Two other people did arrive just a minute after we started and they were able to get integrated into our group. Our guide gave us fantastic info and even let us smell what they were currently working on. He also answered my many, many questions about the complexities of working so close to the state boarder (I was so curious!). The people who were also on our tour really tried to stir the pot by asking questions about local brewery drama. However, our guide was incredibly gracious and spoke kindly about all his local competitors. I could definitiely see the grit it takes to be a small local producer. We got to see the barrel room and the amount of work it takes to produce and manage all that inventory seems like a lot. After we took our tour, we sampled some of the offerings. They had whiskey, gin, vodka, rum, brandy, and perhaps something else. Much of what they had was quite strong, and really nice quality. I ended up getting some of the golden rum and a couple of other smaller things. This is definitely worth a stop in. The tour and tasting was free and family owners/operators were really nice.

After looking over the menu of by the glass selections, I chose the Makulu Moscato from South Africa. It was A++, great wine. They also have some small snack items available such as cheese, crackers, other various items. I chose the Italian Mixed Snack Plate, which had various Italian meat samples wrapped around mozzarella cheese with crackers on the side. Perfect to have with a glass of wine and chill. It hit the spot. Also, the owners were there and I got to discuss wine, travel, and food with them. It shows that Bernie and Terri love their shop, the passion for wine and food, and like sharing the experiences. There was a wonderful white wine available during their afternoon wine tasting that I sampled, the Tohu Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, that was a good contrast to my first wine I enjoyed. It had a tropical fruit, almost grapefruit even type of impression. Terri stated it was the lemongrass influence that is incorporated into the wine. Another good find. The cozy shop is filled with many varieties of wine to peruse and consider taking home. The shop is just the right size, not too big...not too small. There is also an a outside seating area in front of the shop as well. In all, I took home a bottle of the Moscato I had and was very satisfied with my experience at CCW. Bottom line: Great wine shop experience. Love the small bar area in the back. Owners have a passion for what they do and it shows. I will never want grocery store honey again after learning so much from store owner, Shelly Felder. We learned about bees and bee keepers. She educated us on the different honeys in the store. She has a live hive in the store and you can see the bees working away. We learned that honey can be tested and traced back to its origins based upon pollens found in it. She absolutely loves what she does and loves sharing it. There are tasting spoons available for tasting each type, including the flavored honeys. When we told her what we were looking for and what we would be doing with it she was able to make recommendations to us. We will be stocking up before leaving the area!
