We went into this lunch wanting that delicious looking OMCheese burger. Lots of runny cheese with the burger on the middle. What we got was a burger cut on half sitting in burnt cheese on the bottom of the pan. To add insult to injury, the fries we barely warm and tough. I sat at the bar as there was a 45 minute wait for a table although an entire section was empty. When I asked why, I was told there were not enough servers to cover that section. People at the bar were loud and drank a lot. Made my meal less than pleasing. Food was ok. I ordered a shrimp salad although it was not on the menu but I saw it on their website. What a horrible experience all around. Don't get me wrong, my family LOVES Applebees. DO NOT go to this location. This poor kid was out of his depth clearly. Nice kid, just very slow. Chips and queso took at least 20 minutes. Couldn't get any ketchup because the waiter was gone. A couple kids from a few tables down gave us some ketchup packets, thankfully. Didn't have any silverware, had to hunt one down from the manager...who was standing there just chatting with a waitress. He could have been helping his team, but he'd rather stand there and look like a meth addict. And got the shrimp bowl which I have had 100 times. This thing wasn't right. Hardly any pesto on there (less than a spoonful), it tasted horribly bland. My kid's cheeseburger was gnarly dude. Worst restaurant experience in Santa Fe, hands down. I ordered my steak WELL DONE and it came out basically raw, pink as hell and absolutely disgusting. One bite and I was done. unfortunately, I've had this problem multiple times I found hair in my food, different times different periods of the year. Every time I try to give Applebee's a second chance they always let me down either with their service, a few months ago, my sister and I decided to go to Applebee's. She has two little kids under five , and the host or the person that greeted us was rude to us , my nephew was crying, and the host proceeded to give my sister and her son a dirty look, look up disgust , she had zero manners. This time (just like other times) I found a hair in my food which I think is disgusting. They are not hygienic. I don't know if it was a service here a host or the cooks but they are being careful. I'll start by saying our server was great. I ordered the new OM cheeseburger, I wanted it medium rare and the server said that they'll make it pink but not warmer than that and I said I want it as warm as possible and she said it had something to do with the health department even though every other restaurant that I go to in town will gladly make a medium rare burger and very crispy French fries. so I also ordered French fries extra crispy and she made some excuse that they only have one fryer not a double fryer I said tell him to leave it in the longer. It came back with the burger as well done as you could possibly get it practically crispy on the edges with hardly any of the cheese that they advertise and the French fries were barely fried. My Grandson had the grilled cheese cheeseburger and the same problem was with that one too it was fried to a crisp and very little cheese. I walked in to the Applebees in Albuquerque New Mexico at2 711 Coors Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM on Friday, Jan. 26th with my wife around 4:30pm. We waited a few minuted before someone finally approached us with menus at the front door. We kindly asked if we could sit on the far end of the restaurant by the windows (it looked quieter over there). The server/hostess brought us to our table and that was the last we ever saw of an Applebees employee. 5 minutes went by... 10 minutes went by... 15 minutes went by... ...and now its close to 20 minutes and not a server in sight. My disabled and diabetic wife was feeling ill and she needed to eat and quickly. We tried to make eye-contact with someone (anyone!) who worked there but it was pointless. We put our jackets on and (slowly) walked out. We're an older couple and with a younger crowd there, well, to this day we were wondering if no one wanted to take our order because of our age. Quite ridiculous and we've been to this Applebees multiple times before with no problems. This is the first time in Albuquerque that we've walked out of a restaurant because no one would take our order. They didn't look THAT busy and I would guess that half the restaurant was empty actually. We've written the Home Office and are still waiting for some kind of response. I'm sure it'll be a copy and paste answer about how they'll "try better" and "learn from this" but that doesn't help our ruined night. went to the Applebees on lomas, sat in a high top in the bar area, wasn't busy, the server took 10 minutes just to come by and get my drink order just got water, ordered my food right away since I had already looked at the menu in the time i was waiting to be greeted, took another 10 minutes to get my water as server kept walking by and to the back empty handed... guessing he just isn't cut out for serving as you have to be great at multitasking. This was the absolute worst place we could have chosen for tonight. The place was basically empty when we got there with a party of 5. The waiter was new and had no idea what to do. It took him 20 minutes to get our drinks and forgot the waters. Three guys got their meal after 40 minutes. They were done when the fourth meal came the table which was barely warm. What can I say? It's Applebee's. The chicken was surprisingly moist and juicy. Not dry at all! The BBQ beef tacos were delicious! And the fries came out hot, fresh and crispy. Bad fries can really mess up a good meal. My only critique: what's up with the doors in the ladies bathroom? One door lock jammed and the poor girl got out just before full panic set in. I also tried ordering a drink with my temporary and prior ID, and he couldn't approve of it because of all these "House Rules." Mind you, I've never experienced this issue before at any other restaurant. A friend tried ordering two drinks and he said he couldn't double stack because of "House Rules." All of these things coupled together makes someone familiar with business logistics and flow realize how dysfunctional kitchen and staff are. I don't recommend coming here for a fun time, and good food - especially if you have a family with children. I won't be returning, nor recommending any friends or family.
