My service with Aptive started off rough. A good friend of mine referred me to them. He said he has used them for years and was happy with their service. On my first date I scheduled a service window from 4-6 pm. This is where the problem started. The technician sent me a text around 3 pm saying he was five minutes away. I told him I was just leaving work and would be there by 4. When I got home at 4 I received a text from Aptive around 4:15 saying the tech came and there was no one home. Needless to say I was not happy. I called customer service ready to cancel but they convinced me to give them a second try. On the second time they redeemed themselves. My technician James showed up in my service window at 5. He was great. He walked me through my home and explained every step of the process. He was more than willing to answer all of my questions. He thoroughly explained my service plan and made sure I was comfortable. After he was finished with my treatment he was on his way home. Even though I was his last appointment for the day he didn't rush the job at all. Thanks to him they earned the 5 stars. I will see how the bugs look in the future but so far I am pleased. read more

Despite multiple visits, the only treatment they provided was spraying outside and setting traps, which did not resolve the issue -- at one point, I had hundreds of wasps inside the house. When I called for help, a technician repeated the same surface treatment. I asked if they could remove the nest, and he said he wasn't licensed to do that. What made the situation even more frustrating was the office manager's response. During the call, he accused me of being condescending and repeatedly blamed me for the issue. His tone was rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. I recorded the call because it was shocking how unprofessional it was. After weeks of ineffective service and poor communication, I decided to pay the $200 cancellation fee just to end the contract. Bottom line: Ineffective service, unprofessional behavior, and blame-shifting. Save your time and money -- look elsewhere. read more

Once you sign the agreement, they immediately demand payment even if the promised services were never provided. After signing, the salesperson stopped responding completely. I needed a pest control company to control earwigs and carpenter ants outside of my house. We went from having carpenter ants in the yard to having dozens and dozens of carpenter ants crawling all over inside the house. They took a problem and made it worse than it was. Do not feel pressured by the door-to-door salesperson because they are not an effective pest control company and their rates are not as competitive as other companies regardless of how much they say they are taking off. He did his talk and found out the price was 160/month for their contract. That was more than I was willing to pay, especially for some random company I'd never heard of, so I told him no. "What if I drop the first session down to..." Again, told him no. I knew I wasn't going to sign up, so I asked him to leave. At least not by them as soon as I cleaned the roach bait out of the traps and added peanut butter BOOM just like that, I caught 5 mice in one day and my issue was resolved. Used to be a decent pest control company, but seemed to become deceptive over the last year, as well as not doing everything they were supposed to do. My last service caused me to end my contract, although the manager I spoke to in order to cancel, used vague language and in the end said they'd still contact me every 3 months. I told him I do not want to hear from them again, and he was still dancing around it! The last service I received left my pets in danger, as they used a product all over my backyard that I'd asked them not to use. After 2 hours of conversation with different customer service people, they could not assure me it was safe. The pellets they used were loaded all over the backyard, and from what I read they need to be wetted down in order to not be dangerous to pets. I spent 4 hours trying to wash this away and allowed to drive. I was told the Service manager could answer my questions, but he was "unreachable" on weekends. I'm done with this company and advised them I would nor be paying for t b at last "service." I was transferred to another extension to address that, and was only able to leave a voice message. I contracted with them for bug management and was told they would spray for mosquitos, remove cobwebs and remove wasp nests. They failed to remove 3 obvious cobwebs and a wasp nest near the front door and am not confident they sprayed properly in my house and had to hire another pest control company to do the work. I don't like giving bad reviews, but when the salesperson from this company came to my house to try and sell me services, the tactics he was taught were all wrong and really pissed me off. I told him that I called a local service that's a member of my Chamber of Commerce and after I had to explain to him what a Chamber was, all he did was bash the other company and tell me how they don't do the things that Aptive does. The sad thing is, I never mentioned the name of the other company. Whenever I told him no, he kept dropping the price and trying to get me to commit right away, even after explaining to him that I always research a company first. The guy tells me he'll be back at 8 that evening to see if I changed my mine after I told him no and if I do change my mind, I would text him. I'll be damned if he didn't show back up at 7:45 PM and keep ringing the doorbell. I was not going to waste my time with him again so I didn't answer. Train your sales team properly, and explain to them that your Google rating is not 4.8 and has a lot of false reviews and your Yelp rating is only 2.3. read more

