We have become regulars here. Love this place. This is the first time I have tried the shrimp and grits. It is possibly the best I have ever had. Highly recommend! My husband had the glazed salmon and really enjoyed it.

Our server was on it with drink refills and getting our courses to the table well timed. We started with a half loaf of bread, which was good. The half garden salads were excellent and a decent size. I appreciated being able to order just oil and vinegar. The hubs had bbq flank steak sandwich, which he really loved. I had the lemon encrusted trout. Perfectly crusted, moist and piping hot. Delicious! All the staff were very attentive and checked in on us.

Grilled chicken dinner

Holy cow what a great meal! We visit Fries, Va twice a year to enjoy hiking, biking and kayaking and this time we tried the Fries Dam Steakhouse. I ordered the trout dinner and my wife ordered the apple cider grilled chicken. It was Saturday night and the hostess warned us about the likely long wait, so we weren't expecting super fast service. Almost an hour to the minute of placing our order, the food arrived. All I can say is that it was fresh, hot and incredibly delicious! Also, our waitress was very attentive and made sure our drinks (water) were always topped off. We're not ones easily impressed by food but we know it when we get it... and when we don't. Last year we ate at a neighboring restaurant and it was simply awful. I can happily report that Fries now has a high quality, fairly priced restaurant that has amazing food!! We can't wait to go back!

Such an amazing experience! Our server was very welcoming…read moreand interactive and funny. It was a bit busy so we expected a slight delay on drinks/food, but our server kept checking on us every few minutes and kept our drinks full. The atmosphere/design is very unique and offers great talking points for the table. You can look around and always find something new you haven't seen before. For food, I got the French dip, my husband got the fried catfish, and mom got the smash burger. Food was EXCELLENT. The au jus from the French dip was not overly salty as I've had in the past, and it was the perfect amount for the sandwich. Not like other places that will either give you a big tub of au jus or ever a small saucer cup. After lunch, we walked around as they have a shopping area inside with soaps, handmade pottery/kitchenware, and local vendor products such as hatch chile cream cheese and pickled vegetables. Price was very favorable too and didn't seem to be overly priced where the business/vendor up charges significantly to make a huge profit. Definitely worth stopping by even if you only have time for Togo coffee, a snack, of just to shop around!

Tucked away in the hills of Draper, the Mercantile and Trading Company restaurant is in a remodeled restaurant that used to be a post office. It is reminiscent of a Cracker Barrel but with more style, pizzazz and variety of products available, from stationery to kitchen gadgets to homemade chocolates. The server seated us and was very attentive to our needs. From the bottomless coffee to the follow-up order for one of those homemade biscuits, our server made us feel like we were her only customer! We loved this! Our family ordered the eggs, bacon and toast, as well as a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, the granola parfait with berries, and the kid-sized omelette with a side of sausage patties. The portions were large and no one was left wanting for more food. We had to try the biscuit, so we sampled parts of it but ended up getting most of it "to go." The flavor reminded me of the biscuits my mom used to make when I was a kid. Delicious! We highly recommend this restaurant and know you will find a little bit of something for everyone here. The restaurant has plenty of room for all diners, inside or on the large wraparound porch. The food is served in large portions and the service is second to none. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in the area.

We also tried the teriyaki chicken wings which slid right off the bone perfectly. The nacho chips seemed homemade and were sooo good. Even though we went on a Wednesday night the place was still pretty busy! They do have somewhat limited parking. We were just passing through the area but had a great time here!

Their menu has grown from what I remember, but we were there for the smoked wings so we had a bit of tunnel vision. Everyone in our group ordered smoked wings. My fiancé and I both got the Buffalo and my brother in law chose the sweet bbq. They were incredible! And the fries were the perfect balance of crispy and soft and nicely seasoned. I tried the lil wit rooster beer and it was *chefs kiss* perfect for a hot day before a float down the river. Service was improved from last visit too! We can't wait for our next trip up this way, and Creek Bottom is a big reason why!
