Dishonest business and a scam!!! They use tactics to keep customers on their contracts longer than agreed, and the cancellation process is extremely frustrating. Three days before my one-year contract ended, I called to cancel and specifically asked to ensure I would not be charged again. Instead of processing the cancellation, I was offered a coupon and told I must call back on the exact contract end date, or I would be charged a cancellation fee. When I called one day after contract ended, I discovered they had already charged me additional month of service the day right after my previous call. Customer service then blamed me for not calling on the exact end date and refused to issue a refund. A supervisor later offered a $20 discount if I agreed to extend the service beyond the contract term, stating that only then could the overcharge be refunded. I declined, as I only wanted the service for one year. The refund was then refused. This experience felt misleading and unfair. I would not recommend this company based on how they handle cancellations and billing. read more

I actually need an exterminator -- and I still wouldn't do business with this company if they were the last bug-squashers on Earth. Let's set the scene: I've got a very clear "NO SOLICITING" sign on my door. Not in fine print. Not hidden behind a bush. Front and center, bold letters. This guy strolls up like he's never seen a door in his life and rings anyway -- during naptime, no less. Bold move when there's a toddler inside whose emotional state is held together by one granola bar and a Bluey episode. I told him now wasn't a good time, and he said he wasn't here to sell anything. You know what happened next? He started selling something. Either he's a liar or he thinks a pitch doesn't count if he smiles through it like a used car in khakis. He clearly didn't understand -- or care -- that I was wrangling a meltdown in progress while also trying not to melt down myself. And the kicker? I genuinely need pest control help. This is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. They keep customers on contacts and make it impossible to discontinue services. I had to wait an entire year to finally be able to cancel with them and you can only do it by calling them. They also don't allow you to remove your payment method, so you really have no control of your account or payments. I told them I didn't want their services and they told me someone had to come out even though I wanted nothing to do with them. They said they would discount the charge (for the service I didn't want) and they ended giving me a credit even though they new I was going to cancel my account. They make you call them on a specific day to cancel probably with hope you don't do it and they will lock you into another contract. I have had to spend so much of my time dealing with these people. After being told clearly that I was not interested, he continued to stand on my porch and talk after I went in my house. They say their products are safe, but after 2 treatments ( the technicians knowing full well we have pets that utilize the yard), and waiting a day to let the product dry, my pets are experiencing allergic skin reactions that my veterinarian says are environmental (likely due to the chemicals used). Customer service was unhelpful, rude, and nonexistent, and very resistant to us canceling our plan due to this. Addendum to original text: I had hoped the company would do the right thing, but their actions are geared towards offering an apology and not looking into the issue. Reminder, they are supposed to register with the village. They did not. They are supposed to follow the village's rules for solicitors. They did not. She said someone would call me back within 24 hours. it has now been 96 hours. Attempts to reach her again have been unsuccessful. Predatory service. Had a contract with them, after my last service on the contract the guy invited me to renew my contract, I declined. We confirmed I'm discontinuing service. But I continued to get appointment messages and guys showing up, and I'd have to tell them I cancelled. They said I'd only be charged if they went through with the service...looked at my account and i WAS charged for that visit. After months of this, getting yet another text of a guy saying he's on his way, I texted saying I've cancelled this long ago. My contract ended, I keep telling you guys this, etc. He informs me it's not cancelled unless I call some 800 #. After discontinuing the service in person and months of convos about not wanting this service anymore as people came, this is the first time an 800 # is mentioned. I don't recommend this company. For a visit that is 5 minutes long, they charge me $130. The contract was a confusing contract that was not ethical. They also freeze my credit card information and continue to schedule service and bill you for services. I had some ants in the yard that I wanted to get taken care of. So far I have paid for four visits, and then they are forcing a fifth visit, which I didn't want, since it is not effective, but they continue to force it, citing that my contract was for five visits. When I challenged their contract, they deleted my account and sent me a bill of $199 for canceling the contract. I talked to the customer service and the supervisor; the supervisor/manager was very rude. I wish I had read the reviews before hiring them. Later I checked consumer reports and found multiple complaints about them. I agree with Ian D. They are a predatory pest control service and manipulative and will hide the fact. It's pretty much a fraud. Have been with them for around 7 months before I cancelled. Also keep in mind to cancel they will charge you as their initial service is ~$300 they they waive if you sign the contract. We had problems with ants and they not only serviced a few times on schedule but also came multiple times outside of schedule with zero effect. Their service is not worth what they are charging. The number of times they service your property is far more than what I expected. I was told that the amount I would be paying would be far less than what I was paying with the current company I was using. I noticed more ants in my lawn than I had before I had started with Aptive. I contracted for yellow jacket removal, paid over $300 and was assured that they would get rid of the yellow jackets. They didn't! I called back to have them complete the job they didn't do and they told me that it was a one-time contract. If I wanted a follow up I would need to pay for another service even though they failed to complete the initial service. The technician that did the service assured me that he could eliminate the yellow jackets. I really believe that he know that he couldn't since they were in the eves of the roof, not an open hive.
