Love this tiny matcha and coffee shop! Visited a few weeks ago on a weekend morning and planning to be back soon. It seems they opened several months ago, located on West 47th and 9th Ave. Inside the decor is clean, white walls with light wood shelving and fluted wood panels along the front of the ordering counter. Very minimalist with mini plants and ceramic tea bowls and cups placed on the shelves. The shop is small with only seating for about 6-7 people so it's not somewhere to linger for a long time, however the staff/owner(?) is sweet and friendly and they offer two of my favorite things--a good matcha or hojicha latte, and cardamom buns! I got a strawberry hojicha latte $6.00 with oatmilk +0.50 and asked for it to not be too sweet and it was adjusted perfectly. Good strawberry flavor balanced with the toasted notes of hojicha. Terrific! The cardamom bun $5.30 was fresh and delicious as well, good amount of cardamom spice. While not the fluffiest I've had, it was still very good and I would pick up another here any day. Can't wait to come by again!

If I had a goal in life, (I guess maybe its sad I don't but if I did) it would be to explore the finest Matcha Shops in NYC and Write about them. Well, I've tried a few but I'll start here. It was the picture perfect morning for a Matcha. 40 degrees outside and just left Port Authority Terminal. When do you, go North a few blocks and you will run into this gem. A perfectly quaint place to get a great an awesome cup of Matcha. The store is decorated with tea accessories, some of which you can purchase as well as a clean, well lit space or order and sit and sip. The first thing I noticed was the price. $4 for a Matcha? I'll take two! Coming from California (see my Humanity Review), the price was half... The associate behind the counter was super enthusiastic, cheerful, chatty and helpful, and even gave a short history of the space, and the story of the store, and herself. I was very impressed with Kustom. Its everything you want it to me and nothing you don't. Five stars

Unfortunately this matcha place fell short when my friends and I tried. Not sure what went wrong when we went but it just didn't taste like anything special. We didn't enjoy our drinks and couldn't finish them completely. My friend who rated it highly the first time went back separately as well and changed her rating too - she told me something has changed. It could be the oat milk? Edit: My friend might have misread Kirkland for their special oat milk. However their oat milk was not good tasting. It's hard to describe but the taste was just not good,- something was off and it was very watery tasting. Service was just average, only one person working and it was very quiet. Not much seating, but it's a small place. Would not recommend or go back.

Okay - mango matcha latte - talk about creative. Cute little matcha place in Hell's Kitchen that has some seating inside and 1 table outside. We opted for their strawberry matcha latte and their mango matcha latte - and yes I did enjoy the mango one a lot. I am on a mango kick! I liked that it tasted like fresh mango and that it wasn't too sweet. I'd probably keep my hangouts here short and sweet and with a one on one as opposed to a larger party...

I love love love this place. It's such a small place tucked near the corner in Hells kitchen I would've never found this place if I wasn't looking for a coffee shop or a Matcha spot directly near yummy cheese pasta, which I was eating at nearby. I had heard that they use 5 g of Matcha for their Matcha latte but when I saw Hojicha on the menu with strawberry, I just had to try it. And I am REALLY glad that I did. It was delicious and I've been on my mind for days after that I haven't felt this way about a drink since I had the persimmon Matcha at verse cafe in Astoria. I would rank this among one of my favorite drinks in the city will definitely be going again whether I'm in the area or not. When you walk in the front door, it's a very small place with only a few seats, but it's very cozy and very clean. There's an overall very calming atmosphere and lots of Matcha bowls and whisks on display along the wall. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a very enthusiastic smile which instantly made me happy. I'm glad to hear that business is picking up and would love to see them open another location. Not shown here I also bought the Matcha white chocolate chip cookie which was really good compared to what I expected. I usually don't have high expectations for the baked goods at places where I'm going because of the crafted drinks so I won't say it's the best Matcha cookie in the world, but it had a really good chewy texture and while the Matcha flavor is not strong, you can definitely see a lot of Matcha was used because the color was very prominent. Of course, not too sweet so I would definitely recommend giving it a try. I also got the cardamom bun, which was my first time ever having a cardamom bun so I can't quite say how it compares the texture was good. The flavor was nice. I don't think I like cardamom but I didn't hate the bun so I guess that's a good sign. overall I can't wait to go back again soon.

The matcha had a really good flavor. It's a bit on the earthy side which I really loved. The service was super friendly and quick, the only thing was that it was quite expensive for the size. Other than that it's a good midtown treat!

