We had a delightful waitress. I got just an appetizer - wonton chicken tacos. Yum. My husband got the strawberry salad which was more than he could eat so he left a lot of the lettuce. We splurged and shared a dessert that was warm and sweet with vanilla ice cream. Lots of TV's with several different football games showing. Very entertaining for my husband. read more

After several stops in the last month, service is just generally very slow. The first stop, we waited 55 minutes for main and 30 for drinks!! Second stop was slightly faster, and third was a little better. Food was good, just don't stop here if you're starving, the bathrooms are clean! read more

The way the printed menu is written is a bit misleading. This pertains mainly to what entres have how many sides available. Server informed us that, even though the heading stated two sides, there was only one entre in that column that came with two sides. Server stated that she too was confused but that she would add the second side this time. Manager came out and cracked the code on the menu. We understand. Then the manager over road the server and said we could get the second side unless we paid for it. Applebee's just lost 3 regulars. Sad. Kuddoe's to Melissa though. Worst service ever! Waitress flat out nasty to an elderly couple. Threw menus and her writing pen to the floor because the elderly couple that walked in picked up their own menus because she wasn't working the front. No one else was in the restaurant but us and the elderly couple so they weren't busy. Waitress only would give us a dinner menu and pay dinner prices during lunch hour. We asked for the lunch menu and she went and got one and tossed it on our table. Needless to say, we paid for our drinks and walked out. Let me just say, I went to this location years ago and it was HORRIBLE. We had attempted to go back 2 more times, but ended up walking out before even being greeted. We recently found out that the old manager, who was a jerk, no longer works there. Great! I'll give the location another try. So today when the kids said they were hungry instead of heading to McDonald's after church we headed there. I have to tell you Angela and the rest of her staff were super friendly and great. We had 2 hiccups with our meal and they were fixed quickly. Now we have another place we can add to our choices on Sunday. read more

This is a medium rare steak. I placed an online order at 5:30PM to be picked up at 7:00PM. I arrive on time, was not greeted by anyone for the first 5 minutes in the building. Didn't receive my food until 7:15PM and when I got back to my hotel u was greeted by this. Couldn't finish it because it also didn't taste right. Totally Ridiculous!!! Visited this Applebee's 5/29/2021. We were seated quickly considering it was round dinner hour. Waited 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order (Lemonade and Sweet Tea). Finally got our drinks after another 10 minutes. Waitress took our food order when she brought our drinks. So we are already 30 minutes in...that should have been our que to get up and leave. Waited 70 minutes after we put our food order in....still no food. Could have at least brought our appetizer while we waited for our dinners. By this time the restaurant was not busy at all. I looked out the window and saw an Arby's across the street. Arby's got our business that evening. After waiting 70 minutes for our food we finally just got up and walked out. I understand most restaurants are short staffed right now. But we should have been told before we were seated that it was going to take over an hour to receive our food. Very disappointed!!!! We were visiting from out of town. Thought Applebee's would be a good choice since we were not familiar with the area. We used to eat at Applebee's often as we traveled. Not so much any more. The service and quality of food is certainly not like it used to be a few years ago. I think I will be sticking Applebee's from our lists of places to eat while traveling or at home. read more

My husband and I were arguing about where to eat . He wanted to go to Applebee's and I did not because the food is always the same and I get tired of it. He won, we went, and it was absolutely the best dinner I've ever had at an applebee's or any place like It. The staff is always extremely wonderful there and I wish I could name all the girl's names, However I have to give a shout out to Hunter who was cooking that night. I am thinking perhaps this location was having an off day. We were seated quickly. It Took the waitress 3 tries to bring forks, menus, and appetizer plates (3 separate trips). After we ordered, our meal was not delivered at one time. One person received the full meal 30 minutes before anyone else. Then the kids meal was delivered on the oddest manner. First the corn dog, 10 minutes later the fries (side for the corn dog) arrived. Same for the other kids meal, except the fries were delivered as we were getting ready to leave. I finally received my Meal about 30 minutes after the first person received their meal. The sirloin was very fatty and tough. I have never eaten anywhere where the food was delivered at different times including the sides. We ordered a large to-go and they attempted to bring it to our table! Took another 15 Minutes to "pack it". It was missing a side item. It will be a long time before I visit this location again. read more

this is by the far the worst restaurant i have ever eaten at. not only did it take 30+ minutes to receive my food, but by the time it arrived at the table, it was cold. my chicken was rubbery, dry, thin, and quite frankly disgusting. i know coke addicts that can grill a better piece of chicken than that in less time. my mac and cheese felt like it was straight from hoth and half of the shredded dollar tree cheese was unmelted. the sauce had no real flavor and the bacon it came with made me want to go vegan again. the steamed broccoli was good, but then again, it's hard to go wrong with that. read more

Took forever to get food, and the service is B.S. it is horrible and I never coming to this Applebees ever again.

