Not enough setting at the Bar i don't like to take a hole table when it's just me and maybe a friend .. if you enjoy playing pool or darts this place has the space for that..drinks were about 6-7 dollars a mix drink I don't drink beer so idk those prices and ill have to go back for food .. read more

Simple! Friendly! Delicious! Clean! I grew up in Dubuque. The Dog House Lounge was always there - midway on my walk home from Wahlert High School. My wife and I went there for the first time during a recent trip back to Dubuque. We saw the great ratings and read the reviews. So we gave it a try for lunch. We are glad we did. We ordered a couple burgers and fries. They were delicious and exactly what you're looking for when craving a good ol' pub burger. The atmosphere was inviting and featured billiards and darts. We were impressed by the cleanliness. Our bartender, who was also at the grill, was friendly and helpful. The patrons were noticeably friendly too. Many greeted each other with a hearty Hello and a first name. Some included a hug. The absence of "Hard Drinking" characters supported the friendly pub-like vibe. We will be back. read more

Stopped in for a late dinner. Bartender walked by me three times before I finally asked her for a beer. There was a very distinct smell, better word odor, in the bar. It smelled almost like toilet bowl cleaner. Mentioned it to bartender, in which she responded, oh that's our cook...WTH! Said cook heard us and responded, yeah that's me, I burn incense at home. It was so overbearing that while eating it was almost as if you could taste it. The scent of an employee should not overtake an entire bar and this did, and when she got closer I had to put a napkin over my mouth to keep from smelling it. I usually enjoy eating there as the food is quite good but this time, not so much, to the point of, sorry to say, I won't be returning anytime soon. Hope the new owners will address this before it drives more people away. read more

I love the Doghouse!!! Weekend atmosphere and NFL season is where it's at. However, any other night of the week is Logan, who caters to a younger crowd and treats everyone with a short attitude. He acts impatient and like everything is an inconvenience. read more

The food was reasonably tasty, but the atmosphere when we came in sucked! There were a half dozen people here, but they must of all be locals because the bartender was too busy hanging with them to even acknowledge our presence. It appears there might've been someone else working there at the end of the bar, a woman, but she never acknowledged our presence either... We had to go up to the bar to order, and to get our check. The bartender didn't even ask if my husband wanted another beer - just asked if he wanted to cash out. Per my daughter, it felt like walking into a high school cafeteria, with the click sitting there and we weren't a part of it... NO Tip (which I rarely do), no desire to return, no recommendation from us. read more

It could have been the deliciously cold, beer in a frosty mug or the fact that I just ended a 12 hour work day but I believe I had the very best burger ever at the Dog House. The Carmichael is two seasoned beef patties smothered in melty cheese. I had mine with all the triimming anmd a side of battered onion rings and it was perfection. Yes it is a bit of a dive bar but everyone was friendly and once we figured out we had to order at the bar, service was great. read more
