Fun place to stop for a few drinks if passing through. Laid back, friendly service, pool tables, dart boards, games and more.

Stopped by 1st & Main recently for lunch with a group of four…read more They're a seat yourself kinda spot and you walk into bar seating as well as bar height tables. If you're with folks who wouldn't be comfortable in seating that height (as we were), not to worry! They have additional traditional table seating through a doorway to the right of the bar. They have a large menu so there's definitely a little something for everyone. I ordered the brie grilled cheese with fries. It was good. I expected more flavor from the brie (it tasted very mild) but the jalapeno jelly added a nice sweetness and a bit of flavor. The atmosphere is your standard pub. It's in a historical building and they provide a bit of the history on their menu which was neat to read. The service was accommodating and efficient. Get to it!

Our waitress was kind, helpful, and patient. She offered recommendations when I asked; the chef was accommodating when I asked about taking crème brûlée to go and provided some berries with the cheesecake when we asked. I can't express how much we all liked this place and can't wait to be back.

But the interior was very cool and the area was very pretty. They have a nice outdoor patio, inside bar and table seating. Plus they have several arcade games and sweet merchandise. Service was friendly and everything was clean. They had quite a few beers on tap so I opted for a flight. I sampled the cramden bike-fruited sour, Punchy the clown-sour, Bangers-Strawberry Rhubarb Piehole-gluten free sour, and I Gotta Have My Hops-imperial ipa. They were all really good but my favorite was the strawberry rhubarb. It wasn't overly sour but was more sweet and was just a nice, light, summery drink. For dinner I had the Cuban B-smoked pulled pork, ham, pickle chips, honey mustard, and Swiss cheese on a hoagie roll. It came with a side of fries. The Cuban was delicious. The flavor was Smokey and sweet with a little acidity. It was really well balanced and was very tasty. Highly recommend. The fries were crispy and crunchy and not overly salted. I'd definitely order them again. Highly recommend that you stop in if you're in the area. If we end up around here again, we'll definitely stop in again.

Upon arriving, we noticed…read morethat there was a table with approximately 20 guys but it a sports bar and they're used to having large groups, with all the conferences held around Dubuque, so we thought we should be ok. WRONG!! ( One waiter and one waitress) ‍) Waited 20 mins before even getting asked if what we wanted to drink. Mind you, we were ready to have a beverage and order by that time. I ordered the pick 3 and a beer. Chips, ceasar salad, and chicken and dumpling soup. My lunch companion ordered a chicken wrap and chips and a beer. Easy enough, right?!?! Wrong! Out beers finally got poured and then sat at the bar, for what seemed like an eternity. Finally brought those to us. And then we waited and waited and waited. Finally our waiter came back with just my chips. And we were back to the waiting game. By the time the rest of the food came, we NEEDED another beer, just to endure the wait. Oddly enough, they sat at the bar again. My salad was fine but the soup was cold! And that was the only hot thing that we had ordered. Short story long, it was a 90+ min lunch, for basically soup and salad. They need to figure out their food and staffing issues before I ever step back into this place!!