Cute matcha cafe with pretty good matcha. The cafe was pretty small but had some nice seating and the lighting was nice as well. Service was good as well.

Made my way to the west side to check out Kustom's matcha drinks and was not disappointed!! I got the matcha cortado which featured a deep, intense matcha that was super well mixed. The ratio of milk to matcha was nicely done for a cortado. The honey was a little concentrated at the bottom but it was probs just my fault for not mixing my drink. I really wanted to try their hojicha as well but I was too full. I wanted to get my hands on their matcha cookie they ran out of their baked goods. With all the matcha hype out there, I appreciated how their drinks were more affordable without compromising the matcha quality/amount. The store itself is small without much room for a line or for people waiting. Limited seating but I liked their minimalist aesthetics and green accents. Staff were polite.

This is one of the cutest cafes I've been to! It's tucked away behind the Deli. The barista was so sweet and accommodating to my dairy free request. Instead of their original strawberry matcha latte, I ordered a strawberry matcha lemonade. It was so refreshing! She whisks the matcha in front of you and does not use a matcha syrup for the drink. The lemonade was faint but I am a fan of bitter matcha so it was good. Once I mixed in the strawberry, it was the perfect balance! They told me that they recently opened up and it's been 5 months now. I already see some regulars and I totally see myself coming back to try the pastries they had on display and their yuzu lemonade matcha. My total came out to $7.26 for this drink.

Good quality matcha! Stopped in on a Friday morning before work and the cafe was super cute! Couple of tables to sit but it is small. $7.62 for a matcha latte with almond milk and a pump of vanilla! Staff was super friendly and it was nice to watch the matcha being made in front of you!

super cute spot for a matcha or hojicha!! this cafe is super small with very minimal seating but a great spot for a pick up and go vibe my friend got an iced strawberry hojicha which was so delicious and i got an iced agave matcha latte which i absolutely loved!! would definitely be back to try their strawberry matcha latte next time the barista's were both really nice and helpful when it came to deciding what to order. it is an extra 50 cents for an iced drink and an upcharge for a non dairy milk, so the bill was pricey for two drinks but it was definitely great quality matcha/hojicha

Kustom's matcha latte was a delightful experience from start to finish--the café itself is bright and inviting, with a cozy, neat atmosphere that feels like stepping into a little corner of Japan, dressed in calming whites and greens that mirror their matcha theme. The matcha latte was rich, smooth, and deeply flavorful without being bitter, making it both comforting and indulgent. Everything about the space and the drink felt thoughtfully curated, and it's easily one of the best matcha lattes I've had. I'm definitely coming back. Next time, I'm bringing my sister with me.

I'm so glad that there's a new authentic matcha spot in Hell's Kitchen! It's a small space but there's still a couple tables and my friend and I enjoyed our morning caffeine together there this week. The barista was so nice and helpful, she recommended their koatji milk which is made from oats and fermented rice and it was delicious. They also get their cardamom buns from Balthazar and it went well with my matcha. Will come back here again!

I was at this quaint tea shop east of Koreatown earlier in the evening before going to a meal at the excellent new Thai place, Wanglang. The staff was very friendly, and they specialize in matcha, along with having hojicha, genmaicha, black tea, and sencha. Along with more traditional drinks, they also have fruit options as well as black sugar jelly (I presume kuromitsu) and a Japanese citrus that's not seen much here, hyuganatsu. Along with the citrus, this place is rather unique as they had three different matcha options in terms of variety. As I tend to prefer teas pure and without add-ons, I ordered the Matcha Americano, which is simply matcha and water. I went with the 12-oz version for $6 + tax and ordered the Hajime, though I would likely get the Fuku No Midori next time based on descriptions online. The matcha was solid and had a mild sweetness and a light earthiness. However, it lacked some of the mouth coating found in very high-quality drinks from Sorate or Setsugekka, while being similar in price. Still, that is comparing to some of the best, and this was still very tasty and a lot better than 90% of the places in the city, being more comparable to Kettl. I wouldn't mind going back and ordering the other matcha varietal to see whether that is a better comparison. Outside of this, I enjoyed my drink, and the staff was friendly. I hope they do well.

