Decided to try the new 2/$25 items tonight. 3 of us had the garlic top sirloin dish and the other had the buffalo chicken dish. Service was good considering she was covering both the bar and most of the dining room. She did check on us. It's always frustrating that they never give us 1-1 napkins and yes, we needed more knives than originally given when seated. Now the bad news... do NOT order the top sirloin! All 3 of us had gristle (not fat) in every steak... mine had 1/3 that wasn't edible. Couldn't even cut through it. The good news? The buffalo chicken dish with waffle fries was a hit. Should we do this again, we'll stick to the burger and fries on the 2/$25 deal. They were delicious when we had them in the past. Definitely need better quality steaks (edible) and more servers. read more

The food was ok. However, we had to wait 15 minutes for a hostess to noticed us. Then it took another 15 minutes for a waitress. We ordered. Then after a half an hour our food arrived. Getting our check took another 15 minutes. I would not recommend this place. And I question the cleanliness, the doors were filthy. read more

I do like the food here and I frequently Applebee's all over Iowa and Illinois. The bartender/manager in Dubuque is a b*****. I sat with an empty glass, my meal came came, I finished it and still she never asked if I needed anything. She actually got the person next to me and across from me another drink. She turned her back on me and walked away. Then when I asked for a refill, she was very snotty and said she had other customers. She lost her tip. read more

Stopped here because it's next to the hotel we stayed at. Worst experience I've had in a long time. Fryer was broken but they never mentioned it when we ordered. We waited almost 45 minutes for fried shrimp and fried chicken tenders. The kids Mac and cheese (Kraft) didn't come out until everyone was done eating. We ordered AYCE shrimp but the wait was so long that he didn't even get to enjoy it and we left before my son got any refills. I also had an Applebees gift card they wouldn't accept because it didn't have a pin... no expiration date. you would think the manager would be familiar and would have the ability to use it so I had to just pay the whole bill which I wasn't expecting. read more

wow has this location gone downhill. We use to take our kids here when they were young. Our appetizer chips were stale-soggy-chewy. My noodles with my chicken parmesan were chewy. My husband's burger had no flavor. Service was mediocre at best. My husband had to go to bar to get his drink refilled after our waitress forgot to bring him one. Very disappointed. read more

4 stars just because nothing is perfect but we had a wonderful experience. Our waitress and hostess were very friendly and prompt with service. We had a large table which sometimes can be challenging but the waitress did a great job. We stopped visiting Applebees about 5 years ago because of inconsistency and not great service but our two recent experiences have shown they are working through previous issues and are doing things right again. read more

Standard fairford a chain restaraunt. Decent food. Lots of options subbing sides may cost more. No baked potatoes ever. French onion soup is outstanding. 4 cheese mac us solid. Both cost more as subs but worth it. Price is above average for some entrees in my hum le ooinion. Nice but not rockstar status. read more

Our waitress was fantastic and attentive. However, the entrees were deeply average. I got the honey pepper chicken pasta and my pasta was brought to me cold (chicken was great though). My fiancé had the worst steak she has ever eaten- cooked perfectly but no seasoning at all. We enjoyed our appetizers: the fried cheese and the spinach dip and the salsa. read more

The mozzarella sticks are amazing. Frozen for the supermarket can't compare. We got the 2 for $29 combo--mozzarella sticks for 2, and I got steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Waiter first forgot to give us plates, than napkins, then straws. He was very apologetic and gave us all kinds of discounts to make sure the oversights didn't affect his tip, which of course we paid on the original amount. The place was not crowded but they have a staffing shortage so there was a bit of a wait. May explain why waiter was so frazzled. Applebees has the best steaks and the best deal for the money. I got 8 oz for $14.99 with sides I think. Varied menu--something for everyone. I only wish rice was a side, but apparently they don't carry it. read more