I've had nothing but great experiences with Aptive. My wife and I first moved into our new build November of 2022. We were having issues with roaches. Seems if they had transferred over from our previous apartment in College Park, MD. Initially, we hired a local pest control company, Fogle Pest Control, whom seemed to do the bare minimum when it came to pest control. We stayed with Fogle for about a half to a three quarters of the year when we were approached by a sales person from Aptive offering their services. I told him of the issues we were continuing to have even with pest control in our home and he was able to quickly tell me what type of roaches we had, what routine treatment Aptive could provide to assist me with my issue, as well as offered to get me out of my current contract with Fogle. Aptive got me out of the contract as well as exterminated our roach problem. Something I thought could not be fixed. In addition, we recently had a mouse problem in which mouse got in through the garage. I brought this to the attention of Aptive during a recent visit and showed them where I was noticing the most activity. Aptive laid traps and the mouse was caught the very next morning. I love the fact that they listen to their client, are reasonably priced, and are very knowledgeable about pest control. For instance, the exterminator that came out to help with the mouse control previously had his own pest control business in D.C. and if you've ever seen those DC rats they're similar to New York rats in size and thinking the city belongs to them. Aptive somehow talked my elderly mother into signing up with them for pest control even though they did not operate in her area at the time. I saw 13 monthly payments of $75 in her bank statement so I contacted them. They said they would refund the money, but only refunded one month's worth ($75). After 5 months, were are still waiting for the remaining $900. Aptive's aggressive sales tactics have been reported on several websites and the cause for lawsuits in some parts of the country. We filed a complaint through the Better Business Bureau to help our situation. I want to make sure people are aware that Aptive may provide quality extermination, but they also use questionable methods for sales. read more

Contracted with this company for 18 months, and we are canceling after 5. We contracted for ants and mosquitos, and after months, nothing has changed. The company does not provide a time frame for appointments, leaving consumers to wait all day. They also move/cancel appointments with no communication to the consumer. Our last appointment was canceled by a tech in the middle of the day, and we only found out because we called at 5:30 to ask when the tech would be here. So unprofessional. Just not interested in pest control thank you very much. -Yes he was very pushy and wouldn't leave my porch despite me saying it wasn't a good time several times. He came back at 9:15pm -I was roped into Aptive last year by a pushy and fast-talking salesguy named Dallas. Their customer service is lacking, they show up whenever they feel like and treatments after the initial discounted one is fairly expensive. After all that, I'm still dealing with mosquitos and flying insects in my backyard. I'd avoid Aptive if at all possible. -I was talking to him through the Ring and after I insisted I wanted to see a quote via email before agreeing to any services he literally ran from my porch back to his hoverboard and scooted away without a goodbye. Strange interaction. -We have a no soliciting sign next to our front door, as do most of the neighbors, and they still knock on the door and give you the hard sell. read more

Came to my front door and verbally offered a good deal. First service they showed 6 hours late and didn't perform some of the tasks they said they would. The verbal offer was a lie and wasnt even close to the contract. The contract was $300 to get out of, over $800 to stay. This company is dishonest in the beginning then collects cancel fees for profit. Hard lesson to me to check reviews and read contracts for any new company. Also, the chemical they most often use (Permethrin) is 10-30$ to buy at hardware stores. Only have to apply once a year to be effective. read more

