I was visiting the city and was looking for a good matcha spot and after finding this place on Yelp, I knew I had to give it a try. I'm so glad I did!! They had a lot of flavors but I ended up ordering a regular matcha latte with vanilla to play it safe lol and it was exactly what I was looking for. The vanilla added just the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the matcha. In my opinion, it was smooth and well balanced. The café itself is adorable. It's cute and the wall decor was aesthetically pleasing. It also wasn't busy when I stopped by so I was able to sit inside enjoy my drink for a while. I'm definitely making this my go to spot for matcha every time I'm visiting New York

It's a cute small matcha cafe with 3 tables. The decor is simple and white with some plants. I ordered the mango matcha which was delicious! It wasn't too sweet. I would definitely come back.

KUSTOM @ NEW YORK This was a spot I found through Yelp, and it had really great reviews, so I was excited to give it a try. I ordered the strawberry iced matcha, and unfortunately, I wish I loved it more. The drink was a little too watered down for my taste. The matcha wasn't very strong, and it didn't have that rich, deep green color that I usually look for in a high-quality matcha. It felt like there was a lot more milk than matcha. That being said, the strawberry flavor was actually really good. I love strawberry, and it definitely helped make the drink enjoyable overall. It cost about $9, which is definitely on the pricier side, but when you're in New York, everything tends to be a little more expensive than expected. What really stood out to me was the atmosphere. The inside was super cute, aesthetic, and had a really nice vibe. The service was also incredible. The staff was very friendly, and the girl making my matcha was especially sweet. They even had complimentary water available, which was a nice touch. The shop is tucked a little farther down the street than you might expect, so make sure you keep walking if you think you've gone too far. Overall, it was a great experience with good vibes, friendly service, and a beautiful space. While I probably wouldn't come back specifically for the matcha, I'm still glad I stopped by and gave it a try.

Small, but they make good use of the space and I was able to get a seat. Server was sweet. Got their hojicha latte and it was great

I always go here for their iced strawberry matcha and a hot latte (usually maple)! Matcha servings are generous and fairly priced. I can also taste the quality beans of the espresso. The workers there are very skilled and accommodating, in some busy shifts I've seen one worker do it all in manageable time! Decor is modern with warm tones, a bit small but definitely a place to have a nice chat in!

Updating this review after the owner clarified that they do in fact use ceremonial grade matcha. The taste is still unfortunately off for me :( but it's not culinary!

Food/drinks: matcha is their highlight but I tried their Jeju orange coffe which was super good and very orange, I want to come back again to try their matcha. The green color looks legit Atmosphere: very cute and tiny! A few tiny tables Service: really friendly!! Adjusted my drink!! Price: cheaper than most matcha spots in NY!!

The matcha had a really good flavor. It's a bit on the earthy side which I really loved. The service was super friendly and quick, the only thing was that it was quite expensive for the size. Other than that it's a good midtown treat!

If I had a goal in life, (I guess maybe its sad I don't but if I did) it would be to explore the finest Matcha Shops in NYC and Write about them. Well, I've tried a few but I'll start here. It was the picture perfect morning for a Matcha. 40 degrees outside and just left Port Authority Terminal. When do you, go North a few blocks and you will run into this gem. A perfectly quaint place to get a great an awesome cup of Matcha. The store is decorated with tea accessories, some of which you can purchase as well as a clean, well lit space or order and sit and sip. The first thing I noticed was the price. $4 for a Matcha? I'll take two! Coming from California (see my Humanity Review), the price was half... The associate behind the counter was super enthusiastic, cheerful, chatty and helpful, and even gave a short history of the space, and the story of the store, and herself. I was very impressed with Kustom. Its everything you want it to me and nothing you don't. Five stars

Unfortunately this matcha place fell short when my friends and I tried. Not sure what went wrong when we went but it just didn't taste like anything special. We didn't enjoy our drinks and couldn't finish them completely. My friend who rated it highly the first time went back separately as well and changed her rating too - she told me something has changed. It could be the oat milk? Edit: My friend might have misread Kirkland for their special oat milk. However their oat milk was not good tasting. It's hard to describe but the taste was just not good,- something was off and it was very watery tasting. Service was just average, only one person working and it was very quiet. Not much seating, but it's a small place. Would not recommend or go back.

