favorite latte in the city. It's a beautiful drink. The space here is modern Japanese, minimal with clean lines. There is an oblong bench that could sit a handful of people, and that's about it. So this is not a place to bring a laptop. But the drinks are unique, which is why I keep coming back here whenever I visit MoMA right across the street.

In BGC, manila there is a giant stylish white Arabica cafe that people go to just do Instagram and I was wondering if there are any in New York. and to my surprise, there was one less than a block from my office next to MoMa. I head on over and I see a small shop front. That from the outside what looks like two cave openings leading down. Once you open the door you realize the shop is lower than the street level and you have steps going down to a long white cafe with the distinctive Arabica look. I ordered the Spanish Latte is made with their house blend espresso, the barista made a nice heart design, and it tasted OK, with mild flavors and the sizes here are small 10oz and 12oz at an above-average price. the service was good, but I was disappointed that my cup didn't have the % logo which would have made a difference to me because as a Yelper I like to post good shots that say were I been.

When you walk in, you immediately know you're in for a unique experience. The design of the shop is truly like nothing else I've seen. As for the coffee, I got the Kyoto Latte and I was a big fan.

Got the Kyoto latte iced. This is the worst arabica I ever visited! I got the oat milk replacement it absolutely over power the actual coffee. I couldn't taste any coffee except the oat milk. Given the price point- I don't recommend it.

The Spanish latte here is one of the best I've ever had! I am a huge Spanish latte fan and I feel they did it justice. The espresso is strong & smooth and the milk is great quality. The overall consistency of the iced latte is amazing and the taste is a perfect balance whether you like your coffee sweet or not. The interior is very aesthetic and modern. There is one long bench to sit on, but no tables. This is more of a grab and go spot, although we did enjoy our coffee on the bench. I will definitely be coming back here in the future!

We worked with Eric via email and he was great managing and making sure everything was settled ahead of the event. On the day of our lunch, we arrived around 20 minutes early and the table was already set up. We had two servers throughout the meal and they were lovely. They made sure everything was set up and we had everything we needed. For a large group reservation, they have a $60 minimum and you order everything ahead of time. (The afternoon tea set is mandatory for everyone to get). We had the afternoon tea set, caprese tarts and strawberry parfait for all attendees. The food was filling and tasty. Tea is always so good as well (I always get my Rose Lovers Milk Tea!) All in all, a great option for a group reservation in the city!

The size of both were the perfect amount since we just wanted something small to end the night. The ube crepe cake was really light and creamy. The ube flavor was pretty subtle, and I mostly tasted the cream. It's a perfect light dessert, but I would've liked the ube flavor to be stronger. The chocolate lava cake was super rich and decadent but also really delicious. I feel like it kinda battled with the ube crepe cake since they're total opposites. The staff were friendly. The interior was really cute and had a relaxing type of atmosphere that made it great for a nice place to sit, chat, and have dessert.

Favorite korean shaved ice spot in NYC! Very aesthetically pleasing interior with a lot of seating…read moreboth on the first and second floor, but can get very busy during peak hours. They have a wide variety of uniquely yummy Korean desserts, during my trips here most notably the Korean shaved ice. Very finely fluffy shaven ice which comes in two different sizes depending what flavor you pick (cup vs regular), each with a different topping/sauce combo. The strawberry one includes fresh strawberries and a strawberry jam drizzle that is just the right amount of sweetness--not too sweet. Also tried the ube which had mochi bits at the bottom, w/a deep flavor of ube drizzle that was yummy. This spot is pricey, which comes with the location yes, but do I think it's worth it? Yes. Would I bring friends out of town here? Yes. I've tried many many shaved ice dessert spots, and Seoul Sweets does an incredible job with the flavor combos and getting that perfectly soft, finely shaven, fluffy shaved ice (my preference: generally icy, hard shaved ice is no no imo for me) What I've Ordered Here Before: - Strawberry Shaved Ice - Ube Shaved Ice - Korean Donut Pastry

I was curious what makes ssal cakes different from typical flour. Honestly I was wondering if it…read morewould be chewy like mochi (it's not!). When I went at 7pm on a Thursday, they ran out of some of the ssal cake flavors, but luckily they still had the mugwort flavor which was the one I was aiming for. The plain cream one looks very angelic and attractive with the pale whiteness but for $1.50 more, I'd rather get a flavored version. Also I recall others saying that the plain one is a bit tasteless. The ssal cake ended up being super airy and light, even softer than a chiffon cake imo. It doesn't have oiliness, roughness, or acidity. Likewise, the cream matches the gentleness of the cake. The structure is interesting too, because the top layer of cream is thick, then a thin layer of cake, then a thin layer of cream, and a thick layer of ssal cake. When I eat it, I often get hit with the thick layer of cream on top while wishing there's more cake. Don't get me wrong, I like all components of it. I've had mugwort before but not super familiar with it. For those who've never had it before, mugwort tastes herbally and earthy kind of like the Chinese herb prunella vulgaris (?). The flavor here is strong but not in your face aggressive. I like how they dust the whole top with more mugwort powder which adds to the flavor and provides another layer of texture that's not overly dry (slightly messy tho!) I like how the mugwort is a greyish shade of green which honestly looks so chic and unique compared to other bright and colorful desserts nowadays. You can argue that the color looks dull, but I like it. My only complaints for the ssal cake are: 1) wish it came in a smaller size which would be easier to stomach (literally) and financially, 2) wish the cakes were in perfect squares. They're more rectangular without straight edges and 90 degree corners.
