Katie was an amazing server, she was an absolute angel and was patient with our party of about 20 people, althought the place was very short staffed our food came hot and ready, and tasted amazing, this place is a huge vibe and for my first time at Applebee's it was actually really good. Usually they're on top of things and giving good service, but tonight was way off. Our waitress just couldn't be bothered to care or try to do her job correctly. She started off spilling our drinks on our napkins and silverware. I had to ask her to bring us more napkins. When she did, she didn't bring enough for the table and put them on top of the soaked napkins. I had to wipe up the table myself. I asked for no parsley on my mashed potatoes, but there was more parsley on my potatoes than anyone else's at the table. I also asked for extra sautéed mushrooms. She brought them out in a plastic container which she had placed on my sizzling hot plate, which caused it to melt and no doubt leech microplastics into my food. I asked for no onions and there were a few onions mixed in with the mushrooms. The chicken tasted different than usual, like the bourbon wasn't cooked out enough. I asked her if she could ask to have the music turned down because it was blaring. I couldn't hear the people sitting at my table over the music. She said she'd ask but nothing changed. She never took any used plates away from the table so we started running out of room. When she finally brought us refills, she overfilled my cup, and spilled a bit of my drink on my shoe. Didn't apologize or anything. She never brought us the check. We had to ask her because we were paying in cash. Overall, she just really needs to find a different job if she's not even going to try to work for her tips. Also, the music shouldn't be as loud as a night club in a dine-in restaurant. I shouldn't have to shout to be heard by my table. The music was even louder in the bathroom. Just not sensory friendly, and all the toilets were dirty, and the floor was sticky. read more

My buddy and I were on a motorcycle trip and the Applebees was the closest we could get by walking from our hotel. When we got there, it was practically empty. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple of pints. The bar itself was pretty sticky. We asked our bartender Jackson to do some cleaning. Apparently Jackson was about to depart this occupation and had already turned in his notice. He also filled us with all the issues the restaurant has which all pointed to the fact they can't hire or retain good employees. Some of the things he mentioned were concerning to where I decided to order something I thought would be less complicated to prepare----Chicken Quesadilla. It was OK just like the rating, just like the venue. If you're staying at that hotel and don't want to go far for a meal, this Applebees would suit the need. read more

Meh. A very average Applebee's with slower than normal service. Not sure why everything was slow they had a limited number of people in there but it took forever for us to get our waters. They did apologize for the slow service and we did get a free dessert. Also the servers are very nice and accommodating it's just everything was slow and I'm not sure why. The food was average at best. Nothing to write home about but definitely not bad. The dessert was good too. We sat at one of the booths near the bar. We did have a beer which was delicious. Overall I would just say this is your average Applebee's experience. But there's nowhere to eat it's definitely a spot you can go to, hopefully they were just having a semioff night. They aren't even trying anymore. The servers are great people, but management needs retraining. Always short staffed, no bussers, tables left dirty for too long. Yesterday we went to eat there. It was a bigger group, 5 adults and 2 kids. We were there for over an hour before our meal came out. We only ordered 3 entrees, 1 appetizer, and 2 deserts. People who came in half an hour after us, ordered more food, paid and left before our food arrived. It was 30 minutes before our drinks got to the table. No alcohol, no complicated drinks, just 3 waters and 3 sodas. 1 person got a refill, but nobody else did. read more

Turn around and RUN back out the door. Drive 2 min. And go to Chili's. This Applebee's is dirty and dark. Tables are sticky and no menus ( I realize COvID but Chili's uses menus). We Ordered queso and chips for appetizer and it came out cold,everytime we have been here at the boone location the food is always awful. Servers don't care they give terrible service. The waitress's are very rude to their customers including managers. Also telling people that there is a 30+ minute wait, (keep in mind there are 25+ tables open and ready for use) and the hostess using the excuse that "to many people called out", granted yes I have worked in a restaurant before and yes it's not always easy and it can be stressful to try to accommodate everybody at once but you could at least eat people at a table and bring them a drink. Managers and employees standing around on their phones, sitting around a table talking amongst theirselves with people walking in the door and they just look at them. Not to mention the hostess didn't even give us silverware or napkins as she should have. Our waiter Sam specifically was amazing with us, picking up the slack of the other people running his butt off trying to accommodate everyone and checking in on us frequently. This place is terrible and has gone down hill tremendously. I will not be returning to the Boone location. read more

We are here having some dinner. Drinks are awesome. Ford, well that's another story. My plate came with maybe half of a potato and the table next to us order the same thing, I think he got the rest of my potatoes. That was a bit racist. My friends burgers they order no pink and they came with the rope still around the cow. They took it back and just burn the outer part and the inside was still pink as a withe babies cheeks. I had never been so my girlfriend and I decided to go. Honestly, though, Applebee's is very mediocre. I wouldn't necessarily never go back, but it won't be a first choice either. Steak was good, onion rings, fries, and mozzarella sticks are also good. The ribs had good flavor, but terrible texture and quality, steamed broccoli and salad were not good, and terrible variety of side options on the menu. You can get 2 types of garlic mashed potatoes, 2 types of broccoli, fries, onion rings, and garlic green beans. So basically, you can have a potato, green beans, broccoli, onion rings, or bacon mac and cheese. I do highly recommend the steak, though (no sauce needed) read more