I love love love this place. It's such a small place tucked near the corner in Hells kitchen I would've never found this place if I wasn't looking for a coffee shop or a Matcha spot directly near yummy cheese pasta, which I was eating at nearby. I had heard that they use 5 g of Matcha for their Matcha latte but when I saw Hojicha on the menu with strawberry, I just had to try it. And I am REALLY glad that I did. It was delicious and I've been on my mind for days after that I haven't felt this way about a drink since I had the persimmon Matcha at verse cafe in Astoria. I would rank this among one of my favorite drinks in the city will definitely be going again whether I'm in the area or not. When you walk in the front door, it's a very small place with only a few seats, but it's very cozy and very clean. There's an overall very calming atmosphere and lots of Matcha bowls and whisks on display along the wall. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a very enthusiastic smile which instantly made me happy. I'm glad to hear that business is picking up and would love to see them open another location. Not shown here I also bought the Matcha white chocolate chip cookie which was really good compared to what I expected. I usually don't have high expectations for the baked goods at places where I'm going because of the crafted drinks so I won't say it's the best Matcha cookie in the world, but it had a really good chewy texture and while the Matcha flavor is not strong, you can definitely see a lot of Matcha was used because the color was very prominent. Of course, not too sweet so I would definitely recommend giving it a try. I also got the cardamom bun, which was my first time ever having a cardamom bun so I can't quite say how it compares the texture was good. The flavor was nice. I don't think I like cardamom but I didn't hate the bun so I guess that's a good sign. overall I can't wait to go back again soon.

Okay - mango matcha latte - talk about creative. Cute little matcha place in Hell's Kitchen that has some seating inside and 1 table outside. We opted for their strawberry matcha latte and their mango matcha latte - and yes I did enjoy the mango one a lot. I am on a mango kick! I liked that it tasted like fresh mango and that it wasn't too sweet. I'd probably keep my hangouts here short and sweet and with a one on one as opposed to a larger party...

Made my way to the west side to check out Kustom's matcha drinks and was not disappointed!! I got the matcha cortado which featured a deep, intense matcha that was super well mixed. The ratio of milk to matcha was nicely done for a cortado. The honey was a little concentrated at the bottom but it was probs just my fault for not mixing my drink. I really wanted to try their hojicha as well but I was too full. I wanted to get my hands on their matcha cookie they ran out of their baked goods. With all the matcha hype out there, I appreciated how their drinks were more affordable without compromising the matcha quality/amount. The store itself is small without much room for a line or for people waiting. Limited seating but I liked their minimalist aesthetics and green accents. Staff were polite.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! FYI - there are two unisex restrooms in the rear for customers to use with really cute wallpapers too.

We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.

Made with rice flour and egg whites, it is so airy, and literally feels like cutting through a cloud. Plus, it's gluten-free! A perfect little cake for a small celebration They also make the prettiest korean dessert sets, alongside bingsu, dubai chewy cookies, and einspanner. They're seriously always keeping up with the trends! *Black Sesame Ssal Cake $16.5 ** My top pick. The black sesame layer on top was the richest. Super nutty without being too heavy. The sponge and cream cheese had a subtle black sesame flavor. It reminded me of the cream in their black sesame einspanner. *Mugwort Ssal Cake $16.5 * This one was surprisingly rich. The mugwort had a strong earthy, herby flavor, while the plain cream cheese layer helped cut through the richness. *Mango Ssal Cake $16.5 This was a bit of a miss to me as there wasn't any mango-flavored sponge or mango puree inside. It was just a plain rice flour cake with a few slices of fresh mango on top. Though I could really taste the mild, clean rice flavor in this one. *Da-On Sang Set $26 ** A must-order if it's your first time here! The mochi was super soft, and the strawberry was so ripe and sweet. The yak-gwa and joo-ak were chewy, sticky, and just sweet enough, especially paired with the tea that came with the set. *Black Sesame Einspanner $8.5 *Mugwort Einspanner $8.5 The cream was lighter compared to other einspanners I've had. The mugwort one was bursting with earthy flavor. Definitely try it if you're a mugwort fan. The black sesame was alright. I personally wish it was a little richer.
