I typically always visit this store when I'm passing Wytheville and have always dealt with pleasant…read moreemployees, but I had to deal with one of the rudest employees (short lady with black hair) I've seen anywhere at my most recent visit. I grabbed 2 bottles of buffalo trace and she shouted at me that I could only get one. I immediately said "sorry, I didn't realize" and went and put the bottle back up without hesitation. She continued to shout at me that there was a sign (there wasn't any clear signage of this, it was on extremely small text on the tag next to the sku!). I said there wasn't and she pointed to the small text, to which I said "nobody is reading that" and continued to purchase my bottle with the other (much nicer) employee at the cashier. I ended up getting my second bottle anyways when my partner purchased it, ya know - since it's one per person :)

Negative Stars! I was recently at this location and purchased over $700 in Bourbon. The price for…read moreone item was clearly marked, but when I paid and received the receipt, I immediately saw that I had been overcharged by $100. I asked the clerk to correct the price and he said that it was mispriced and he could not. I asked to have the entire order canceled (while still at the counter without leaving the store) and was told again that he could not do that either. He spoke to the manager via phone and I was assured the next day that the $100 would be refunded to my credit card. The clerk even provided me with a copy of the receipt with the credit amount hand written and his signature. After a few days, I called back and the manager said the clerks are unable to provide a refund after they ring it in (even if the pricing is wrong), because he indicated they have an employee theft problem. He said that he would have to talk to "corporate"and call me back. Of course he never did. I called again today and he said "not gonna be able to do anything for you". He previously admitted the bottle was incorrectly priced and that because of theft problems they don't allow the night clerks to provide refunds. He would not provide his name, would not provide a # for corporate and hung up on me even though he admitted the mistake, they could not cancel the original transaction (while still at the store at time of purchase) and today hung up on me, will no longer answer the phone and basically said "you gotta do what you gotta do". As soon as I told him the call was being recorded he hung up. Overpriced items, terrible customer service, shady practices at best and apparently don't trust their own employees. Worst liquor store I have ever been to. Avoid this one and go somewhere else.

The gentleman with the beard (didn't catch his name) was very knowledgeable and offered several suggestions at different price points, based on my likes and tastes. And he didn't just try to sell the most expensive labels, he had several suggestions at lower price points too. They also do barrel picks here too for the bourbon chasers. Highly recommend checking them out.