A friend and I stopped at Applebee's in Boone on March 12, 2019 for lunch. After waiting about 10 minutes for a waitress to show up, I finally asked the hostess if anyone was working. A few minutes later a waitress finally arrived and took our orders. Little did my friend and I know we were in for a frustrating lunch. My friend asked for Splenda; the waitress forgot it. When our food arrived, my soup was only lukewarm. The waitress never checked on us while we were eating, never refilled our drinks, and never brought our bills until we asked for them. When she got around to delivering my bill, it was wrong. She had charged me for tea when I got water. I asked her to remove the charge for the tea. She left and returned several minutes later with the same bill, no changes. Again, I asked her to fix the problem. Finally, she brought the corrected bill--no apology. Based on my experience today, I will not return to this restaurant. read more

The lack of salt and pepper is baffling. However, the 1 dollar Long Island Iced tea slaps. The wings for 25 cents is an amazing deal, to be able to spend less than 10 dollars for 3 Long Island iced teas, 2 ranches, and 20 wings is unheard of, for food that Is of way higher quality than other places where you would spend twice or three times as much. However the lack of salt and pepper and low quality service, as well as the eccentricity of the workers is the reason for the two stars. read more

When most people hear Applebee's they don't think too highly of it, but this bar and grill completely changed my entire perspective on the restaurant chain. Boone, NC's Applebee's had one of the best, most well trained, and attentive wait staff I have ever had the pleasure of serving me. Even those who weren't our server were kind and willing to grab something if we needed it. All the food was delicious, exceeding my expectations. The cherry on top was the sweetest host who held the door for my husband and I when we entered and leaving the restaurant. I highly recommend dropping into Applebee's next time you find yourself in Boone! read more

This is one of the few places in town that has stayed the same over the years and so I have been there many times. My family and I went recently and it was an interesting experience. The waitress we got was very nice but she brought us the wrong drinks even after we told her they were wrong they still came back as the wrong drinks. That was fine we can drink mostly anything so we order and my mothers steak comes out with pink in the middle while my mom asked for no pink so they do another one and this one is crusty on the outside and pink in the middle. We didn't want to argue about it so we all ate our meals, everyone else's was delicious. I got a chicken dish with mashed potatoes and green beans and it was sooooo good. All around this experience was below what I wish it had been and I can't wait to go back to see if they have gotten better. read more

Extremely disappointing. Prime rib on sandwich was a cross between jerky and crispy bAcon and was served with onion soup instead of Au jus. Ordered a bowl of onion soup as an appetizer and it was the same thing as served with sandwich and was ronly mediocre. It waS difficult to find the meat on the brisket tacos. Our Toddler started a video game on the tabletop without permission. It was added to the bill but removed. While he could have been more closely supervised, it should not be so easy for a small child to access the game. Tiny portions, mediocre cooking, untrained waitstaff, not worth the prices. Sadly not an Applebee's as I know them where I'm from, where you can expect nice waitstaff and big portions. Find a local diner (Troy's), or barbecue place (McKethan Bros.) instead. There's no shortage of good local food in Boone. If you must have standardized fare, try Cookout, or Five Guys. Where to begin here? Perhaps with a note about the ambiance: When you can't hear me (and I talk LOUDLY) from the seat beside me in a booth, because the music is so loud? You're at a (sleazy) nightclub, not a fine dining establishment, as far as I'm concerned. If that's your thing though? Go find said nightclub, and ask if you can bring in a half-under-cooked sandwich from your fridge at home; It will result in a better meal than this place can give you. I ordered an 8 oz. Steak (12 is a little much for me, but 4 is just too small), cooked medium rare, with some fries and mac 'n cheese (I don't quite trust a particular restaurant I've never been to, with cooking a steak bleeding/mooing rare, and no increase in trust has been earned here as you'll soon see). What I got was, for lack of a better term, a 2 oz. piece of shoe-leather, with chlorine soaked noodles, and dog vomit ('fries' and 'mac 'n cheese' respectively). The other members of my party initially thought I had been mistakenly given a child's meal, and said so immediately, if that offers any perspective. I don't eat my food in large chunks, preferring to savor smaller bites, and I was done with my '8 oz. steak' so-called in seven bites. I've been known to spend three times as long to eat a half of a fiber bar. It was the most seared, leathery piece of 'medium' food ever to cross my teeth, and it was demeaning when after I, and every other member of my party questioned the server about the portion size, he simply blew us off. You could tell, from the second I asked, that he knew he had screwed up, it was written all over his face, but he flatly refused to be of service. Other servers were observed to be busy playing games at the little table kiosks, taking multitudinous smoke breaks (sometimes twice within 15 minutes) and singing obnoxiously along to the over-loud music. No gratuity for you. Trained waitstaff always make it right for the customer, and always show professionalism The size might be halfway forgivable (though the staff behavior is not) if the cooking was any good, but alas... Last time I ordered a medium steak from a comparably priced restaurant, there was a perfect pink center, with a light outer braising, and it was probably closer to 9 oz. than 8. What I got here was a charcoal center, with a brimstone outer layer, that you could sneeze off the plate. The fries were, in a word, pitiful. French fries ought to be crispy, and hot at bare minimum. Your taste in specific seasoning, and breading may be subjective, but you expect to get something fried, it's in the name after all, when you order french fries. What I got was soggier than a soaked pool noodle. The mac 'n cheese, even my mother (a notorious lover of that most noxious of foods, vegetables) would not touch after her first sample bite. Mac 'n cheese is supposed to be creamy, cheesy comfort food. The stuff at this place is literally acidic. Like eating raw tomato, slathered in the juices of raw asparagus, and antifreeze. So in summary: Lousy cooking, minuscule portions which are falsely advertised, unprofessional waitstaff, poor ambiance. Ten points deducted from Slytherin. read more