Despite decent food, the sub-par service only warrants a 1-star overall review because our dining experience was ruined and we won't ever be coming back... Here's the "highlight" reel: upon our arrival, we told the waitress that the table was sticky but she blamed it on the humidity and didn't even attempt to wipe it down... Food took 30 minutes to come out (it was just a chicken wrap with fries) and the fries were cold; when we informed the waitress, she copped an attitude and stomped off to have the kitchen fry up another serving... Found a hair in the condiment cup of dressing that came with the wrap and, again, the waitress acted as of she was being put out when we asked to swap it out for another... At no time were we ever rude or discourteous, we simply brought the issues to her attention but were continuously met with nasty reactions, which was entirely unacceptable. read more

They told me it be 15 minutes to wait for a table and ask for my cell phone number and ask wait. So I gave my name and number and waited in my car. Well more people was going in but not coming back and outside to wait. A lot more people was going in. After a hour waiting I went in and they acted like they care and told me that didn't have a waiting list. I can not recommend this restaurant until someone in management looks what is wrong and fix it. Worst. Experience. Ever. This is getting a one star because I can't do zero stars. And I didn't even get to eat there. Walked in and was "greeted" with "we're on a wait right now." No "welcome to Applebee's", no so sorry, not even a hello...I ask for the wait time and am told 20 minutes. I say ok, as they're the only sit down restaurant around our hotel. The hostess gives me a look that clearly is distaste or shock that I'm willing to wait. There are open tables...several of them, but we're waiting. About 5 minutes later a family of 3 comes in. They are seated immediately at one of the open tables. And that was the end of my Applebee's experience. Never again. read more

My friend and I came here last night and once we were seated we waited for 15 minutes for a server to come. At that point, we used the tablet on the table to call a server. The tablet flashed for another five minutes, but no one ever even came to take our drink order after those twenty minutes... so we left. I come up to galax fairly often and any local residents know that there is not much choice in a small town like galax where I'm from we have a very good apple bees so I suggested one evening that we go to Applebee's well we went there and let's just say it was not very good at all .servers rarely come by to check on you and food is so so. The waitress was outstanding. She did her best, but the bottom line is she had nothing to work with. We entered the restaurant around 12:40 pm on a recent Sunday. There were seven of us; the restaurant was not busy and we were seated immediately. The waitress quickly took our drink orders and returned with them. We ordered, and then waited ... and waited ... and waited. The waitress was apologetic and tried her best to keep our drinks filled. An hour and a half later we were ready to give up and pay for our drinks to go find another restaurant when the meals arrived ... just salads, sandwiches and nothing complicated whatsoever. The meals were not well prepared ... cold but way overcooked grilled shrimp, missing salad dressings, a sandwich wrap that was dried up and apparently broken in half rather than cut in half. We asked to talk with the manager. She never really did apologize for the poor service or the poor quality of the meals, although she did offer to replace several of the items we ordered. We were not interested in waiting another hour and a half. We also noticed that we were not the only table with issues. Others were waiting as long as we did and another group that had been there when we arrived was having a disagreement over the charges on their bill. We were given a 20 percent discount on our bill but we thought the manager should have apologized and done more to resolve our situation. This may have been an isolated incident with an inexperienced manager and a cooking crew in training, but during the time we were there it was not a "happy" restaurant. Bottom line is simple ... we will not eat at this restaurant again. We hope the waitress finds a better place to work where her skills could really be appreciated. read more

Food was expensive and not very good. And it took like forever till they ever brought our food out.

Made the mistake of eating here last weekend with a friend. When we went in we saw there were only about 8 or 10 other customers. We figured we would be in and out fairly quickly. WRONG! It took almost 10 minutes to just be seated. Then a waitress came to the table and asked what we would like to drink. We both said UN sweetened tea. The menus are already on the table so she left. She returned very quickly with our tea and left. We already knew what we wanted but she didn't stay long enough to tell her. We waited and waited. My friend took a drink of his tea and said it was sweet tea. I took a drink of mine and it was sweet also. We kept looking for the waitress to get her attention. Finally she came back and we told her the tea was supposed to be un sweet. She did take our order and said she would bring more tea. We waited and waited and she finally brought us un sweet tea. Another 10 minutes or so passed and she finally brought our food. We had been there for close to 45 minutes. The food we ordered was actually not that bad. When we finished we asked for the bill and was very surprised to see it was for several dollars more than what we expected according to the menu prices. There were extra charges for the sides for our meals. When we asked the waitress why that was she said the sides we got did not come the the meal we ordered. We asked her why the menu did now say that. She said it does. We handed her the menu and said show us where it says that. She took the menu looked at for a good while and said she thought it did but she didn't see it. We had to pay the extra. Needless to say we will NOT ever go back. Just my two cents worth! read more

We are locals but rarely dine here (basically because of the price and I have never been a fan of their menu). We came in today because we had a coupon for a free entree. I was tickled to see $1.50 Margaritas all day/everyday so I tried one of those. My husband ordered the sizziling sirloin which he loved. I ordered the 6oz sirlion and it was ok. The staff brought our plates out and asked us to cut into them to make sure they were cooked to our liking. This must be something restaurants are doing now..I've never seen this before but I don't eat a lot of steak out either. I had "bacon and cheese potatoes" and four cheese macaroni with my meal. My potatoes were hardly bacon and cheese. They came with 4 or 5 bacon bits and 4 shreds of shredded cheese. But they were good. The macaroni tasted off and I was upcharged .50 for it for it being a signature item. Now let's get to the margarita. Even if it says they are only $1.50...skip it. It's way too sweet! Their mix is horrible. I should have realized it when it came out that funky color. Next time I will take them up on their $1.50 Coors or Miller Lite. We sat in the bar area and service was decent. I wish she would have checked on us when our meal was brought out to check on refills and condiments. read more