For the last 2 time I ordered take out, disappointed both time. First time ordered dinner for 2 but felt like I had some snacks. Over priced for the items given. 2nd time ordered around 6 items, after reaching home opened the box and found only 3 items, before I went back to get my remaining items, my food became very cold. Seated within minutes of arriving. Which surprised me? Because it was a Saturday night. Nice looking restaurant. But why were the floors sticky? The waitress, friendly and helpful. She did an excellent job. As far as the food. It was hit and miss. The steak and shrimp I give high marks for. Along with green beans and mashed potatoes as the sides. Meanwhile the fish tasted awful!!! And so did the tartar sauce. Disgusting! It made me ill. Also the fries were bland. No seasoning. I used a lot of ketchup. Easy to pay. Not a good experience all around. Sat down after about a 10 minute wait, when there was available tables. The waitstaff was using a 8 top to roll silverware during rush while people stood at the door. After we were seated waitress came to take our order, and cut my friends off because they were being to loud watching the football game. They had 1 drink, and manager came over and said it was a "family" restaurant that we had to be quiet. Some people in our group ordered all u can eat shrimp, when waitress brought out more shrimp she just dumped them on his plate and walked away...Really disappointed in lack respect given by your staff. read more

I lived a few blocks from this location several years ago and would get food to go several times each month. The food was predictable and good at that time. Today my visit was very different. We entered and were seated quickly. Our order was taken but took a very long time to arrive and 1/2 of it was wrong. Our order was sent back and wasn't returned until rest of party was finished. Our waitress seemed to be running all over the place (only one on duty?) - more staff are definitely needed. As we were sitting and waiting I noticed two different employees (one male and one female) working the door and seating people. Both were playing with and combing hair while they stood at the podium. This lasted for over 5 minutes with both employees. These same hands delivered our menus and silverware. A sad decrease in service over time. No rush to return. read more

Got here late on friday after work. Not so crowded but look like kitchen already want to close and the barista does not want us to seat at the bar. She is the most racist ppl i never seen before. Every time my friend ask her something or try to order she just pretend she didn't hear him. Food were terrible and if i can rate negative i will give negative for food. I order french onion soup for myself, chicken wonton taco, pretzel w beer dip for share appetizers. I had chicken pam for my entree and my 2 friend got steak and shrimp. Their steak turn out medium or well done even they order medium rare. Its completely cook and definitely well done for me. My soup was COLD, the cheese on top not even completely melt yet. And so my chicken pam, pasta way UNDERCOOK and COLD. I asked the guy work there see if they can fix it. He brought my plate in, brought back after 5 min without my galic bread said they want to give me a fresh one. That fresh one NEVER make to my plate. And my pasta still COLD and UNDERCOOK. We were in the area visiting family last week, and this was the one place that most of us could agree upon for dining ---so we ended up here twice within a few days whereupon I was crowned the Duke. Ha! That gave me a laugh. Dubuquers apparently aren't Yelpers . . . yet! Food and service was acceptable. Only thing that bothered me was the air conditioner vent that kept dripping water on me during dinner. Also, we learned that they only offer 2 for $20, and no upgrade to make it 2 for $25--manager explained it was a regional thing, So I guess it's one more thing we are spoiled with back home. read more

I had the ribs again not too far back, and they were still good, maybe just a tad less tender. This time they updated their menu with a selection of different BBQ sauces. I still prefer the original. For a change of pace, my next visit I decided to try something totally new and different (for ME). I ordered the chicken fried steak. The breading was nice and crunchy, spicy, (not too much) and the gravy was good. I wished they had more gravy. The portion size was HUGE. Served on garlic mashed potatoes. Not too garlicky and not bad at all. Vege side was standard, and I usually don't have room for that. Carrots, broccoli, zucchini. I still like this place. This is Applebee's. Food is consistency mediocre. What sucks is the karaoke. Holy crap balls. The ancient humans who facilitate this sad stage allow themselves and their friends to sing uninspired, sickly sounds of dying seal songs. This place has gone downhill badly. Ordered on the 2 for 20 menu and it was beyond bad. My steak was literally hard as a rock overdone and it couldn't have been six oz before cooking. Broccoli was steamed and tasteless. The high point was the salad which was good. None of the four steaks were properly done. Waitress tried to please and I left her a decent tip but we waited at least five minutes for a hostess. We have eaten there often in the past but with this experience it will be a long time before we go back. read more

I've been to this Applebee's a few times and they're usually pretty good. Waitress was friendly. Got a sirloin with green beans and upgraded to get the Mac n cheese. The green beans were FANTASTIC (garlicky and warm), but the Mac n cheese was disappointing. Not too creamy and a little too much bacon overpowered the flavor. Overall, a good visit. read more