Don't get me wrong, I like Applebees, it's in a good location and is located in the heart of the town and is open late. The lady that sat us said, "I would sit you in a booth but we don't have any clean." Maybe clean one??? It was Super Bowl night and our server had a packed section and was very busy but managed to be attentive to us and was quick the whole time there. We've eaten at the Boone franchise for years and used to really enjoy it, however our past few experiences have been horrible! Both my daughters ordered steak cooked MW, one was a poor cut, full of fat, the other was cooked MR. We asked for it to be re cooked, they took it back and brought the same steak back, which she had already cut and it was still rare. The new manager was not even apologetic, very smirky, and even made a negative comment as she walked by, to our server. My daughter could not even eat her dinner. Our tables combined bill, including tip was well over $100. That is not the kind of business I would want to loose! We will take our business elsewhere, as it looks as though others have decided to do also. Im not sure who ownes this restaurant, but they need to be aware that their new manager sucks! read more

When we were seated the table was visibly filthy and we were seated anyway. I asked the host to clean the table she sprayed the cleaning solution on the table and sprayed my arm. By which she never apologized and walked away to find paper towel. I ordered a Margarita. The drink had foreign objects floating around in it and there was still residue from another drink in the inside of the glass..I felt so sick! I brought it to the attention of my server she notified management. I waited 20 mins for a replacement drink. When I recieved it same thing minus the residue at this point I was ready to go! My children consumed their drinks and appetizers. They didn't receive any . We saw our waiter all of two times in 40 mins. OMG. And then I had to wait another 30 mins to recieve my bill. Very disappointed with the lack of sanitation. I truly hope that neither my children and I recieve any foodborn illnesses because of the poor sanitation conditions of this resturant. Used to eat at the Boone Applebees ALL the time years ago, but actually had not been there in probably at least 2-3 years. Wow, they have improved. I know its a chain so you know what you are getting, but the food has improved. I have ate there twice in the last two weeks and both times ordered the 7oz Sirloin Steak. It was so good both times. Melts in my mouth. The service has been awesome too! Both times. Ate there today and my waitress was GREAT!!! She brought my food and kept my drink refiled SUPER fast. My steak was perfection, but when I took a bite of the mashed potatoes they were a little cold, took another bite and it was a little cool too. My waitress came over and asked how the food was, I told her about the potatoes, but I took another bite and it was hot. She asked if she could bring me another dish of mashed potatoes, I told her no, they tasted great and I would just mix them up and they would be fine. About a minute and half later here comes one of the Assistant Managers with a huge dish of piping hot mashed potatoes. She said that my waitress was concerned because mine were cold.. I told her it was not that big of a deal, but she was very nice and said no one wants cold potatoes. Very impressed with the customer service. Will definitely be coming back! read more

Friday night, 7 pm. During, you know... "dinner rush", the time for which restaurant managers (should) prep their crews to handle the business. Thankfully the bartender is personable and efficient. Doesn't make up for the others, however. Young lady holding the door open as we entered looked sullen and didn't speak or greet us even after I said "thank you". Next young lady, standing at hostess stand, looked petrified and refused to meet my eyes. She also didn't speak for at least 45 seconds, so I asked if my wife and I could be seated. "I'm just going to let the host handle that" she replied... I managed to not respond, but had to count backwards from one hundred, in Sanskrit. Hostess finally arrived, I asked for a table for two, she told me there'd be a ten to fifteen minute wait. I looked around at an almost empty restaurant and asked why. "We just had a lot of large parties arrive at once, and the kitchen gets backed up." I counted 3 seated 8-tops, 1 6- or 8-top waiting to be seated (all these parties had children), 17 open booths and tables, not counting all the empty high-tops and the completely empty bar. We waited a few minutes then asked someone else standing at hostess stand if we could get food if we sat at the bar.