The space is extremely compact, functioning more like a takeout counter than a café, with only minimal room inside. The main focus here is matcha, with a distinctive approach that lets you choose between three blends: Hinata, which leans creamy and nutty; Hajime, which is more smoky and earthy; and a more traditional-style matcha profile. Drinks like the mango matcha show how they play with these bases, though fruit purées can sometimes overshadow the matcha depending on the combination. They also offer matcha powder for home use and occasional fresh pastries that add a warm, baked aroma to the space. Service is one of the strongest parts of the experience. The staff is consistently warm, attentive, and willing to explain the differences between blends in detail. The atmosphere is cozy but extremely tight, built for short visits rather than lingering. It is not a workspace or hangout café, but more of a quick stop that stands out because of its hospitality and focus on craft. Even in a busy area, it leaves a memorable impression through its matcha quality and genuinely personable service.

Located inside Hashi Market, we walked into a space that feels less like a typical café and more like discovering a hidden Japanese food stop while browsing through the store. The setup is simple but has a unique appeal, the kind of place that works well for a quick drink, dessert, or something to take with you while exploring the area. The connection to the market adds a layer of discovery that makes the visit feel more interesting, and the compact, functional design keeps the focus on the quality of the matcha rather than the surroundings. The matcha offerings are the main highlight, especially for anyone who enjoys a stronger and more authentic matcha flavor. We tried the matcha latte and appreciated that the matcha taste was noticeable rather than being overwhelmed by sweetness. The flavor had a deeper earthy quality, which made it stand out from many sweeter matcha drinks that focus more on milk and syrup. Their matcha ice cream and matcha soft serve also seem to be popular choices, and the desserts lean more toward showcasing the matcha itself instead of just using it as a flavoring. What we liked about Fujiissa is that the menu feels more creative than the standard matcha lineup. Along with traditional options, they have more unique combinations like matcha cold foam drinks and other specialty creations. The matcha affogato is especially appealing for matcha lovers because it highlights both the creamy ice cream texture and the concentrated matcha flavor together. The service was another positive part of the visit. The staff were friendly and helpful with recommendations, which made it easier to decide what to try. Since the space is connected to a Japanese market, it is also a nice place to browse before or after getting a drink rather than being only a quick grab-and-go stop. Fujiissa is a great spot for anyone looking for matcha that has a stronger flavor and a more Japanese-inspired feel. It is not the place to recommend if you prefer very sweet dessert-style matcha, but for people who enjoy the actual taste of matcha, the drinks and desserts are worth checking out. The combination of the market setting, unique menu options, and quality matcha makes it a memorable stop, offering a matcha experience that feels both authentic and thoughtful without overcomplicating what it sets out to do.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! FYI - there are two unisex restrooms in the rear for customers to use with really cute wallpapers too.

We walked into a space where the interior is one of the biggest highlights, featuring floral décor, chandeliers, and cozy seating that gives the room a refined yet comfortable atmosphere. Despite being in the middle of Koreatown, it feels like a quiet escape from the busy streets outside, with a calm, polished energy that makes it equally suitable for catching up with friends, celebrating a special occasion, or simply relaxing with dessert. The menu offers an extensive variety of teas alongside cakes, soufflés, waffles, and afternoon tea sets. We ordered the crepe cakes, particularly the matcha and purple yam varieties, both of which were among the standout desserts. The matcha crepe had a clean, earthy flavor that balanced well with the cream, while the purple yam offered a sweeter, more indulgent profile. The soufflés and lava cakes provide warmer options for those looking for something more substantial, and the tea selection is equally impressive, ranging from classic loose-leaf teas to milk teas and fruit-infused blends, allowing plenty of combinations to pair with desserts or light meals. There are also savory options like sandwiches and small plates, making it more than just a dessert café and giving the menu a broader appeal for a full afternoon tea experience. The atmosphere encourages lingering rather than rushing through a meal. Service is generally friendly, and the presentation of both the drinks and desserts adds to the experience. The café can become busy during afternoons and weekends, especially for afternoon tea service, so a short wait before being seated is not unusual. Once inside, however, the spacious layout and relaxed pace make it easy to settle in and take your time with the menu. Prince Tea House Ktown stands out as one of the better dessert cafés in the area thanks to its combination of beautiful décor, extensive tea selection, and well-executed desserts. It feels like a destination rather than simply a place to grab something sweet, and it is an easy recommendation for anyone looking to enjoy afternoon tea, celebrate a special occasion, or take a break while exploring Koreatown.