I had an appointment on this date for the time frame 1-5 with an hour call. "Antonio called me at 1:52 PM, stated he was in the area and would be there shortly." One hour went by and I called Antonio back, he said he got caught up do I want to reschedule? I hired Aptive to treat my yard for fleas and ticks using insecticide granules. They required either a credit card information, or my bank account information, so they could automatically bill me. Aptive's technician came and spread the granules ONLY on the perimeter of the front yard, and the perimeter of the back yard. I complained to the technician about the lack ot total yard coverage, and the MEAGER amount of granules distributed, and he only gave me excuses. I tried to leave feedback on the poor service I received, but the online feedback form was rather complicated. I tried to send an email to the person who set up my Aptive account, but he was no help at all. He works in Sales, and has zero concern about customer satisfaction. I obtained the customer service phone number, but got no help there either. Aptive contacted me about a later appointment (which they automaticlly set up without getting any input from me). On that same day, I emailed Aptive to inform them that I did NOT want the upcoming yard treatment. They came and did the next day's yard treatment ANYWAY, in spite of my attempt to cancel. I continued complaining to Aptive, but they basically ignored my complaints. I went to the bank that issued me the credit card, and had the credit card cancelled. Now Aptive is threatening to turn me over to a collection agency. The only good news, is that I found a LOCAL company that did an EXCELLENT job of treating my yard. Aptive tech came on my property and sprayed my herb and pollinator garden with Bifen destroying it. I did not request this service. I reached out to Aptive, they said they would replace the garden. They provided me with a contact to send estimates. Suddenly, the contact they provided disappeared. (the email and phone number no longer work) I reached out again to the headquarters in Utah. I was given a different email and contact information from a new person who was "devoted to helping me". I sent him the estimates. He disappeared as well. I took them to small claims and Aptive did not show up. Now I have to file a default judgment and hope to get reimbursed to fix my herb and pollinator garden. read more

They are unprofessional and rude. Their salesman has came multiple days in a row ringing the doorbell and knocking at least twice both times. My husband answered and told him we were not interested (just like last yr) and that he didn't have time to talk to him. Meanwhile our two year old was crying at his legs and our dog was barking like crazy. The guy just kept going and trying to sell and ask questions. Don't be fooled by their extremely polished sales pitches, extremely personable service techs, and smooth talking employees in general, because underlying this is an overpriced and very questionable service. Btw I seem to have more insects now since Aptive began treatments! Additionally, no one could really explain in detail what their treatments were derived from (ie what harm might it cause to say other wild birds/animals in the life cycle). And communicating with Aptive is absolutely awful, as their "automated" comms via texts/emails/phone messages are basically in an endless loop that gets you nowhere. Once finally through to customer service to cancel my service, Aptive was willing to cut their service calls by over 20% to keep me as a customer. And although I had to pay a cancellation penalty, I'm thankful NOT to have to deal with Aptive ever again. read more

This is 4 hours after I received an email from the technician stating he dewebb and removed all spiders...along with the removal of a "wasp nest." I called to cancel my serviced with Aptive but have to wait till I receive my next service call in January for $119 and then will have to call back again to cancel or pay $199 cancelation fee. For all I know, the technician threw a sign up in my yard and a door tag on my front door and walked away. Dallas Crane knocked on my door back in April the day after my dog died. The hustler appeared in a no solicitation neighborhood on his wheelie contraption and knocks on the window a foot or two away from the door. When I answer it he was not particularly deterred by my German Shepherd who was not happy to see him. He was not wearing the mask and I doubt he was vaccinated. He did not want to take no for an answer and wants to come back at 8 to try again with my spouse. I told him that we already had pest control and I let him know he shouldn't return if he valued his legs - and let him know my other dog was even bigger..... Yesterday (June 9, 2021), two individuals from Aptive Pest Control in Hanover PA (part of Aptive Environmental) illicitly gained access to our gated community by lying about who they were coming in to see. They were told at the gate to turn around and leave, but entered the community and violated HOA rules and regulations by going door-to-door, soliciting lawn care and pest control contracts. Unfortunately, one resident contracted with their company, likely encouraging this dishonest behavior in the future. If this is the way they train representatives of their company, they should be ashamed of themselves. It is also likely illegal, and should be reported to local police. A friendly salesman came to our door and my husband signed up. He was sold on the idea of pest control using low-toxicity chemicals (pyerithrins). However, I didn't like signing up for a mandatory two-year term. More concerning, there was contradictory language in the contract about how often they would come and how often we would be charged. When he asked the company for clarification, they said they would clarify it when the contract went through. Never sign a contract until you are satisfied with all the terms. Fortunately, we were within the 72-hour cancellation window. He texted the salesman who confirmed the contract was cancelled, and he also mailed a letter. Hopefully, that will be the end of it. read more
